Akai Professional APC64 USB MIDI Pad Controller

Great controller! I was looking for a supplementary Ableton Live controller for performance and production, and this was a great fit. My main complaint is that it is on the bigger side, but that is probably so that it can accommodate so many features.

Loving the APC64 so far. It feels solid, the RGB pads are super responsive, and it just works right out of the box with Ableton. The built-in step sequencer is a game changer for live sets and jamming. Touch strips took a little getting used to, but now I’m hooked. Also love that I can hook it up to my modular gear with the CV outputs. Overall, great buy—makes producing and performing way more fun.

Though it takes time learning everything it is capable of, it seems like it will meet all my expectations for using it for live shows. As a producer it's not possible for me to do live shows. I mean I can sit in a chair and press play, but with this I can. After mixing and mastering scenes and loops for live play intentionally, you can let your music play and just do the drums, or u can have different melodies and patterns come in at the press of a button, making it able to be played differently each time if you want. You can even use the notes and chords feature to play midi like a keyboard. The real magic is the 8 touch strips on the sides that allow you to manipulate the automation and effects on the fly. Really cool. I have a lot to learn! Very happy and much cheaper than a push! Still I'm sure the push is better.

okay but needs a bigger display , mostly computer base , you want to see what you are doing , and other flaws i won't mention

It pairs wonderfully with my keyboards. Don't care much for Ableton 12 Lite. Lots and lots of fun otherwise.

Bought a "used: mint" model from "Amazon resale". Asides from the box being covered in tape/amazon stickers (which annoyingly can't be removed without ripping the box) , it was like new. No problems registering it to my akai account & downloading all the software that comes with it. Still had the sticker over the LCD, USB cables were still twist-tied and seemed unused (though the plastic bags they came in had been taped into the box in a manner that didn't seem 'factory stock'). No obvious signs of use on the unit itself. The device itself is smaller than I was expecting. The pads are smaller than those of the ableton push/novation launchpad, which might be annoying to finger drummers. They have a 'hard' feel compared to other pads I've used. Only had it a few hours, but for just over $200, it's probably about as good a grid controller you'll find for the price.

Very easy to use if you already know about DAW or already had a controller. If not, could take some time to learn but YouTube might help. Very robust and the design is so cool.

Un dispositivo efficiente e perfetto per l'uso con Ableton Live (ovviamente si può usare anche con altre DAW, previa programmazione ad hoc). Consente la modifica in tempo reale di molti parametri, i fader touch sono sensibili e pratici. i pad sensibili al tocco possono essere usati sia per lanciare le clip, sia per "suonare" sia frasi melodiche che percussioni. C'è anche la possibilità di usarlo come sequencer, ma non l'ho ancora sperimentata. Bisogna considerare che l'uso richiede una certa pratica, data l'infinità di funzioni e la molteplicità dei tasti multifunzione, ma online si trovano molti buoni tutorial (la registrazione consenta anche di utilizzare una piattaforma didattica online ma non ho ancora approfondito). Un difetto, proprio a volerglielo trovare, è il fatto di avere le luci (multicolore) dei pad poco visibili se usato all'aperto, anche alla massima potenza. Per il resto, un must per chiunque utilizza Ableton in contesti live.

Geniales Teil.... braucht einwenig Einübungszeit aber mit LiveLite und den free Download Sets sehr zu empfehlen .Das die Regler durch diese Touchscreen ersetzt wurden ist Optisch Top aber einwenig gewöhnungsbedürftig aber sobald man raus hat wie man mit device auf Live Lite die Regler Durchschalter je nach Asset, kein Problem.Zusätzlich kann man sich ja noch eine Mpd mit Regler kaufen gibt es schon unter Hundert und man ist total versorgt.Ich benutze zum bspw.noch eine mpk Mini dazu .

Love the APC64!! Simple setup on Ableton Live and works amazing with the 8 touch strips. Take your music to the next level!

Love it. Check online videos to make sure it’s what you really need. But build quality is excellent
