Works perfectly took me a few minutes to figure out how to unlock the ratchet to extend the cable. Not overly robust you get what you pay for but overall money well spent

The winch works well but you you need to know, "curtesy of a previous review" what to do to get it to function by use of liberal lubrication and a screwdriver to lift the ratchet pawl clear of the ratchet teeth. Also a small clamp to hold the release lever(hands free) helps. The winch works well when put to use, after aforesaid preparation, and is very efficient. There are no instructions! supplier please note and remedy!

Awesome , strong winch , I mean for 20 quid you can't go wrong , I would advise chucking some grease into the mechanism and get someone to help you wind it out fully and back in a few times as mine was stiff when it arrived but with some grease and some hard work it's now smooth and free , it's done an awesome job of pulling my boat that has sunk and was stuck in the rive bed , really impressed for the price I paid

Not expecting much for the price, but its very awkward to use. Also it can only pull around 1metre maximum at a time. If its a heavy load, the cable pinches in on itself on the reel, and is very difficult to release, due to the way its designed.

I got this tool to pull my caravan out of a boggy paddock and this it did effectively. The mechanism is very tight after unboxing so I would advise slackening off the 'axle' nut and dropping some oil down each side. Also not obvious is the position of the spring which needs sliding up to release the ratchet handle. Try a few test runs to loosen up the cable before using it in earnest.
