Q: Does the frame hide the transformer or does that have to be pushed into the ceiling cavity?

It does hide transformer, doesn't need to go into ceiling.

Q: Does this come as 1 piece or 4 pieces for assembly? thanks

It comes in 4 parts with corner joints,you need to make sure that it is fitted square. This can be quite tricky when fitting to a ceiling, I cut two pieces of wood at 600mm to use as spacers when marking the ceiling,guess what I am trying to point out is that accurate measurement is essential but when fitted the end result is very pleasing.

Q: will it accomodate 10mm thick LED panel

No easy access to the inside of the frame now it has been assembled and installed, but the illustrations allow a good estimate. It's 43/44mm deep overall, so the panel-light channel must be over 10mm.
