Doug Quaid (Arnold Schwarzenegger), a happily married construction worker living in the year 2084, is haunted by a recurrent dream in which he is living with a woman on Mars. Rekall Incorporated offer him the chance to live out his dream through a microchip which implants any memories their client desires into their brain. But something goes wrong during the installation of Quaid's memories of a trip to Mars and soon he lands up on the planet for real, unsure of his true identity and pursued by a gang out for his blood. He teams up with a group of resistance fighters to uncover a mystery which leads to the highest echelons of the planet's government. Review: Great action movie with Arnold in top form. - Total recall is one of my favourite Schwarzenegger movie, it's fast paced and action-packed, being the sort of film role that Schwarzenegger excels in. Unlike some of the other reviewers I was happy with the picture quality of the transfer to blu ray disc, everything was nice, sharp and detailed.I didn't notice a grainy picture but I was just viewing it on a 32" inch hi def screen as opposed to something much bigger. The only disappointment is the fact that the disc is completely devoid of special features;I'm still going to award 5 stars though, as I feel the actual movie itself deserves it. Arnold plays the part of Douglas Quaid a construction worker that is happily married to Gloria-Sharon Stone. However, this marital bliss is short-lived as Quaid is troubled by recurring dreams of Mars and takes a mind implant vacation there curtesy of Rekall Inc. The visit unlocks hidden memmories for Quaid and from this moment on the action doesn't let up as bad guys are in constant pursuit of Schwarzenegger. This unexpectedly includes his wife who also tries to kill him. Sharon Stone portrays the part of the treacherous wife that tries to convince him of his alternative existence really well. Total Recall has some fine one liners such as "consider that a divorce" when he shoots Gloria and "See you at the party Victor" with Arnold launching Victor's severed arms back at him in the lift sequence. Also, "baby, you make me wish I had three hands" when the cab driver is fondling the girl in the club is another line worthy of note. The movie has good special effects for its time, a talking exploding head, a tracking device inside Arnolds's head the size of a golf ball, lots of violence and ample swearing aswell as a lot of freaky mutants.I particularly enjoyed the pursuit sequence where Schwarzenegger is being chased through the metro x-ray machine and leaps through it in order to effect an escape. In summary, an excellent sci fi action movie that is all the more enjoyable for its transfer to Hi Definition. Review: Stone cold classic - This is an absolute beast of an action and sci-fi flick. Arnie plus Philip K. Dick makes for a potent combination. It has actually aged fairly well, despite being 35 years old. The story has everything: corruption, greed, rebellion and ancient aliens, and Arnie is on top form in one of his best ever roles. Top stuff.

... cannot at all fault the film which still looks fantastic over 20 years on & is a great action ...
This is a difficult one as I have somehow managed to buy two copies of Total Recall (The Arnie version) and while I cannot at all fault the film which still looks fantastic over 20 years on & is a great action film from director Paul Verhoven. With a huge conundrum at its core. Is it all a dream that he requires recall or is his adventure to mars all real?. It's the dvds that are the problem for me. Here I have two copies, one a special edition blu ray with commentary from Schwarzenegger & Verhoven Where they explane the ins & outs of the movie together & provides some interesting insight to the film it also has other features that included. The other blu ray is Just the film nothing else on it & I am a special edition or to be more honest (Commentary fan) I therefore love the special edition & probably will not bother with the sparce edition at all. I don't know how this mix up happened as both pics on the Amazon site have the same (special edition) box featured yet the sparce edition has a slightly different box it features just Arnie's face in blue shade, with no red triagle of flame or mars on it. I dunno who I bought which dvd from either, only that the special edition came first. Oh well never mind. great film that feel younger than it is. it also blows the modern Colin Farrell remake completely out of the water & on it's head.

Total Recall
It’s another Arnie film and it’s a good un ! It’s in my top three films off his. It’s based on a Philip K Dick short story and directed by Paul Herhoeven who once famously directed a film about bikers in full leather bikers gear to get in to character. He’s well known for directing Robocop so it is actually quite violent and hard hitting in the same vein but this is counterbalanced by humour throughout the film. It’s a good cast with Sharon Stone appearing amongst others. It’s set around an agent who has had his mind erased to infiltrate a rebel group based on Mars. It was made in 1990 so effects can start to look tired but the film still has some original ideas that look good even now. It’s a good script and a classic sci fi film of its day. It’s very entertaining but don’t expect Shakespearean action from Arnie who’s firmly in the Hollywood star mode. It’s great fun and hard not to like . You will never book a holiday for two weeks again without quoting from the film either ! Recommended for nostalgia or new Sci Fi fans.

"..ALL TIME CULT CLASSIC SCI-FI.."
This is one of the most awesome sci-fi movies ever made and one of Schwarzenegger's best movies too, a cult action hero that will always be long remembered for his movies, total recall is a beautiful sci-fi with a deep and interesting story with so many visual thrills taking you from one place to another and never stops moving, there's plenty of action and fighting and explosions and babes and bloody violence, its a massive cocktail of unforgettable awesomeness and memorable quotable one-liners and dialogue, the supporting cast is great too with plenty of cult classic faces like Michael Ironside and Ronny Cox and Sharon Stone as the villains! Director Verhoeven has made one of the most memorable and lovable movies of the 90's, I would say he's probably made some of the greatest movies of our time along with the just as classic Robocop!! This is a must own and watch movie at any cost! Amazing sci-fi. The Triple play Blu-ray has amazing picture. Awesome collectable steelbook if you get that version. Lots of great and interesting features.

totaly awsome!
I am a great fan of Total Recall and i love Arnold's classic action films and i remember seeeing this film in the cinema in 1990 and it was when Arnie was the king of action and he kept having hit after hit.(terminator 2 was his best film tho)and i knew wehn it was released on VHS video it was CUT very bad and when i had the DVD it too was also cut very bad!-when i first heard it was getting a special edition released on bluray i was excited as i hoped it would be the full UNCUT VERSION?;i got the recall edition and i was NOT disapointed one bit,it was uncut and remastered perfectly..the film has never looked so good as it does on this new bluray edition..considering the film is 22 years old they have done a superb job on remastering the entire film..the sound too is much better and itis more enjoyable looking like a new film..I cant reccommend this new bluray more..get it now!!(my only gripe was the fact the bonus features had no deleted scenes)
