Works well.
use several of these for fan speed controls, you know the 3 speed fans with fast, faster and hurricane speeds.Oh, and the sound level, sheesh. These controls let me slow the fans slow to the point can count the revolutions, and adjust to the air current need. speed need. At low speeds the sound goes away. am very happy with this product.

Works Great!
Works great for what we needed it for, no complaints at all. I was given a speed controlled belt sander for Christmas and by the time I went to use it, it was too late to return. Needless to say, the speed control on it didn't work and it accelerated to the point that I thought it was going to take off and explode in the process! Crazy! Glad I thought to look up this little AC Motor Speed Controller on Amazon, because it works perfectly! I just plugged this into the wall and then an extension cord into the speed controller, then hooked up the sander. Hooray, now I had it going at a reasonable speed with no exploding. : ) By the way, the belt sander is from Harbor Freight; n.e.v.e.r. again! Read the reviews on the sander, almost half of the people had the same problem. Glad I was able to save it before it went up in flames. Thank you Versatile for selling this handy little gadget.

Works for Fan
Works like a dimmer for the speed of my floor fan. I didn't like that the fans low setting was still too fast.

This thing is literally a giant pile of crap.
This thing is literally a giant pile of crap. I bought this for a fan I have mounted on the ceiling in my garage, it’s high enough that it’s hard to adjust the speed but I’ve already got it on a phone controlled smart switch to turn on and off so I bought this thinking maybe I’d add another fan or two (it’s rated for it) and use the smart switch to turn on this controller, and this controller to adjust the speed of the multiple fans. Currently there’s only one fan on this thing. I got it delivered this evening, hooked it up, and started playing with it. Initially I noticed that the fan basically only worked from 65v-120v, anything less than that and it didn’t function, in the medium high to high range of this controller, so I started getting used to the “low, medium, high” style of settings which was basically 65v, 100v, and 120v, I left it set on 100ish V and went inside to eat dinner, came back out to turn it up and it’s like some internal spring or something gave out while I was inside eating. Literally have approximately 40 minutes of use on this thing. If this is how it behaves, I don’t trust it to not burn my house down. I really wanted to like this, and build a small network of fans based off of it with this screwed to my wall as the single controller for a couple of fans, but based off it it being dead 20-40 minutes after arrival, I cannot recommend this.

Not a true speed controller
This controller adjusts the voltage supplied to a motor. That is not a true speed controller. A true speed controller adjusts the voltage to maintain a motor speed. For a fixed load it can adjust the motor speed correctly such as a fan.
