Explore the fascinating past, present, and possible future of Elon Muskโs SpaceX in the first comprehensive photographic history of the company. The private space industryโs consensus leader, SpaceX, headed by controversial billionaire Elon Musk, was worth an estimated $187 billion in 2023 while taking on more rolesโflying cargo, supplies, and astronauts to outer space, and even playing a central role as rocket supplier to NASAโs Artemis moon mission. In SpaceX: Elon Musk and the Final Frontier, science journalist and editor Brad Bergan tells the story of SpaceX with words and 200+ stunning photographs of the spacecraft, key players, and facilities in California, Texas, and Florida. Bergan examines every detail surrounding SpaceXโs efforts to accelerate humankindโs exploration and understanding of outer space, including: The personal and private forces that led Musk to form the company The business of private space exploration, including contracts with other private firms and NASA Chief rivals, including Blue Origin, founded by desertcartโs Jeff Bezos SpaceX roles in missions to the Moon, Mars, and beyond Bergan also covers some of SpaceX's controversial headlines, from space junk to failed test launches and the Starlink satellite constellation. While examining the business, the missions, and the hardware , Bergan looks at the importance of design-forward equipment and, finally, the endgame: what ultimately is โin itโ for SpaceX? SpaceX: Elon Musk and the Final Frontier is the ultimate visual look at a groundbreaking company, with an eye toward its relatively short pastโand a critical eye toward its possible dominion in deep space . Excellent space related side-table book
The "SpaceX" label is embossed on the front, the rest of the cover is printed. Inside, it isn't just about SpaceX or Elon Musk, it discusses the state of the world pre and post 2020 pandemic and the impact of the close of the Cold War on space related activities, as well as other issues (like the 2008 mortgage crash) and retiring the Space Shuttle. It has a brief bio of Musk then gets into his different companies and the timeline, and development of SpaceX's amazing hardware. The pictures throughout are stunning. Some, like the Mercury 7, I've seen many times, but not as a full page high quality print in a hardcover book. Once I started reading it was tough to stop since it went over in some detail news events I'd witnessed live. With the good descriptions and excellent photos it is almost like watching a documentary. Very happy I'd gone ahead and ordered this book.

a vivid telling of a new space program
This is an illustrated history of "Space Race 2.o", which is to say, a brief overview of the space programs -- now plural -- starting with the NASA effort and continuing into the ventures by a new space industry, with the Blue Horizon program (Jeff Bezos), the Virgin Galactic program with Richard Branson, and, more and more in the narrative, Elon Musk's Space X, which seems to be the foremost effort at this point. The book takes us up to the start of 2024, and charts the various Space X efforts, from the Starlink satellite program to the recent Starship launches. NASA is still in the picture with its Artemis program and its cooperation with Space X, but the latter is definitely a leading effort. The book does sketch Musk's biography but mainly describes his role as a propulsive force behind Space X and its future vision. The book itself is a vivid telling, its prose succinct and the book well-illustrated -- the illustrations can be described as a coffee-table look but the pictures, both photographic and simulations, do complement and add to the narration. In all, the book is a good snapshot of the program at this point, and where it aims to go.

A great read by Bradley Bergan, an awesome addition to a space fanatic book collection
As someone who grew up, fascinated by space and flying machines, I was really looking forward to reading this book and checking the photography and details of the Space-X crafts. This book blew me away. As someone who began drawing B-25 Mitchells from WWII diagrams and maintenance manuals, this was a welcome addition to my book collection. Mr. Bergan has done an excellent job in delivering a wonderful book that is not a slobbering, over emblazing nod to Mr. Musk but has created a well-written and detailed account of the creation and evolution of what will most likely be seen in history as the driving force for space travel by the human race. Think Zefram Cochrane. The photography is beautiful, the pages are high-quality, the print is excellent. The cover is nicely done. The writing, details, and research is wonderful. Good job, Mr. Bergan. HIGH RECOMMENDED for any space travel fan.

Coffee table or summary type book with lots photos.
This is a summary of space companies and their aims and products. It's a coffee table type book with lots of color photos. Does not go in depth or behind the scenes. Not so much about Elon Musk as an overview of the whole industry.

Outstanding book on Space X and space technology.
This was a volume I was really looking forward to seeing and reading. It does not disappoint. I really like who the author puts the whole Space X saga and space into perspective. Although the book is about Space X, there is discussion off other programs including the Beezos Blue Origin so this isn't just a fanboy account. Rather this is an encompassing book which covers the vision, the hardware (including other programs) and the potential payoff for going to the Moon and/or Mars and include what is possible Lots of excellent pictures of past missions, current hardware and successful missions and plant of artist renderings. Having just watched a good portion of the Apple TV series For All Mankind, it really is moving from fiction to science fact. This is capturing something very exciting. Very enjoyable and a book I continue to look through and read. Highly recommended for space geeks, and I can't imagine a better gift for that teenager interested in this subject. Definitely an inspiring volume. Very well done.
