This set of shifter and brake housing and cable set is fantastic value overall! It comes with 4 shifter cables, enough to restore two complete bikes, and on top of that, it has enough cable housing for 1-2 bike restorations (depending on the cable setup of your bike). Also great is that the brake cables feature both MTB and Roadbike ends, so you can use them for either bike and just cut the unused end, very convenient. The cables are plain steel but just coat the cable with good quality grease and they will shift smooth and prevent rust.

Great price for all that you get. I needed a replacement shifter cable housing for a new installation. I also needed brake cables and housing for a future project. The cable housing on my new shifter performs well. The ferrules and cable ends seem cheap but they function well for now. One of the metal housings was smashed when it arrived. But there were enough to complete the job. When cutting the cable housings, I recommend using a poker to restore the housing to "round" condition. I also file the ends "flat" before installing the ferrules. My new shifter is now "slicker than snot on a doorknob." If the future brake cable job on my old road bike goes half as well, I will have met all my expectations. This a good value in cables, housings, ferrules and end caps. I recommend it.

First cables I bought, would buy again. Came with everything needed, even things I didn't know I needed when I bought the kit, had enough that I finished the project with some left over. Good quality, fits any bike because the cables are long enough and you just cut them to what you need. You will need some basic tools like a pair of cutters (just a nice set of dykes work fine) and you will probably want needle nose pliers. No special bike tools required.

I was making a custom brake system for my ebike and this worked out just perfectly. I had a double cable pull brake handle which is available on Amazon so I needed two separate cables to run to a break. They were was enough variation of cables and accessories in the kit to do exactly what I needed to do so I'm very pleased the price was also well within range. MarkMannM2

Shifter cable was about 6" too short to reach rear derailleur on a smallish bike with bar-end shifters. One cable housing had an obstruction preventing the cable from being pushed through that I was able to clear with a long thin metal rod. Otherwise fine.

Had to redo the wiring to both my front and rear derailer on my 1998 Giant bike. Never thought I would do that myself before seeing this kit which includes everything to a low price… it gave me the boost I needed to try and do it on my own. Even if I failed, I would have lost a few bucks and a few hours… but it worked perfectly, I love my old bike again and it motivates me to now change the brake wires… guess what? they were included!!! Plus all the small hardware comes with the kit!!!
