What are the jags for or how to use them?

Put the cleaning patch at the end of the barrel, use the jag at the end of the rod to push the patch through

what are the red things?

You use those after you run your wire brush through with boar cleaner to push the patches through to clean all the residue and cleaner out of your pipe so it's nice and clean free of copper or any lead left over. The kit comes with two different types of "red things" also you can run oil through the bore as well with the patches. Hope that helps
