Can this be used on brake calipers

Short answer no, but if you buy the brush on format(liquid) it looks lot nicer

Is it possible to spray this on?

I haven't tried to spray this material, however its viscosity looks suitable for spraying. I suspect that you will need a bigger quantity than the small 250ml tin if your going to spray. I applied the enamel with brushes and the finish on the engine was excellent.

Do you apply straight to the metal or does it need primer?

You need to thoroughly degrease the metal, something like upol panel wipe firstly. Then use a scouring method to create a 'key' for the paint to adhere to. Having done so, degrease with upol etc again. When thoroughly dry, degrease & lightly scuffed surface apply a thin coat of paint. Once dry, apply another thin coat & repeat. Build up to 4 or 5 layers to get that pro look & finish. Expect first few coats to appear patchy - DO NOT try to go full colour immediately or you will get thick uneven finish & runs that will be so hard to correct.
