The Official Strategy Guide from Nintendo Power Review: A little elementary. - This is a fun game for children. I did not find a real challenge with it. It would be funner for me, if it were not so easy to fall off the course. This seems like a good game to play with your children or grandchildren. Watching them enjoy the game will be your most enjoyment from the game. The colors and features of the courses are great, the best features of the game. Awesome! It is nice to be able to race with real people across the country on WiFi. Winning the races against others is not real easy, especially if they really know how to play it. If level is easy, you can win some races. For the person who has company to play with, this game definitely will be the game of choice. Nice, quick can be longer, not stressful, easy to learn, can get better, can choose different cars, can choose different characters. Those are the best aspect of the game, so appeals to a younger audience. Yes you have choices. Yes you can make fun choices. Yes you can learn from your choices. The level is elementary to middle school. High school students will enjoy it with good company (you be the judge), but what parent really wants company at those ages? Siblings may enjoy the game as well, because they can race against each other with multiple controllers. Review: Great game! - I bought this hoping for the best, I've always loved the Mario Kart games, and I was not disappointed! Not only did they have fun, new maps for the racing.. but they included ones from the older games as well! (Gamecube, N64, SNES, DS) My brother and sister played this game with me for several hours at a time. They definitely did a great job with this one, although I was disappointed to find that the controls had changed enough that I couldn't play this game with the Gamecube controller. Not a bad thing really, just something I thought I'd mention. One thing that I really liked that they implemented in this game is the Multi-player Versus and Battle modes. It got boring fast when it was just you and the 2-3 others playing with you. But in this one, both the Battle and Versus are team based so you have computers playing with you! It definitely adds to the fun and makes it that much more challenging! Especially if you up the difficulty of the computers :) Additionally, I enjoy that this one is not as easy as the past games. My brother, sister, and myself would end up beating the game and unlocking everything pretty quick. However, not only does Mario Kart Wii have tons of unlockables.. plenty of them are rather difficult to obtain! All in all, a great game whether you're new to the series or a fan of the Mario Kart games and great for all ages! I recommend this to anyone that is looking for a game to play with others :)

Get the wheel
Extremely fun, easy to play (once you get the hang of the controls (different with a wii remote)), and entertains even those watching and waiting to get their turn! Mario Kart is always fun, just wish there was a 2nd game so we could have more maps! Also, my friends and family members all have different opinions about the wheel, I say it's easier to drive with cause you don't have to hold the wii remote sideways and chance dropping it. You've got the wheel!

Even Fun for Fifty Year Olds!
Husband and I are in our fifties and we really enjoy racing our two, "young-uns" with this video game. Lots of different tracks and races, choices galore! We use the Wii wheels while playing and it makes it much easier to control the steering. All four of us are racing each other at the same time! The kids are getting the game figured out and learning how to do the tricks and other opportunities to show off but they have to help us sometimes know what button to push and when. Me and hubs would have figured it out anyways, but the kids like to help us on our learning curve. Important note: I tend to get sick after only a few minutes of video games that turn and sway, but I can hang in there for about 4 races before I have to quit. I think with more exposure I will be able to race as long as the kids can (assuming I have the time and nothing else to do....yeah....right) and I quit racing while I can still recover quickly. So, if you tend to get motion sickness like I do, I think if you take this game in bits and pieces you will be able to handle it. I barfed at Six Flags in the Batman area after riding some stupid ride so I can prove I get motion sick real easily. Just put the disk into your Wii console, and get to racing! UPDATE: 4.31.12 I have been playing this game a lot with my kids and have become able to race many times without become ill. If there is anything to complain about in this game, it would be that there are too many "bombs" or things to blow you off the track, stop you, or otherwise almost continually interfere with your race. I can see the point in having a few of these obstacles, but I think there are far too many and it leaves you practically at the mercy of the program on how you place at the end of the race and not so much on your racing skills.

Another Mario Kart, if you like the series, get it!
My favorite is still Mario Kart 64, but this one may be in second place. I feel like they focused too much on making the game new and exciting rather than balanced and fun but they still did pretty good at throwing everything together. It has tons of tracks, vehicles, characters, and is probably the most re-playable version of the series because there is so much stuff to unlock. I unlocked everything in the game using a stock character and vehicle so the unlocked stuff isn't overpowering like in past games. The unlock-able characters and carts seem well placed and often help you with your playing style. For example you unlock the fast characters while trying to do time trials or you get the agile carts from gold on the harder tracks. This game adds bikes, which I think adds nice diversity and feels very well balanced. The karts tend to be faster with better mini boosts from jumps and corners. The bikes can pop wheelies to get a mini boost on the straight stretches but are more vulnerable to being thrown off balance. My wife likes playing with karts and I like bikes, and I think she usually wins. Another feature to boost re-playability is the manual drift. All Mario Kart games had a power-slide around corners. In this one they give the choice of this drift being automatic or not. If you set it to automatic you don't get mini-boosts around corners. If you set it to manual you have to time when the slide starts but it is much more difficult than past games. It gives experienced players something extra to work on but doesn't seem unfair when somebody can drift manually well. I always use the nun-chuck. I can't stand using the wheel. I haven't seen a game that gets the remote tilt steering right yet. Maybe I'm just used to buttons after growing up with them. The one thing I hate about this game: the AI cheats with both hands. When you get into the harder levels in the Grand Prix it will be completely normal to be hit with two or three things in a row. For example say you're a few seconds ahead, they will hit you with a pow, red shell, and a lightning bolt in a row to keep you stopped for several seconds. The suspicious part is how did the AI time firing the red shell so it would catch up just after you got hit with the pow? The AI will also hit you at the worst times. Right after you go over jumps, or boosts, or right after you get a power-up, or right before you go around a corner with no railing, or just as you get to the bottom of a hill. Now some might call it coincidence but I just played for two hours and counted to make sure. Every time I was in 1st and hit with something it was at one of those five times. The other thing that is suspicious is if the AI slows you down enough they have saved power-ups for you so the horde will hit you three or four times to ensure you get clear back to 8th place or so. Personally, I'm sick of cheating AIs and feel there is no reason game makers should be short-cutting on such a critical part of their game, but it's become standard among games anymore. So bottom line, like I said above, if you've liked the Mario Kart series, get this one!

Review of game
I had this game years ago and lost my copy I just bought a new one back and it reminds me of how much I love to play it Mario Kart Wii is exactly what a video game is supposed to be just Shear fun to play broken up into 50cc, 100cc and 150cc you cannot only drive a different array of karts and characters but for the first time in this game you can drive bikes. Along with new tracks they've also revamped old ones from previous Mario Kart games the tracks are the same but they've updated them for the Wii graphics of course now that they've shut down Wii online you can't play it online anymore however you can play the single player mode which includes at Grand Prix which erase for races trying to finish first unlocking trophies new carts, bikes and characters and you can still play offline multiplayer with friends this game is exactly what a video game is supposed to be just pure pleasure to play you can use the regular Wii controller you can connect it to the Wii wheel you can use the old GameCube controller and the Classic Controller of course when you hit question mark boxes you can gain power ups and weapons to use against your competitors be careful though you could easily fall into your own trap things like banana peels and upside down boxes will stay on the track till there either hit or until the race is over there's a whole bunch more this game is a must-have for anybody who just wants to lean back relax and have a good fun time playing.

Son loves this
Even though it was used, it works perfectly. Plus a lot of the extras were already unlocked. Bonus!
