Great little box to extend your network and run multiple CCTV cameras
I'm using this to power/connect 3 Hikvision CCTV cameras. Two of the other ports are connecting up a Hikvision NVR, and a wifi access point. I've then plugged my router into the final port. I found the router had to be plugged into Port 6 for the unit to connect to my home network, otherwise setup was a breeze. You just plug the power cable in and plug your ethernet cables into the ports. Each of the ports has an LED light that flashes reassuringly to show you that data is flowing through the connection. The 4 POE ports (although it's a 6 port switch only ports 1-4 are powered) also have an additional light to show you that the port is sending power to your device(s). The unit feels fairly sturdy for something at this price point, being made of metal. It looks good (especially with all those flashing lights) and is small enough to be mounted on top of your desk, or hidden away somewhere. If you do want to desk-mount it, the unit comes with stick-on rubber feet which do a decent enough job of securing it in place, but with all those stiff ethernet cables going into the front, if one of the cables moves the unit could move, so you might want to mount it more firmly. There are fixing holes on the underside for this purpose. Network performance wise I've seen no issues whatsoever, although it does come with some basic toggle switches which enable you to prioritise bandwidth and power to certain ports, if required. All in all a great little unit.

Small, compact, easy to use, never had a problem
I have 2 of these in operation - very simple, plug and play - no configuration. I use these to bring multiple devices easily onto my network - IP security cameras. Small and compact, attached to a wall (with velcro tape). If the product can be improved then I think having the ability to attach to the wall with screw fittings would be beneficial.

Good quality product.
As all TP products, build and cost is very good. Would recommend.

Works well.
Didn’t know anything about this when my son told me this was part of what was needed for him to put up two security cameras for us. Imagined it was bigger and would need its own shelf and almost put one up, glad I didn’t as it’s about the same size as a large box of Maltesers and can be hung up on two screws on a wall. A good buy and security cameras brilliant, we are much safer now. Patrick

Great little gizmo.
I’m not always TP-Link’s biggest fan (I found their Homeplus adapters very unreliable). This however is just great. I had one POE cctv camera in my loft. That was on a combined Homeplug/POE adapter. When I added a second camera, I could have bought another Homeplug/POE adapter, but this seemed like a more elegant, extensible solution. I plugged in the two cameras to this hub and the hub to a Homeplug adapter. My NAS is just downstairs on a Homeplug adapter. Two HD cameras running permanently not a problem. I’ve had this hub for just over a year now. It has not missed a beat or needed a restart since I got it (just over a year). I’ve recently moved my router into the loft temporarily for testing of my broadband. That means that all my traffic between NAS and router is currently going through the hub alongside the IP cameras. Not an ideal permanent solution, but the hub has coped fine.

All-in-all a great device. Even with the 10/100Mbps-tag it performs well enough for home-user needs.
Good enough for running set of two security cameras. No setup needed so good choice for everyone. Mine is plugged to another TP-link switch downstairs and anything I plug to this one, gets instantly recognized by my network. I personally would prefer the port LED's on the other side of the device. That way I could mount it to a wall fex, have the wiring come from below and with a fast glance from the front I could see if somethings amiss. This would naturally require the power input from the port-side, but I recon this is market-tested design so can't really argue with it :) (Mine is still unmounted as the full-house cabling drained my energy)

Great switch with POE that extends power to my POE+ access point, one small complaint is that I would rather to plug the power cable into the front side along with the ethernet ports like a desktop switch, it's a bit inconvenient because the power cable has to go around the switch, which clutters wires around it, especially if both power and ethernet comes from the same side.

I may have purchased the wrong product, but there is no “ incoming “ slot for the modem. It’s all outgoing slots. I don’t get it
