GENUINE PART GP1229656 Canister Repair Kit, For single flush canister toilets, Includes cap, center guide and chain

I only needed the yellow cap but changed out the whole thing. This was the easiest repair I have ever made.

I have a Kohler Tresham toile I installed a little over 10 years ago, and the canister valve at that tine was a female fitting (the fill line inserted into a hole in the top of the canister valve). Over time, this became worn and the line would no longer stay inserted in the canister. The main result of this is that the bowl would not refill to the proper level after flushing. This part instantly solved the problem in less than 10 minutes.The installation is very simple, there are no special tools or plumbing knowledge required, and there are a number of very good YouTube videos that can walk you through the process. After shutting off the water and draining the tank (a simple flush will do). turn the canister a quarter turn to remove it, remove the top from the center piece and remove that from the canister, insert the bottom of this repair piece up through the bottom of the canister, innsert the yellow top piece, and replace the canister in the reverse of how ou removed it (insert and turn one quarter turn). I would also recommend that you replace the seal around the bottom of the canister while you have it out. It's worth the $3 for the seal to save yourself another job in the future.

Original Equipment. Superb quality. This Kohler Toilet GP1229656 Canister Repair Kit is a direct replacement for the original part number GP1063553 that came with my Kohler K4413 Toilet. It is a common failure mode for these to fracture at the base. It required about 3 minutes to replace. I was able to prevent the broken end from falling into the toilet bowl flushing flow path by carefully using my fingers to retrieve it.

Fits, but bad design. This is the 3rd time I've repaired in 3yrs of this toilet being installed. Kohler needs to reinforce the connecting tab so that it doesn't break the way all 3 have.

Exactly what I needed. The yellow plastic cap had snapped the tabs, rendering the toilet unflushable. The two unit item was installed in less than 5 minutes the hardest part was reattaching the chain. It’s as good as new.

unlike other choices on Amazon at a lesser cost, I decided to pay a bit more for this item that is a Kohler OEM replacement part which assured was a perfect fit and that made for a most easy and seamless replacement......

If your toilet tank looks like photo 1 under the lid, this kit will fit. All I needed was the yellow disk on the right side of photo 1. The "ears" or tabs on the underside of the yellow disk had broken off (see photo 2) which allowed the disk to flop around and interfere with the flush mechanism. The 3.25-inch black cylinder has to smoothly go up to release the water from the tank into the bowl and then back down to seal the drain. In my case, the black cylinder was not seating properly to seal the drain, and the toilet would just keep running.All I had to do was pull the old yellow disk off the little hose, and then line up the tabs on the new disk with the slots in the existing black center guide, press it into place and twist it a little clockwise to lock it into place. Re-attach the small hose to the nipple on top of the new disk, put the lid back on the tank, and you're done. Two-minute job, and I didn't even have to drain the tank.

Kohler replacement part worked perfectly and was very easy to install, took 5 minutes!

There are a couple videos around the web on how to install this thing but nothing could be easier.Grab the old one, quarter turn counter-clockwise, remove, insert new one, 1/4 turn clockwise, hang the chain, close the lid. Seriously - fix in under a minute. Original clearly has a design flaw where the plastic fatigues over time and breaks, but the repair is simple enough

I thought I needed a canister replacement, when the cap part broke (black top piece in one of the photos). I couldn't visualize how this piece would work, but took a chance after reading more about it in the reviews. Not a lot of easy to find info out there, so for 18 dollars or so, I was willing to try this out. Got the piece today, and fixed the toilet in less than 5 minutes. Basically, it's the stem inside the canister (which has no issues, and I had recently replaced). I went to Canadian Tire, home Depot x 2, Rona plus and not one of those stores had this item or even a cannister style valve. My next step was to just buy a new toilet.Just glad I checked here, and hopefully this may save someone else some time if they have the same issue.Pic with the yellow top is the new piece.
