The first time my golden puppy has used the holder, it slipped out once but I tightened it again I have had no further issues. (I think it was user error) She is a major chewer, but I couldn't give her bully sticks without a holder as she would swallow large pieces and that's a major choking hazard. I buy the 6 inch bully sticks and when using this it takes her a long time to finish and she never swallows big pieces. This is amazing and is worth every penny!

It doesn't stay tight against the bully sticks, and my puppy(8 months old) gets the bully stick out within minutes of having it. Today he was right next to me, got the bully stick out and choked all within a minute. Great idea, but needs some definite issues worked out to be safer for dogs.

***I am updating this review because while I was dissatisfied with this product, I'm kind of in awe how much they have went out of the way to understand the problem, compensate and ask legitimate feedback questions. Customer service like that is a lost art and deserves 4 stars alone. They have notified me that there has been updates to the product as well.*** There are better ones for MUCH cheaper. This is a decent "quality" item but the screw mechanism is terrible. It's recessed into the end of the piece...so if you have an aggressive chewer, the only way to secure the bully in it is to crank the screw down with a vise grip. Hardly optimal.

The hold on the collagen stick pictured is exceptional. Our cattle dog pulled sticks out of all sizes of Bully Grips. He has not been able to budge the stick in this Bow Wow Labs holder. I was skeptical after reading reviews about the flat head on the bit that screws down. It's not a problem. The stick is very secure. We'll see how the tension holds up. If it remains strong, I highly recommend this holder! If it fails for any reason I will revise this review. Edit: My dog is a very strong, heavy chewer. He pulled the last bit out. I think it's because al the slobber lubricates it. I think this solution will make it a perfect holder. With a proper sized spade bit drill an indentation in the treat for the holder pin to sit in. I don't see how it's possible to get it out now. I'll let you know if he does. :-) I didn't reduce the star rating because it's so superior to other holders I've tried.

This is awesome when it works but I would say 90% of the time, it does not hold the bully stick securely. Either my puppy gets it out or the stick just never feels secure in the holder. Super disappointing given the cost and the fact that my pup loves it when it works.

We initially purchased the large size holder which worked fairly well but had issues with some bully sticks that were on the smaller size. Logically, we thought buying a smaller sized holder would fix the issue. Nooooope! The smaller sized holders were actually worse at holding the smaller sized bully sticks! With the large holder, the rod that presses into the bully stick forms a point where it contacts the bully stick, like the end of a pencil. With the smaller sized holders they shaved this point off and made it flat, and shortened the length of the rod. This results in the same amount of space between the bottom of the rod (now flat) and the bottom of the hole that the bully stick slips into. Additionally, because there’s no longer a point where the rod contacts and exerts pressure on the bully stick, the holding power is far less effective. The rod for all versions of the holder needs to come to a point, and the length of the rod for all versions needs to be extended about a quarter inch. Now we have three different sized holders that don’t work for same medium to smaller sized bully sticks. If they reworked the rod, this would be a five star product. 06/11/2024 UPDATE: Bow Wow Labs reached out to offer a full refund because of this issue. While this is greatly appreciated, I still wish they would make a few design changes to their product as there is nothing else out there that satisfies this need.

Does a good job - just ensure you have the right size bully sticks or they either won't fit or will slip through. Common sense, but worth a reminder :) Great for keeping my pup safe from the ends, but I also like that it makes the bully sticks more visible so I'm not accidently stepping on them.

My 5 month old put mix looooves bully sticks but sometimes has trouble holding them and then she loses interest and starts being a puppy (you know what I mean). But with this holder she really is able to get a grip on it and it keeps her preoccupied for awhile!!! Also it’s great peace of mind knowing she can’t chock on the end of the stick with this holder. Just all around great buy! I ordered the medium size and my puppy is 5months and 15 lbs. I want her to be able to grow into it.
