Small, lightweight, bright and sharp, but ergonomics could be better
I wanted a small 'scope that would fit in my work bag, to take with me when travelling to conferences etc. I researched thoroughly, and this seemed to tick all of my boxes, but I sent it straight back to Amazon. The materials and build quality are great, and the optics are impressive - for something so tiny it really is very bright and sharp. But in use, I find that turning the eyepiece to focus is really clunky, and means you can't quickly get the eye relief right. I had to focus first, then adjust my eye position to get the best view - the opposite to how I work with good binoculars. So there's that, but my real reason for sending them back was that the 5x magnification just wasn't strong enough for me. I completely get the argument in favour of 8x instead of 10x binoculars - you can see more, better, with 8x because the view isn't as shaky - and all the reviews suggested that monoculars are harder to hold steady, and that this 5x would give a perfect combination of steadiness and power. It was steady for sure, after focusing, but not really powerful enough to be worth rummaging for in my bag. An impressive bit of kit, but just didn't offer enough magnification to be worthwhile - I sent it back and bought an Opticron VHD 8x42 model instead - that's bigger, lumpier, but still half the size of equivalent binoculars, easy to carry in my bag, and *astonishingly* brilliant. At some point I may revisit a very small scope, but if I can afford it I'll buy the Leica Monovid.

Optically superb but very expensive and providing you can get close enough a much cheaper magnifying glass works just as well.
