Just what I ordered

This stuff is so amazing! Much easier to use than the gel, liver of sulfur and less messy. A little goes along way, which is really great if you’re just doing one or two projects at a time. Seems to have a much less potent smell than the gel as well. I highly recommend this product. Make your water hot and run your project under hot water as well for best results.

This worked well and very quickly to darken clean copper. I was hoping for dark brown but the color is more dark charcoal. The package suggests a ratio of 1 ounce of product to 1 quart of water, which I did. The action is quite fast so get your copper in and out quickly and rinse it off. Too long and it forms big black flakes all over the surface. The instructions say if that happens to add more water. I had to double the water to get the reaction down to a duration I could deal with with my fairly large object (couldn't dunk it). I feel the instructions should be more conservative of the product and start with 1/2 ounce of chemical to a quart of water. That way you can always add more chemical if needed instead of using twice as much as needed and maybe having to clean all the black flakes off of your object to start over.

when it comes to this kind of patinas a strong smell is a good indicator of the product, in this case it smell like hell. I took the precaution to change the containter to a darker one with an hermetic lid. I have only used small fragments of this product and works really well, instant blackener and rotten egg-like freshener

I’ve had the gel which seemed to dry up in the bottle over time. The dry form should last a much longer time as long as it is kept dry. I’ve used it about 5 times and haven’t even put a dent in the jar. I put a rock in a bag and give it a good smack with the hammer to get smaller pieces. Do this outside. Just a tiny piece is all you need.

Pour mes divers articles de laiton, il n'y eu aucun oxydation digne de mention. Achetez autre chose. Doesn't react to any brass pieces I tried, look for another product to age brass.
