Why did I wait to switch?
GOATED water filter. 25 seconds for a liter. I came from using the Sawyer Mini which was very reliable and easy to back flush and if you're not in a hurry it works fine. Then I switched to the standard Sawyer and it just never really flowed that great for me, easy to clog, needs to be back flushed regularly, needed a plunger at all times. Used the Platypus Quickdraw for the first time this weekend and couldn't believe the flow rate. I used the gravity filter attachment that comes with the filter and it almost takes longer to set the gravity system up than to just pump my liter of water and go to the next one. Easy to shake clean with some fresh water and also easy enough to use gravity system to back flush if you still needed to. Don't know why I suffered with drips of water from Sawyer when I could have been using the Quickdraw all along. Another great product from Platypus, will be recommending to all my hiker friends.

I think it's better than the Sawyer squeeze
I do a lot of thru-hiking. Long trails such as the PNT, PCT, CDT, GET, and many others where a filter is needed. Until recently, I've almost exclusively used the Sawyer Squeeze. I used it with a CNOC bag and the SP150 coupler to hand filter my water. It's worked good, but then I tried this one last year for a thru of the CDT. Compared to the Squeeze, this has a faster flow rate (at least initially). The filter seemed to slow down a little faster than the sawyer, but was quick and easy to back flush. The thing that make this filter nice is the lighter weight compared to the Squeeze. This filter (dry) comes in at 2.4 ounces complete (with adapters and end caps) compared to the 2.9 ounce weight of the Squeeze. If you add the SP150 coupler for the Squeeze to do hang filtering, it adds another 0.2 ounces. It's not a lot of extra weight, but when your walking 3000 miles, any reduction in weight helps. The bottle adapters needed to connect to water bottles (Dasani, Smartwater) and bags (CNOC, Playpus, and others) are included as part of the filter ends. The filter also includes caps to seal the ends, something the Sawyer doesn't have. I got Giardia on a previous hike with the Sawyer which I'm sure happened due to keeping the filter in a ziploc bag and having water droplets get into the input side of the filter (the Platypus is fully enclosed with the end caps on, so you don't need a ziploc for it). I hiked the CDT and never had to replace this filter. I did keep in well maintained and back flushed it in every town. During the hike, I was also able to integrity test the filter and it maintained integrity even after the hike was done. For my next big hike, I did replace the filter to be safe, but it probably could of kept going fine. I'm not saying the Squeeze is bad, but the Quickdraw does things better. Quick summary: Quickdraw weight: 2.4 ounces (complete) vs 3.1 ounces for the Squeeze (3.1 ounces with SP150 coupler, more if you add end caps) Bottle adapters and end caps are included with the Quickdraw filter Quickdraw has fast flow rate when hang filtering and back flushes easily It's a bit cheaper than the Sawyer Squeeze

Best filter on the market!!
The flow rate on these is crazy compared to all the other brands Iโve used. These are the only filters Iโll ever use. Great price, great flow and easy to use. These things look great, are lightweight and are the ideal size for those back country adventures. Plus they last forever.

best backpacking filter
This has better flow than my sawyer swueeze! I needed a replacement for a 10 day trip to isle royal and this was orange (my favorite color!) So i tried it out. Really easy to backflush. Screws onto the standard soft bottles and smartwater bottle. I like how it can turn into an inline filter without an adaptor. Lightweight, so i wasnt fussed carrying it long distance.

Well thought out product
This really works fast for a filter. I have a Sawyer filter as well and this one is somewhat faster filtering. It does have a bigger opening. What I REALLY like about this filter is the caps on each end. One is a screw on for the dirty side and the other side has a flip cap for the clean side. The flip cap is easily screwed off to utilize the adapter for water bottles like your standard convenience store water bottle. It's also easy to clean and then put away whenever you are done. The caps are really helpful when you need to keep the filter on your person in freezing weather. You don't have to worry about getting wet from the filter. The only drawback is that it doesn't have a hose connect attachment. I have a bladder and that would be the icing on the cake for it. They may offer them elsewhere but it would be nice if they were part of the kit. Overall, a great product.

Quality filter, but reduced protection against Protozoa and a bit heavy compared to the competition.
Works as advertised, however if weight is a concern, this filter is heavy for what you get. While it has a great flow rate, that comes with tradeoffs. This filter is Log 3 (99.9% effectiveness against Protozoa) compared to something like the Lifestraw Peak Series (Log 5, 99.999%) or Sawyer Squeeze (Log 6, 99.9999%). In areas with a large potential for animal contamination, those extra 2 or 3 "9s" can mean going from a 1 in 100,000 chance of getting sick to a 1 in 1,000 or worse odds. I'm willing to accept the odds for a weekend or multi-day trip. However, for a month long or multi-month thru-hike where you're filtering 3-4 liters a day, I'd opt for the increased protection and suffer the slower flow rate. I do appreciate the ability to seal both ends so I can tuck it in a pocket or sleeping bag in freezing weather without worrying about leaks. The integrity check is also a nice feature that is lacking for most of it's competitors.

Integrity Check FTW
This filter has been my favorite for years. I've had a few of them, and gifted many. I love that I can easily perform an integrity check without needing anything else, and cleaning the filter and drying it out for winter are both super simple. The only time my filter stopped working, was due to my own negligence: dropping it off a cliff on accident. It's size is perfect, in that it pairs well in the pocket that I keep my Spyderco Salt Assist, and weighs next to nothing. The first one I owned, I still have today, and the one I'm reviewing for was my backup that I dropped off a cliff. 10/10 value. One thing that really makes this my go to filter is simply the unparalleled flow rate compared to all other backpacking filters I have seen on the trail. Plus most of those, you can't easily perform an integrity check, and that's super important for me.

Perfect.
The gold standard. I thru-hiked the AT and this kept me safe the whole way. After 2200 miles it still had decent flow. I love that you can check to see if the filter is still working via the bubble test, gives some peace of mind. Highly recommend.

Heaps good
My first one wouldn't prime/had terrible flow. Luckily I got a replacement and the second one has been awesome! I had a lifestraw before and I reckon the quickdraw in 100 times faster. Very thoughtful details.
