Picked this up for my next door family, got tired of his flag being torn and faded.

Good flag

This is a really well-made flag. The fabric is heavy nylon, the perimeter and all the seams are double-stitched except for the fly end, which is quadruple stitched. The grommets are brass (I checked) and the header is thick and stiff. The flag is quite heavy for its 5'x3' size - 9.65 ounces - and a lot of this weight comes from the central panels carrying the fully embroidered eagle (there is a panel on each side of the flag, making it viewable from all directions). It's a wonderful flag and I would rate it 10 stars based on its materials and construction. However, it arrived folded up and packaged in a vacuum sealed bag (the package was just about stiff as a board and my wife thought for sure that there was a piece of heavy cardboard inside, but there wasn't - it was just the heavy flag squeezed tight under vacuum). The vacuum packaging protected the flag very well and squeezed it into the minimum possible volume, but it also put sharp and persistent creases into the flag where it was folded. I don't think these creases will ever come out just from hanging the flag, so it will first need to be ironed. It's not a big deal but it's sort of a pain, so the flag still rates 5 stars based on its intrinsic greatness but really the creasing reduces it to 4.5 stars.

Very cheap material

This is the German national flag with the "unofficial" coat of arms (Bundesflagge mit Bundeswappen). The official flag (Bundesdienstflagge) has a different coat of arms and is for use only by the federal government. This is the version that is approved for private use and display. Great size at approx 3ft by 5ft, a pretty standard display flag size. The coat of arms is decently thick and well made, with quality embroidery, not just printed on. Excellent stitching all around, with the different stripes, emblem, and borders all very tight and correct. Metal grommets in the white reinforced mounting panel for durability. The stripes of the flag are not printed, but are actual separate fabric colors stitched together. If you're looking for a modern German flag, this is the one. Excellent quality which justifies the price. This isn't one of those cheap polyester printed ones, it's the real deal.

This flag is really nice - durable nylon with double-stitched seams and hems, and brass grommets. The colors are accurate, but because it has the federal shield with the eagle, it's technically a flag that is used only by official German government agencies (although the eagle is just slightly different from that on the official Bundesschild). That's OK because you'd probably only use this flag as a decorative element at an Oktoberfest or club event; no one in Germany would fly this flag - they're not really into displays of nationalism anyway LOL. Overall this is a very nice flag and should hold up to years and years of occasional use.

Das Tuch hat eine sehr gute Qualität. Die Nähte und Ösen sind tadellos. Das Highlight ist ohne Frage das Bundeswappen in ‚gestickter‘ Qualität - wirklich großartig. Es ist einigermaßen schwer eine Bundesfahne zu finden, die nicht einfach bedruckt ist und dazu in diesem Preis Segment. Großartig. Hinweis 1: die Fahne kommt vakuum verpackt und muss unbedingt ausgiebig gebügelt werden (niedrige Temperatur, mit Dampf, da Kunstfaser). Hinweis 2: Das Falten laut Protokoll ist aufgrund des Wappens nicht wirklich möglich. (Wappen ist als ein großer, zusammenhängender ‚Fleck‘ aufgenäht oder verklebt. Sehr wertig, ist aber nicht flexibel. Beim falten nach Protokoll müsste man das Wappen mit viel Kraft ‚knicken‘ das wollte ich nicht - daher wird sie ‚wild‘ gefaltet gelagert..). Alles in allem die beste DE Fahne die ich jemals gekauft habe in diesem Format!

Got this flag, mostly because it looks cool. I was curious as well to see the quality of the stitching. The material is very heavy style nylon. The embroidery looks quite nice as well. It has very heavy grommets that look well made and that they will hold up to the test of time. I did notice when holding this up to the light, looking close you can see the light shining through around where it is stitched together. Not sure if this is just a quality control issue - But, I think it deserves a mention. I just got this flag - So I am unsure how this would affect its "heavy-duty" title. I mostly bought this for show and not really to fly often with my other usual flags. So, it shouldn't be a problem for me. But, I can see others who intend to fly this not really liking this.
