The New Greek-English Interlinear New Testament: A New Interlinear Translation of the Greek New Testament, United Bible Societies' Fourth, Corrected ... the New Revised Standard Version, Testament

All that I expected it to be and more. Recommended as good support to those learning old testament Greek as I am attempting to do. Find the print a little small though which means the breathings are difficult to pick up easily. I have to use a magnifing glass. Very irritated by the stickly label price tag glued on the front which completely ruined the dust cover and left an unpleasant round sticky circle when I removed it and it seems that sticky patch will remain forever to set my nerves on edge. I wish they wouldn't do that because I so like the tactile pleasure of books and the wretched label has ruined it for this book. If you are of a scholarly mind you should appreciate the great care that has been taken to put this useful volume together. A good buy

The text is clear and includes all the accents and breathings (which you sometimes need to be aware of). There is also a good fairly literal translation next to the interlinear text. Inevitably with an interlinear the translators choose what they consider the closest english equivalent. I would disagree only very occasionally. Very helpful in aiding comprehension of the original. Quite compact so easy to carry around.

Good size, text not too small. Paper good quality. Clear layout. It has the Greek, with an English translation under it word for word, and a translation (NRSV) in the margins. I would say they could have left out the NRSV in the margins, as I imagine most people would buy this book as a supplement to, rather than a replacement of, their own copy of the New Testament. The NRSV crammed into the margins is not really necessary. Ideally I would have liked to see a sort of running glossary in the footnotes - do any of these Greek words have multiple possible translations, or are they untranslatable into modern English? I would have liked to see more notation along those lines.

Having 'lost' my trusty Greek NT, bought 42 years ago, in a house move, I was keen to obtain either an identical copy or a well reviewed newer interlinear translation. What a complex web of reviews, from a snarling, vindictive writer with a fundamentalist axe to grind, to a number of well written, soberly considered articles. Personally, I was pleased with the New Interlinear with its familiar introductory sections and lay-out. The one criticism I have is the unnecessarily capitalised version of the translation, with looks awkward. It was nonetheless good to have the RSV alongside, which I think is the best modern translation. Overall, a very good buy.

A fantastic copy of the Greek New Testament for those learning the language. Because the words all have an English translation beneath them I was able to avoid the painful task of sifting through a dictionary for hours trying to find the meaning. It really has helped improve my Greek.

I have wanted an interlinear New Testament for some time. Buying it from "Amazon" was easy. Delivery was quick (as usual). The book has met all my needs, and is in use most days. I would recommend both Amazon and this book to anyone looking for this type of book

A very useful aid to my understanding of the Greek, especially as it gives the translation below the words as well as the RSV alongside. Word order in Greek can be confusing for a beginner such as myself.

A good interlinear English translation of the Greek New Testament is possibly one of the three or four essential tools for serious New Testament study, along with a superior New Testament Theological dictionary and a good New Testament Greek - English lexicon. I have used two, `The New Greek - English Interlinear New Testament', translated by Robert K. Brown and Philip W. Comfort, with the marginal NRSV translation and `The Interlinear NASB - NIV Parallel New Testament in Greek and English' translated by Alfred Marshall. I originally bought both thinking that I would want one for each of the two primary scholarly translations, the NIV and the NRSV. In the end, I discovered that neither marginal translation in these editions held any value for me whatsoever, since I will certainly have my Bible translation of choice open while using the interlinear translation anyway. I am also just a bit concerned that Marshall does not clearly announce which version of the Greek text he is using. Brown and Comfort use the United Bible Societies' Fourth Corrected Edition / Novum Testamentum Graece, 27th edition. What is really important, I discovered, especially for a Greek newbie like me is that the second of these two has significantly larger print for both the English and the Greek, and it is therefore far easier to find the verse I am seeking, when in search of a particular word. Added to this the fact that Brown and Comfort place both chapter and verse numbers at the start of every verse makes the passage in question even easier to find. Marshall may also have some value if you are partial to the NRSV and you don't have an NIV translation, this is a way to satisfy two needs with one book, except that the marginal translations in Marshall are even harder to read than the Greek and interlinear translation. Marshall's text is not without its virtues, although I consult it rarely. The first is that the NASB and NIV marginal translations are divided by titles dividing the sections, just as you may find in a study bible. This makes it just a bit easier to zero in on the 8 - 16 verses you are looking for, since the headings, such as Luke's `The Parable of the Tenants' is so distinctive. Both volumes also include notes from the NASB, NIV, and NRSV translators, however, I don't use these either, since the same notes are in my NRSV study bible, and, again, my primary objective is simply to find THE EXACT Greek word used in a particular context. From there, I can do my own research in the dictionaries. So, regardless of which English translation you use, I prefer Brown / Comfort for their readability.
