I recently tested the SYNCO XTalk X5 wireless headsets on a shoot, using three of the five included in the pack. Pros: The battery life is impressive, making these headsets practical for longer shoots, and the price point is ideal for budget-conscious filmmakers needing multiple headsets. Cons: Unfortunately, I experienced a roughly one-second audio delay, which made communication less seamless. Another downside is the constant audio prompts when powering on/off the units; these cannot be disabled, at least to my knowledge, and they became distracting. Additionally, the build quality leaves room for improvement; the headsets feel flimsy, and all three units I used had issues staying on securely. When switching from “on” to “off,” the headsets sometimes slipped entirely, which happened across team members of different head sizes, suggesting a design flaw. Overall: This set is practical for filmmakers on a budget needing a basic communication solution on set or during events, as long as they’re okay with minor compromises. The 5-pack includes headsets, a hardshell case, soft velvet bags, five batteries, three dual chargers, charging cables, labeling stickers, and extra ear cushions—a thorough setup for the price.

Four stars because Synco has terrible customer service and product instructions. We purchased an x2 and an x5 to get seven headsets. We could not get them to pair the "Level 2" designated headsets - when we pressed the button for four "beeps", we received a strange musical tone instead of "Level 2 pairing." Turns out, Synco ships its x2 and x5 headsets with firmware that supports only up to five headsets. The firmware must be replaced with the 13 headset firmware. Once we updated every headset to the 13-unit firmware, the pairing worked fine (Except the Master headset from the x2 set has to be a level 1 and can't pair as a level 2. Go figure). We tried to contact Synco for support, but all they have is an email request. They also have chat, but there was no one working when we tried that route. When Synco finally responded to our email, all they did was regurgitate what is in their instructions -- didn't even read our email for comprehension; probably an automated response. When I pointed out their error and the fix we found, all they did was regurgitate what we had said to them. No help at all. Oh, and those instructions. Too small too read and too confusing to follow. It's a shame, because the product is unique, cost effective, and has become instrumental to us. But it wasn't worth the pain of figuring out the firmware!

Overall pretty solid system! I got around 100-150 yards line of sight before I encountered problems with signal dropping out. I would say if you are in an interior event center like churches, wedding venues, smaller event centers, you shouldn't have any issues with signal dropping out. Probably wouldn't use in large stadiums or for concerts due to the 1 earpiece. But overall... good value and good quality! Would recommend to small creative teams on a budget! PROS: Good sound quality and volume level. Good battery life. Great carrying case and organization system. Really easy to use! CONS: Cheaper feel, won't be ideal for concert setting due to 1 earpiece speaker. Build quality feels like it is a budget system (which this is, so it met my expectations)

This is actually the world’s first decentralized full duplex wireless intercom headset system, so they are de-hosted, meaning any one of them can be a master. They’re very easy to use, simply insert the battery, flip the “on” switch and hold down the button to pair all of the activated headsets. The interface is rather intuitive, as it should be (otherwise you’d have to take the headset off every time you need to adjust something). There are buttons to increase/decrease volume, and you mute your headset by simply flipping the microphone up. There is a setting where the master headset can override all other headsets, muting their microphones and only allowing them to listen to the person with the master headset speaking. They have great range and the signal also transmits through walls/floors easily. My favorite feature which I find most practical on set is the real-time monitoring through the 3.5mm mic port. If you plug a headset into your audio recorder with a 3.5mm cable (not included), all other headsets can also monitor the audio in real time. That’s something I’ve never seen personally! The battery life lasts all day, they boast a 24 hour battery life, and include multiple chargers for the batteries, though there are no extra batteries (5 included for the 5 headsets). There is also a lot of value in the included carrying case which fits everything neatly and makes it nice and portable. I would highly recommend this for a small film set for easy communication or even allowing multiple crew members to monitor audio at once!

Didn’t work well in a church settings I could not hear my other team members, noise cancellation was turned on too I’m not sure what’s happening I message the supplier about the problems I face

We got this set for our 8th grade football team. Works great! We play our games in the high school stadium and we had no problems whatsoever. 1 coach up in the press box and 4 coaches down on the sidelines. Crystal clear audio. No static or interruptions. Easy to use. Paired instantly once turned on. Carrying case is excellent. Hard mold to protect everything and soft inner bags for each headset.
