Works well for the price and for what I need
I didn't need anything fancy, I just wanted to lock and unlock my door easily and allow my kid to get into the house in an emergency with his fingerprint (he actually likes the code better). For that, it works really well. Here's a breakdown: Ease of installation - it's dead simple if you already have a deadbolt. Just pay attention to little things like which screws go where and how the old one is setup. I also recommend changing out the strike plate (the metal part connected to the doorframe) with the Phillips one because it seems bigger than my old one. The other one screwed up the unit and made it lockup but worked fine after I changed it out. The hardest part of the whole thing is figuring out the cord between the two units. Oh and the door sensor instructions are not clear. Just put it level to the top of the unit and it should work. I had to move mine because it wasn't clear where they wanted it. Ease of setup - pretty easy as well. I had my fingerprints in the system in about 5 minutes (4 fingers total). Another 5m for my kid. It also has you adjust the door to make sure it knows when it's open/closed. It screwed up at first but seems to be working fine now. Ease of daily use - it's just been a day but I get how it works pretty easily. It will auto-lock after you leave, but you can just use your fingerprint to get back in if you left something. My kid is short so his fingerprints do not register that well. However, he likes the code better anyway, and that works just fine. Mine work perfectly. You can also open the app and use that. It's pretty quick. There's just one gripe so far. There's a button on the unit itself that seems to just lock the door only. Every Airbnb I've ever been in (that uses a cheap knockoff of this) that button will close AND open the door. The mechanism to open is smooth and easy, but the button only good for one way is an odd choice and not that useful.

If you're frustrated with other brands of keyless entry try this!
I've waited a few months before reviewing because I had another brand keyless entry that was cheaper and had so many problems with that brand (and the other brand wasn't exactly cheap). I can say after using this multiple times a day over the last months the fingerprint scanner is absolutely excellent. The only issues I've had scanning was when I had something obscuring my print (like over spray from paint etc). A visiting friend used the touch pad with no problem but honestly we haven't had to use it yet because the print scanner just simply works. Another thing we love that I thought was a gimmick: the magnet that tells you on the app if the door is open. This isn't a sensor for when the door is just unlocked it literally tells you that the door is ajar etc. I thought this would be a glitchy gimmick but even testing it by almost closing the door (but not fully closing it leaving a tiny crack) the sensor knows it's not aligned and says the door is open. We use the wifi to check on the app if the doors are unlocked before bed and you can press a button to lock them. You can have the app push you a message every time the lock in unlocked (whether manually or by fingerprint or code). You can customize the app so you get a many or as few notifications as you want, and thank god the app has yet to send us a "are you interested in this upgrade deal this month?' or any nonsense. I'm old school and I don't want an app for my refrigerator or lawnmower but in this instance I like having the app, the info, and being able to lock a door I forgot from across town. I've bought two so far and I'm going to get 2 more for "seldom used" doors just because it's so handy. If you already have a deadbolt spot then installation is going to be a breeze, since I was replacing a similar sized off brand it took me less than 10 mins per lock since it was just a swap. Battery life so far is good, and the app will show you how much life is left. Cost more than other brands and 1000% worth it after struggling with another brand for almost a year. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Very Feature Rich Lock for price ($125)
Overall would absolutely recommend - very good product at very reasonable price! Why 4 star not 5: -------------------- This is the first deadbolt / smart lock I have installed - so maybe this isn't fair. I thought the lock would be more "substantial" and robust. The build quality was good (parts fit together well and was well designed) just didn't impress me as a "strong" deadbolt for security. Also - when installing the deadbolt mechanism (into side of door) - the provided black screw head broke off - leaving one of the two mounting holes unuseable (Phillips - please don't skimp on screw quality). Few Thoughts After Install: ------------------------------ 1. PLEASE - use the excellent videos from Ideaspace on the Amazon website (this product page - Product Details Section - Videos)!!! (Philips 4000 series Installation Steps https://www.amazon.com/vdp/04a61d61cfd4438db1cc20bc5349d95b?ref=ive_share_mshop_detail). So much more consistent with actual product, accurate and clearer then the paper manual and/or the Philips installation videos you land on when scanning the QR code in paper manual. Also wish they would have numbered the screws to know what screws go where ! 2. Didn't use "top" optional screw but think should have !!!! This is the option where have to drill a new hole thru the door, to have another attachment point between the lock front and back (of door) assembly. This should "strengthen" the assembly and maybe assuage my fears. 3. Functionality: All the functionality seemed to work extremely well and very happy with app. Why did I pick this lock: --------------------------- 1. Quality Company: I picked this lock since was from a reputable company (Philips), had every feature I wanted, and at an excellent price!! 2. Battery Life: Just as import, the claimed battery life was among the best for any non-matter/thread. Think this is huge!! I don't want to change batteries every 3 or 4 months typical of wifi locks. Estimated battery life is 8 months. This is a bluetooth lock (meaning only wireless connection at the lock is bluetooth) which is much less energy hungry than wifi. But - you still can see status/unlock remote due to the included wifi bridge. Since the wifi bridge is plugged into an outlet (near the lock), the power hungry wifi is handled by this bridge (using outlet power), not draining the batteries on the lock!!! Yes, Matter enabled (with thread) will also have excellent battery life but locks where much more expensive and JUST being released when purchasing this lock. 3. All the features I needed: Wanted pin codes that could change remotely, be able to see status of door (included door sensor), lock/unlock door remotely, and easy to get in when local at the lock (fingerprint). Conclusion: ------------ Don't think you can beat for the money!!! Will update this review as get more experience with the lock and install the "top" screw for more rigidity!! Hope helps!!!

Simple, priced well, easy to install; lacking Google or Alexa support
Bottom line: Simple alternative to more expensive locks- especially if you don't need Google Home, Alexa, or Homekit integration. The lack of remote access or the ability to add Who is this for: Ideal for those who either haven't selected a smart home platform/ecosystem to work in or simply don't care to, this lock is mainly for a place you live at, as there aren't many remote access options. You must enroll fingerprints on the lock itself (can't do it in the app) and can only issue one-time PIN codes, not codes with expiration like others (e.g. Lockly). Ease of installation: 5/5 - Excellent Makes you feel like a genius, no matter how (un)technical you are. It just works. Well designed and helpful instructions with quality hardware (e.g. strike plates). Looks: 5/5 - Excellent Looks stylish, minimalistic, and perhaps a little like an angry Cylon when locked. We got the satin nickel and black finish. Versatility: 5/5 - Excellent Want to unlock with a PIN code? Check. How about fingerprints? Yup. How about with a custom PIN for your dogwalker or Uncle Bert? Gotcha covered. How about if it loses power or if you're just old-school? There are two keys for that. Integrations: 0/5 The only major negative of this lock is it does not work with Google Home, Alexa, or Apple Homekit. So you do have to use the Philips app to set it up, but the app is easy to use. The Competition: Another good option is the Lockly Secure Pro, but its setup is a little less intuitive in the app and the overall cost of ownership is higher. It is a very robust solution though, which I recommend for rental homes. Worst: Yale x Nest (which is the worst because it makes you start over repeatedly, and use two different apps to make it work - the Nest app and the Google Home app). Oh, and if you get the bug where it eats batteries in 2 days instead of 3 months, you're just earned an expensive paperweight.

Fantastic lock…easy, easy, easy is the word of the day
This lock is great. I really like it, and I feel secure using it — which is to say that it functions exactly as I had hoped and expected it to. The fingerprint reader reads very quickly and hasn’t rejected my print once yet. It’s built pretty sturdy, and I think it’ll last a while. It was super simple to install and just as easy to set up. It’s also easy to use and seems to be easy on batteries. I’m always hesitant to talk about battery life on something that uses batteries rather than having a battery built in, bc brand and chemical composition will make your mileage vary. But it seems to “sip” on the batteries, if you will. There’s no connectivity of this lock to your smart home, so don’t expect Alexa or Google Home to see it or “make it go”. I love my Alexa and the myriad of things I connect to her (I love IoT), but I really don’t need to verbally tell her to lock or unlock doors. Besides, to me, that’s a security risk — even in locks with the ability to do this and locks with PIN codes — if someone knows your code, they could just say it loud enough from outside for your smart home device to hear, and open right up, which might get you burglarized…or worse. Anyhow, it’s a fantastic lock, and it hasn’t failed me yet. I give it 5/5 stars.

Be careful! inferior/downgraded model is shipped without a door sensor
I have 2 of these which I ordered last year. They come in a blue box as indicated by the listing, and also include a door sensor (small magnet installed on or in the door jamb). The sensor is calibrated during the installation and allows the door lock to detect if the door is open or closed, and locks it automatically. NOT ANYMORE. What is being shipped now is an inferior model which comes in an orange box (not blue) and DOES NOT include the door sensor. The door lock blindly locks the door regardless if it is open or close or while being closed, just after an arbitrary timeout. I only discovered it after the install, and customer service, both Amazon and Phillips did not help. Phillips called me back but I couldn't understand a word and they did not bother to follow up. This listing is misleading and as a cost reduction the door sensor and its software were removed, but the listing was not updated. In the picture is a screen shot from the listing, which promises the door sensor.

Reliable Smart Lock
I recently installed this smart lock on my garage entry door, and the experience has been excellent. The installation process was straightforward and easy. Before this, I had another smart lock installed, but it proved to be unreliable after a very short time. So I decided to return it and replace it with this Philips model. The Philips smart lock has exceeded my expectations in several ways: 1. Ease of Installation: The setup was hassle-free, even for someone not particularly tech-savvy. 2. Remote Access: I can lock and unlock my door anytime using my phone, which is incredibly convenient. 3. Fingerprint Unlock: The fingerprint sensor works accurately every time, adding an extra layer of security. 4. Hidden Key Hole: There's a hidden keyhole for emergencies, providing peace of mind. 5. Auto-Lock Feature: While some users might not prefer the auto-lock feature, it's customizable through the app. You can easily turn it on or off based on your preference. Overall, this Philips smart lock has been a reliable and user-friendly addition to my home. Highly recommended for anyone looking to upgrade their door lock system.

So Far, So GREAT!
I have only had this lock for about a week now, but so far it has been the best smart lock we've had! The previous one we had died quite frequently and I was changing the batteries in it 1-2 times a month...4 AAA batteries a month is insane! So I bought another "high end" brand to replace it and it was just the WORST. So here we are lock #3 and I finally feel some satisfaction! -Installation is EXTREMELY easy and fast! -The battery life seems to be pretty good, but I will update if that changes. -App setup is easy and the app functions well -The lock itself looks sleek and modern -The lock responds pretty fast any way you unlock it I love this lock so far, hoping it holds up to the test of time!! Again, I will update if anything changes!
