Great resource and training course!
I took typing for two years in high school, but that was > 50 years ago, when keyboards didn't exist. It was "just typewriters." My skills, esp. using function and numeric keys, are poor. I got this to practice and learn how to use the keyboard better. It is an excellent introduction to some of the function keys I rarely used. Highly recommend. Although it is a "used" book, it arrived in near-new condition (as described). Quickly shipped and well packed.

Perfect for true touch-typing, no looking at the screen or the keys. No distracting games.
Perfect for learning typing the old-fashioned way - a spiral bound book, with lots of practice in a sensible order. It teaches the home row first, then top row, then bottom row. The other advantage is you are NOT looking at the screen while typing, (I recommend putting a piece of cardboard over the screen while typing so you don't cheat). Then you really memorize the locations of the keys. Both of my homeschooled kids learned with this book around age 11 and they can touch-type perfectly now. Such a useful life skill. I used a $2 plastic brochure holder from the office supply store to hold it upright. We tried all the learn-to-type online programs but they were all too cutesy, or too distracting with their games and pressure to go fast. If you have a child who wants a game for reinforcement I recommend the games on Typing.com. But not the learning lessons. This book is much better.

Excellent way to teach yourself to touch-type
I first got this book out of the library and was impressed with how easy it was to use. I could type a little but not touch-typing. When I stuck to it, my touch-typing improved dramatically. I have never taken typing lessons and being middle-aged, was afraid I'd never be any good at typing, let alone touch-typing. The author teaches you not only typing but about the keyboard, the best way to sit while typing and other useful information. I especially like how you must look at the book to do the lessons, rather than the screen. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn how to touch-type.

Okay
I bought this to look through for a possible use in a classroom. I really did not care for it because it is so much like the other typing books. It does not really go into the computer layout to get them started before they can actually begin the keyboarding. I figured I would stick with what I had and create a small booklet for the basics of the computer.I realize with the different computer programs out there, it would be difficult to cover them all, but I needed something to introduce their word processing program before they could begin typing. I learned this the hard way last year. I assumed the students knew how to open the Word program to begin typing and most of them did not know how the turn the computer on to begin. I explored several books to see if I needed to change books for this year, and this was not for me. I just did not like the layout of the book, but I have been typing for well over 30 years so I just may be old school. It may be great for someone else just not for me.

Nice Product
I just ordered my 8 year olds first laptop. When I seen this book it took me back to the days when I was in school and how they use to teach us in typing class. Needless to say it's helped her typing a lot. She's definitely ahead of the class when it comes to her computer classes thanks to this book!

Great - No nonsense book - Fast
Really a great book for whole family who wants to learn fast typing. Have small lessons and targets. Very good for kids or senior adults who want to learn on schedule. Many schools are introducing laptops at early age. Highly recommend this book. Very satisfied with the results.

A great skill to have.
This is an excellent book for learning touch typing. I took a typing course in high school many years ago so I know how to touch type. I bought this book as a present for my grandchildren so they could learn a valuable skill. So far I haven't received any feedback and am afraid to ask.
