It is so worth it!!! Review: Something for Both of my Boys - Any new cat toy is always a risk. I have a treat ball for my 2 boys and they could not care less about that thing. They love treats and yet if I put them in the ball, meh. So I was hesitant to purchase this. Thankfully, my boys love it! I sprinkle some treats in each section of the maze and let them do their thing. They will return to this thing over and over until they get all the treats. At first, I put most of the treats in the easier sections. Now that they are using it more, I try to put most of the treats in the more difficult areas. They really love it. I can't ask for more than that. They love it so much that I'm going to order a spare to have on hand just in case. The cardboard is sturdy and putting it together was simple. My cats have made no attempt to tear it apart or tip it over. My Maine Coon will sometimes sit on it and it holds up very well. I did step on it once and while it got a little crushed at the corner, it functions just fine and the cats don't care. I can imagine that if I had stepped on it just right, I would probably want to replace it. One of my cats always starts at the easy end of the maze while the other one is determined to get the treats from the more challenging areas. So it is good for both of their personalities. One always takes the path of least resistance and the other prefers a challenge. I love watching them both exercising their brains trying to figure this out. It is really fun watching them move from opening to opening trying to figure out how to get those treats out of the maze and into their mouths. I thought this would be either too easy for the cats and they would have the treats out right away, or too difficult and they would get frustrated and not go near it, but it is just right. If it gets too easy, I can switch it over to the most challenging level and let them work on that. I will say that I used to have a cat that didn't care for treats at all. Also, if a 16+ pound cat sits or lays on this, will it hold up?** A: This treat maze would work with any shape treat, dry food, etc. The cat needs to push or pull pieces out through the various openings. So the only requisite for what you put into this toy is that the cat WANTS it!!! This toy will definitely take a 16 pound cat sitting on it. There are cardboard baffles inside the toy that also act as supports for the top. Our 13# kitty is pretty aggressive with this toy and we've had it for months with no problem. I highly recommend it! **Q: is this cardboard?** A: Yes it's cardboard, but very sturdy. I've had one for nearly a year now and bring it out twice to three times a week* for three cats playtime. It's got some stains from the oilier treats, but that doesn't matter structurally. They love it and it doesn't have any dents, bends or breaks in it yet.*Cats are like small children in that if you put something away they next time you bring it out it's "like new" - to them. :-) **Q: One of my two cats likes to bite and chew paper and cardboard. Will this toy last with him?** A: Well that depends on how much your cat likes to chew on cardboard. We have 5 and our young male loves exercising his teeth on card board during his growth spurts. He had chewed on this puzzle box and left teeth marks...but he hasn't torn it up. Now we let them play with it for a week and then put it away for a few weeks so they don't get bored with it. So I'd say as long as you have plenty of other stuff for them to chew on (we've even gone as far as making ours a roll of cardboard sticks) and put this puzzle box away when you see them chewing on it, it should be safe. Just so you know the puzzle box it's super thick cardboard - it's thin and rigid, it's not super flimsy. I hope this helps. **Q: How does it work with two cats who get along with each other or should I get two of them?** A: I actually have 3 cats who get along well with each other and 2 are kittens, 1 is 10 years old. They play together perfectly, and also sometimes alone. It has worked out well and is fun to watch them trying to get the treats out. In short, I think 1 would be fine.
