Swimming is BETTER. Period.
These are a product that I'm shocked (no pun intended) at how much they have changed the game for swimming (and other activities). For background, I'm no expert swimmer, but am an Ironman triathlete (completed 4 full length). These have changed my entire outlook on training. Fairly easy to setup. Charge, familiarize yourself with the controls, and get used to the feeling on headphones not in your ear. Swimming: Absolute game changer. Make sure you change the setting to MP3 setting, bluetooth doesn't work underwater. You can download the app and connect to your phone, but I would recommend knowing the button controls. Once you dial in the swim settings, side load MP3s, get into a comfortable position, it's absolute magic. Some of the reviews mention can't hear out of water - settings must be off, bluetooth must be on, something is wrong. AGAIN - MP3 mode, swim EQ mode, and your are golden. I have swam 6000 meters over the last 2 weeks, and listening to music flawlessly. Even between sets. Freestyle, other strokes, pool, open water. Barely tell they are on, no discomfort with goggles, cap, etc. Running/Cycling: -Again, make sure mode is back out of swim EQ mode, and the sound quality is better. Hitting 30MPH on the bike you will experience some wind noise, but still better then one headphone (I previously used one right ear air pod or one wired apple headphone as the AirPods would come lose or die on long rides). These eliminate all that stress with better sound quality 90% of the time. -Make sure back into bluetooth mode and you can stream anything from phone. Some quirks that were basically only annoying: -The controls aren't the same for each Shokz model. When searching online be careful to learn the controls for FF, Rew, skip song, etc. Some trial and error and using I'm now familiar. -The charge and data transfer cable is proprietary. I got some Shokz 710 to usb adapters so I'm not out of luck when traveling or can't find the proprietary cable. -Sideloading MP3s for non-bluetooth mode is kind of annoying, which I knew it was going to be but it's not entirely clear. We are heavy spotify and Amazon music users. We have thousands of songs in our libraries, but those songs can only be downloaded if the song or album is actually purchased (OUTSIDE OF THE MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION). Turns out only 300 of our 10K songs were purchased over the years, which highly limits what can be downloaded and trasnferred for MP3/Swim mode. There are some hacky ways to convert podcasts to MP3s, etc. but it's not super easy. -The battery life isn't quite as great as the Open Pro 2 that my wife as , but it's sufficient. The charger on those is USB C as well, which I'm sure the next generation of will convert to. If you are on the fence, figure out the purchasing of MP3s and these work well for swimming. If you won't use for swimming get the non open swim version with USB C charging. If you ever will swim with these or will do any training in the pool - ABSOLUTE GAME CHANGER.

These are amazing
I just started getting back into swimming. I had the Swimp3 players 15 years ago that made swimming a lot less dull and was looking for whatever the new version of that was. These are better for a host of reasons. First, they stay in place pretty darn well. My old mp3 player was bulky on the side of my goggle strap, and if I did butterfly, they would fling around and I had to stop to fix them. These stay put just fine, even when I jumped in the water from the pool deck. It does feel a little weird to put these on and then to put my cap over the ear part (I can't have my ears out of my cap entirely or it would pop off and/or drive me nuts), but I sort of got used to it. There were some times that I had to tug down the sides of my cap over my ears because it was riding up, but that may have been unrelated to this device. The back of the neck portion stayed outside my cap the whole time and if it moved around at all, I didn't notice it. These are also plenty loud. I had to click them down a few notches from the max volume to be a comfy listening volume. I didn't use the earplugs, but had no problem hearing them clearly, whether or not my head was underwater. With my old mp3 player, I could hear them somewhat even when they weren't on my face. I could tell that some other people could hear it somewhat, too, since I got some funny looks when my music started playing. But with these Shokz, it didn't seem like anyone else could hear them. It is annoying to me that there isn't more playlist control (song order, etc.) and that there's no way to transmit tunes via bluetooth from my phone directly to the device. But I will say that the magnetic USB charging/data cable is pretty slick. It clicked on so easily that I didn't even think it was really plugged in until I saw the light and it auto-opened the file window on my computer. One thing I was really happy about is that it can play M4A files, no problem. I was worried that I'd have to do some lame mp3 conversion to get them to play, but I didn't. I just made a playlist in iTunes (all individually purchased music) and copy/pasted into the file window for the Shokz. Room for improvement in future models? Sure. But for now, this is a HUGE upgrade over my 15-year-old version and it works well enough for me to be very happy with them.

For Swimmers. Look no further, these waterproof headphones are AMAZING
Do not even look at any other similar products, these waterproof headphones are a game-changer. If you are a competitive serious swimmer like me with over 2 decades of experience, buy these immediately!!! I was highly skeptical about this product, but trust me, you will not regret it. I put these headphones through a strenuous 150 lap swim workout at the swimming pool, with flip turns etc. Above water, they sound like crap but the real magic happens when you are underwater. I tested wearing it in different ways. The instructions mention that you should wear the earplugs and have the buds pieces sit right in front of your ear openings for optimal sound quality. That method does not work (at least for me). The reason it doesn't work (for me) is because I noticed that the vibrations from the buds and ear plugs caused immediate pain in my ear canals so I put the earbuds right on top of my ear openings without the earplugs and the water waves ensured that noise cancellation occurs naturally. As a result, the earbuds produced crispier, cleaner sounds and a strong bass. It also fell off the minute I started my 1st lap but that can be fixed, just make sure to put your goggle's straps right on top of the headphone's wire part or if you wear a cap, just pull the cap on top of the buds and they'll stay in place. Fortunately I got the bright orange ones so I was able to quickly find it underwater. Make sure that you switch to MP3 mode so you won't need a smartwatch / phone to play songs. You can download songs instead and manually move them over to the headphones via USB connection. I put about 30 songs into the headphones as a test. After a while, the headphones announced "Data Error". This is not an issue with the headphones but rather half my playlist files were corrupted. Because of these corrupted files, the headphones didn't recognize and couldn't play those songs. Just ensure that your downloaded songs are not corrupted and you will be fine. When you're done with your workout, rinse these in fresh water otherwise the chlorine will fry these headphones. All in all, I wish I could give this product 10 stars. They are comfortable, easy to transport, super loud, and lightweight. What I'm really curious about is how these will hold up in salt water, particularly against ocean waves. I will be testing this theory in the next few weeks.

Good swimming headphones
I read all of the reviews, including the 1-star reviews. I was a little nervous purchasing these headphones. I bought them for when I was swimming laps in an indoor pool, since doing it in silence was very boring. I personally love these headphones. The Bluetooth will not work when the headphones are underwater, but I am married to a tech nerd, and he informed me I can legally use a website to make YouTube videos into an MP3 file by copying the URL over and downloading them to my PC then adding them to the headphones. I use these while swimming in MP3 mode the Bluetooth works great outside of the water, and I am very aware of my surroundings even when playing music at full volume. When wearing a swim cap. I find the headphones comfortable, I just leave my ears out because I don't want my hair to get wet, but this is not an issue because Shockz has provides ear plugs, and I wear them when I swim. I like the fit of these headphones, and there is a little extra room behind my head, which is good for me because it makes them extremely easy to wear. The headphones feel very durable and good quality, along with the sound quality being don't expect them to be noise canceling, but the sound quality is good for what they are.

Good but imperfect solution
The sound quality is surprisingly good. The "standard mode" sounds better in the open air but overly bassy underwater. "Swim mode", no surprise, sounds a lot better under the water, but is a bit thin in the air. Sound quality not as good as premium headphones or earbuds, but much better than cheap ones. Unlike either one, these are waterproof and don't cover your ears, leaving you free to hear important ambient sounds like "watch out" or "help me!". You have to use "Mp3 mode" when swimming, as bluetooth doesn't travel well through water, so it will be necessary to transfer some old-fashioned mp3 or mp4 files onto the headset. Playback order seems to be alphanumeric, so rename the files if you want a particular play order. If you download the Shokz app, you can apparently set the playlist to shuffle. Save the serial number from the box, or be prepared to try and read incredibly tiny numbers off the headset itself (really super tiny). You will need this number in order to register and use the Shokz app. Bluetooth mode could be nice for open-air situations where you want to keep your ears available for important sounds like screeching brakes, like jogging or riding a bike. The main downside, when swimming, is air bubbles. I assume this issue would happen with any other swim audio system, and is not particular to Shokz. I breath out whenever my face is in the water, which means a lot of bubbles are passing my ears on the way to the surface. Normally, I don't really notice them, but they seem really loud when I am listening to music. For this reason, I wouldn't recommend the Shokz for listening to very quiet, low key music while swimming (say, Nora Jones, for example). On the other hand, the Ramones, or maybe the 1812 0verture can withstand a few noisy bubbles. The provided ear plugs would probably help with this, but I don't mind enough to stick them in my ears and then search for them in the pool, when they eventually fall out. Besides, I like the Ramones.

Love the Coral/Salmon they call "red" & this MP3 capable Set w/ 2 cases & Plugs for Nose and Ears
I rarely write product reviews but decided to post that I love these Shokz OpenSwim Pro, even though I really wish they made them in the mini band size... 1. I bought these for the MP3 capabilities and I'm so glad I did!! It's been awesome to have my own music anywhere I go without needing my phone in hand! All buttons and functions are working perfectly. 2. I love the EQ setting on these especially for water. I also love that these come with a small case that includes and holds a nose plug & earplugs to make using the music in water sound even better. The black travel case it comes works well to keep it all together anywhere you go. 3. The regular size neck band on these is okay because I tilt the band closer to my neck. But as a female with a regular dimension neck size, the mini band is definitely better. I have the Shokz OpenRun Mini and that band is a better fit. So I wish they also made the OpenSwim in mini band. But since Shokz is the only company making mini bone conducting headphones, (and children's sizes of other brands don't come with IP68 water protection), I didn't see the point of getting another brand when those neck bands on all the others are just as long or bigger-thicker. The Shokz OpenSwim Pro has all the other top details I wanted that covered everthing important to me: mp3 type + multiple other file type capabilities, 32 gig memory for audio files. You can load separate music artists mp3 files to listen by each album separately, or load all the songs stacked with all the artists all together. Whichever (or both) you prefer. You can skip forward or go back, shuffle music, or whatever order you loaded them mixed together. The buttons are very easy to use for moving from bluetooth to mp3 and other controls. The water rating is perfect at IP68 and can also be paired with two devices at the same time which is really helpful for various scenarios. I also like the feel of the buttons and location on these compared to one other brand I'd narrowed my choice down to. The other brand has a small wheel function that the reviews said was difficult to use when your hands and/or the headphones are wet. So ultimately, I chose these Shokz OpenSwim Pro. Happy with the choice! 4. As others have said, I'm not sure why Shokz is trying to call these red color because they're definitely more like salmon/coral color. I love red but also love coral. I decided to go ahead and get these either way because others' pictures looked like a coral/salmon color to me, and they are. (Not strong orange nor bright/blaring orange.) So I really do like these bc they're soft enough color in the orange family. I've included 2 pictures in case it helps others who are on the fence either way: 1 pic just the headphones & 1 pic of the headphones next to my red shirt. Obviously some lighting can make a difference, but the pics are pretty close to actual color. It's hard to see in the pics online, but the band is a nice navy blue color that compliments the salmon/coral color nicely.

Burned twice the calories!
I’m in love. It’s been tough to start exercising again but I did start swimming about a month ago. The gym lap pool has no music. As a neurologic music therapist and neuropsychologist, I know the power of entrainment and how upbeat music can boost your workout. With these, I downloaded the #1 Workout Playlist here on Amazon Music, loaded them onto the headphones via my computer (super easy), and I feel like I’m partying in the pool! I almost doubled the calories burned in the same amount of time. The sound is even better underwater. You can’t put anything from Apple Music on them unless you’re listening with Bluetooth, which isn’t possible underwater, but totally doable for workouts outside of the water. They fit great, they didn’t budge during the swim and I had no issues. The quality and value are definitely there. It has totally changed my swim routine and I look forward to it being more fun now!

Well Made Great Quality
This is my third pair of bone conduction headphones. The first to were other brands for which I paid about $80 each. Both were good but eventually suffered technical problems and would no longer work so I decided to invest in this brand. So far, they work very well. Uploading music was as easy as the other brands I had purchased and the memory seems to be very good. I have over 200 songs stored so far. The music quality is very good, the battery life has not been a problem as I charge them after every swim. My one complaint is the buttons. To power on you press one button and to put it into MP3 mode, you have to press two small buttons simultaneously. In addition, to change the volume while wearing them, you have to press buttons that are very small and close together. They could have done a better job organizing the control buttons to make them easier to press by feel since you can’t see them while wearing them. Otherwise, they seem to be very good headphones.
