Either the RAT-1 or the RAT-2 by Ontario Knife Company may very well be, dollar for dollar, one of the best pocket knife deals going. What they lack in 'fancy' they more than make up for in sturdy, easy to deploy, and just plain comfortable to hold on to. I have gotten into the habit of adding a SnaggleTooth LLC quick deploy opener 'tooth' for instant one handed opening, yet staying legal where I live. This is quicker than any automatic or butterfly knife, and it won't upset the locals like those other types do. I also add lanyards or rings to aid in a rapid draw from the pocket. All things considered, this pattern, in either size, is tough to beat and that at a price if one grows feet and walks off, you won't break the bank replacing it.

Some of the best value for the money knives you will ever get. Razor sharp out of the box. Smooth action. Multiple carry options. The only gripe I have isnthe od green does not match my other rat1 knife. But who cares

- original price when it was first our was closer to 70-80$ range. To grab it at 25-35 is amazing. - direct out of box . Looks great. Handle is comfortable, I have wider thicker hands. Not shaving sharp but with some extra sharpening it can be. Cut effortlessly. - medium weight I love a knife with a little heft. Gives great wielding power. I split wood, chopped away at smaller logs branches, sliced meat, veggies. I very aggressively used this knife an entire weekend. It did big knife jobs. I'll re sharpen it but the steel is tough as hell and really solid. Perfect grip for detailed work as well just amazing knife

I like it. It opens very smooth. High quality for the price point. No wiggle in the blade. Blade centered when closed. Feels pretty good in the hand. Little weighty but not too bad. Grip could be grippier. Clip could be a litter closer to the end so it would carry deeper. Comes pretty sharp. I like that the clip can be moved to 4 positions. Not a big fan of liner lock. Prefer axis style lock. Best thing about this knife is how smooth it opens.

Excellent value for the money. It is larger than I thought it would be but still a good size for edc in my opinion. The only thing I would change is the protrusion of the liner lock. It is a bit too recessed into the handle for my taste but overall this is a five star knife due to the cost and quality. AUS8 holds the blade very well.

I should have bought one of these long ago when I first learned about them. Might purchase one in a more premium steel in the future as I like the feel of the knife. Blade came mostly sharp, but could stand some finish sharpening and honing. Finished sharpening just to remove the naked eye visible tool marks from the factory edge.

Knife is razor sharp, locks up tight and is good looking as well. I read reviews saying it is to big for an EDC knife but I disagree. I think that is a matter of personal preference. For it's price point I don't think you will find a better deal.

nice knife but the black coating wears off really fast. if i had to buy another i would chose stainless steel finish instead of the black coating

I buy a lot of knives. This one is quality. A true classic. Nice smooth one hand opening action. Smooth to close. Comfortable grip and blade comes sharp and seats centered when closed. Happy with it!

Ich hatte erst Angst, daß man ein China-Plagiat bekommt. Doch es ist ein Original Ontario Knife. Super verarbeitet und öffnet fast wie ein Automatikmesser. Rasiermesser scharf abgezogen und liegt wie Butter in der Hand. Die Form vom RAT hat mir schon immer gefallen. Ein toller Folder unter 100,- Euro. Sensationell. Klare Kaufempfehlung.
