SONOFF Matter Smart Light Switch, 2.4GHz WiFi Mechanical Switch, Neutral Wire Required, Compatible with Alexa & Google Home

Easy 5 minute installation, replacing a ‘dumb’ immersion heater timer (which was actually being used to control outside lighting), as I was fed up of constantly changing the program to account for the lengthening and shortening of the days. I’ve now set up a routine in Alexa to turn on 15mins before sunset and turn off at midnight. Easy to swap wiring over. Fits standard size single pattress box. Clean aesthetic look and light touch button rather than a rocker/cam style mechanism. Quickly paired with WiFi and the app and also quickly detected by Alexa app. Will be purchasing more for applications where a smart socket or bulb aren’t suitable.

Work well once installed, I have 5 now in the house, mix of 1 and 2 gang. They pair easily via the ewelink app and connection is stable in it, but they unpair from my smarthub whenever they lose power (for example when switching off the power to install another switch or change a ceiling rose) and repairing the link requires unpairing them in both the ewelink and hub apps before they will connect again, at least in my set up. This is tedious and getting more so the more devices I add. Also, havent found a way to turn them into a toggle for devices outside of ewelink, making it frustrating to pair re-pair and repair pairings every time I change a switch or light rose to be able to maintain flows with my hub. Kind of defeats the point of a smart switch in my eyes if you can't use that functionality. Finally, the rear switch takes up a huge amount of room, no more so than competing switchs but worth noting if you're just starting out - have some 2 and 3 way Wagos ready to replace any old style blocks the fitters put in there previously, and don't expect to fit more than two of them in a normal backbox.

Switch seems ok for the build quality and the fact you can add it to Alexa through matter and don't need yet another app. Couldn't test it though as I don't have a neutral wire. This should be clearer in the product description and details. Will be returning.

I am very impressed with this switch. It is very well built and feels like high quality product, not cheap plastic. The connection was super easy and fast. Important note: You must have the Neutral wire (the blue cable) in your wall box. If you do not have this blue wire, the switch will not work for you. Please check this before buying! Highly recommend.

These still only support 2.4Ghz but I needed a newer version, now I have a new router that wouldn't work with my old sonoff switch. The touch button is a nice feature and is a vast improvement over the previous model I had fitted. You can't beat sonoff for easy pairing to the app and Alexa control.

Why Sonoff did you lock the bootloader? I wanted to install Tasmota on this like I have on all my other Sonoff devices. Now I will have to replace the ESP32 because I didn't get round to flashing it before the returns period was up. I normally recommend Sonoff as great for tinkerers but now I'm an UNHAPPY CUSTOMER !!!

The message from Alexa sometimes does not reach the light switch, but as that is when asking to switch the light switch off we are normally going past the switch anyway. It always seems to switch on via Alexa it is only when using it to turn off.

Interrupteur de la marque Sonoff de bonne qualité. Il s'appaîre facilement. Attention par contre il ne fonctionne que sous Matter, alors que des produits concurrentiels sont également compatible Zigbee, cet interrupteur ne fonctionne que sous Matter uniquement, c'est dommage. Sinon c'est un très bon produit qui fonctionne très bien.

Der Sonoff M5 Matter ist für mich eine klare Empfehlung. Er passt ins Standardmaß und lässt sich schnell und unkompliziert installieren. Im täglichen Einsatz überzeugt er durch eine sehr hohe Zuverlässigkeit. Auch die Integration in Apple Home und Home Assistant funktioniert problemlos. Insgesamt ein wirklich guter und zuverlässiger Lichtschalter.

Der Schalter lässt sich sehr leicht installieren. Er funktioniert einwandfrei mit Apple Home. Der Austausch gegen den alten Schalter war einfach. Ich bin sehr zufrieden. Ich habe das Teil zum 2.Mal gekauft. Wie zuvor beschrieben ist die Installation an Einfachheit nicht zu überbieten im Gegensatz zu einigen anderen „Matter-kompatiblen“ Produkten.“

Great product but it doesn't work with the standard wiring in the UAE (loop-in feed-through circuit, no neutral). Also, I've ordered 2 units, but for some reason got 2 from different generations (they should work the same but some units could be older).
