It works when other RJ12 connectors don't
Don't you love it when a manufacturer appears to use what is an industry standard but makes it oh-so-slightly different? Yep. I put my Yaesu FTM-100 under the passenger seat of the car. Since the microphone is connected to the radio body and NOT the remote head (like other Yaesu radios - but that's a complaint for a different day), I needed an extension. No problem. It's just an RJ-12 connector. So I connect up an RJ-12 cable and a 2-way RJ-12 connector to make an extender. It works. Sort of. If you can manage to hold the cables into the RJ-12 connector, it works fine. Set it down and the microphone loses connection. The microphone latch to hold it into the connector is just a bit short so it doesn't hold firmly. I bite the bullet and buy this cable. It cost 3 times just using standard RJ-12 parts costs. It does, however, hold the mic cable firmly in place and no more loose connection. So yeah - 5 stars because it does the job. 3 stars because it costs more than it should. 1 star for not using standard RJ-12 tolerances so any RJ-12 cable and connector would work.

Stop reading reviews already and add it to your cart
This was the perfect solution for my mobile radio setup. Yaesu FT7800R with a remote separation allows for a super convenient location of display unit up on the headliner out of the way BUT loses convenience because the transceiver mic plugs into the display and gets in the way/dangles cords in your way etc. This 6 pin separation cable fixes that by RE-ROUTING the mic input back down to a more suitable location. For me it’s under the driver seat. Works great. Seems quality. No interference/feedback from connections. If you’re reading reviews for this clearly you need one so trust me and just get it it’s cheap enough anyway.

It works on my Yaesu FTM 300
It works on my Yaesu FTM 300, which was not on the list. It plugs securely into the radio body, and the mic plugs securely into the cable. I like the female end on the cable for the mic - no need for a double-female adapter. I've used it for about a month, so long-term use is yet to be seen. But after the initial connection, it just sits there. So it's not likely to wear out. We'll see if the connections get intermittent. UPDATE: Well over a year now, and still good 🙂

Doesn't work with FTM-300DR
The cable was fine, but it definitely will not work with a FTM-300DR. The company quickly gave me a refund though.

Works just like it should
I purchased this product to support the installation of a new HAM radio in my Jeep. I ended up installing the radio behind the passenger seat on the fender wall. Unfortunately, that made the mic connection to far away to be of any use. I was able to route this extension cable from the radio, under the trim by the passenger seat, beneath the carpet and around left side of the passenger seat to the front of the seat frame. From there, I could very easily connect the microphone w/o worrying about anything getting stretched or pulled out of place. Works exactly as it should!

It works just fine.
My FTM-300DR was in a tight place and this extension cord allowed me to use my mic. Unfortunately, the FTM-300 remote head does not have its own mic port unlike the FTM-500 which does have one on the remote head). This cable makes it possible to locate the 300's head farther away from the main body and thus have more mic cord freedom! :-)

Worked great for a few months until yesterday
This worked well for a few months with my FTM-400. On a trip yesterday my contacts were telling me my mic volume was fluctuating wildly. Upon inspection, discovered that the hand mic male end was twisting slightly in the female end of this cable causing the pins to misalign slightly. Managed to limp it through the rest of the day with frequent reseating of the mic cable but will be switching out to another extension cable.
