Product Description Mark Valley, Sienna Miller. A New York narcotics cop blows a big drug bust and heads across the Atlantic in search of personal redemption. When he delivers a dose of hard-line American tactics to Scotland Yard, the refined law enforcement gents welcome him to a permanent spot on the force. Includes 13 episodes on 4 DVDs. 2003-04/color/9 hrs., 37 min/NR/fullscreen. desertcart.com Add Keen Eddie to the long list of unique TV shows that never clicked with a mainstream following--but which found a small but devoted fan base, for whom this DVD set is a gift from above. New York cop Eddie Arlette (pugnaciously good-looking Mark Valley) fumbles a major drug bust and gets sent to London to mop up the mess he's made. But Eddie's New York attitude proves a successful addition to Scotland Yard, so ambitious Superintendent Johnson (Colin Salmon, Prime Suspect 2) decides to keep Eddie on the team--which suits his new partner, neurotic swinger Monty Pippin (Julian Rhind-Tutt, BBC miniseries Reckless) but infuriates Eddie's accidental flatmate, the luscious, tempestuous, and frequently scantily clad Fiona (Sienna Miller). Individual shows follow self-contained investigations (like a stolen race-horse, a casino robbed by guys in Duran Duran masks, a school hazing gone too far, or a kidnapping by a French mob boss with an astrology obsession), while the rising sparks between Eddie and Fiona can be charted across the 13 episodes (which are presented in order of airdate, not the sequence in which they were created; the ideal sequence can be learned from various fan Web sites). Keen Eddie's quirky, syncopated rhythm can sometimes feel a little forced and the visual flash and rapid-fire editing owe a lot to the movies of Guy Ritchie (Snatch), but the result was nonetheless a distinctive show that deserved more of an audience than it got. This boxed set should give Keen Eddie a second chance. --Bret Fetzer Review: A Keen Series - This was an inspired cop/action/comedy show that premiered on the Fox network in the summer of '03. It quickly became a critical favourite, but it was cancelled due to low ratings and the stupid Fox network shuffling it around and not giving it enough exposure. Mark Valley plays Det. Eddie Arlette, a New York City cop sent to London, England to correct a botched drug bust. The flat he was supposed to be renting is still occupied by the owner's daughter, Fiona Bickerton. Fiona adamantly refuses to let Eddie stay and pretty much dislikes him from the first moment. However, she must let Eddie stay because her mother -- the owner -- is still under the impression that Fiona is at university and Fiona has failed to mention that she has dropped out of school. As soon as Eddie's case is solved, he is offered a position within Scotland Yard. Eddie's new associates include: * Inspector Monty Pippin, his sex-obsessed but stylish and well-dressed partner. * Superintendant Nathaniel Johnson, his humourless superior who is "not sure he likes Eddie but he likes results." * Carol Ross, Nathaniel's secretary who appears quiet but wields a secret sexy power over Eddie. * And of course, Pete. Eddie's tough dog who enjoys biting Eddie's hands, menacing strangers, and shagging Fiona's cat. This show was repeated on Bravo earlier this year, along with 6 episodes that had been previously unaired on Fox. All episodes should be available on this DVD set. The show contains a lively and diverse soundtrack of techno, rock, rap, etc. Flashbacks, flights of fancy, fast-paced camera movements are part of what makes this show interesting and entertaining. Eddie's interactions with Fiona, Pippin and especially Carol are what makes this show enjoyable. Fiona resents having him live with her; they both hate each other, but you can tell they've secretly become fond of each other. Pippin is an unrepentent skirt-chaser; Eddie's concern for how his lifestyle might get him into trouble is sweet, but the two respect each other. And Carol... No, I won't spoil anything; you have to watch it. ;-) I strongly recommend this show. Review: Keen Eddie- Well worth watching again and again - We were lucky enough to catch Keen Eddie when it first debuted on television. Incredibly clever and funny, with great cinematography, we were also drawn to the characters. "Eddie", the star, is a very cool NY detective banished to England to try and pick up the pieces after a drug bust went really wrong. Conflicts and differences between American and English styles, attitudes and language add to the humor in a very witty way. He's definitely sexy and easy to relate to- even when you are as cool as Eddie, things occasionally go wrong. Yet, when the chips are down, his attitude bounces right back, with a "Hi. I'm Eddie. How do you like me so far?" Pretty darn well! Despite positive reviews..."A rich blend of comedy, action and off-center characters"; "fresh and engaging"; "Keen Eddie eschews stern, solemn drama for breezy dialogue and eccentricities" and "The ultra modern look combined with traditional British images results in a unique and refreshing style"...the series was canceled during its first season. We were very happy they released that first season on DVD (thirteen episodes), six of which were never aired on network television. For those who missed it the first time around, or regretted its demise, here's your chance to enjoy a full season. The shows are varied, the supporting cast wonderful, it's definitely a winner.

Fantastic Show...Axed by FOX
Here we are yet again, watching a great show cut short by TV execs with itchy trigger fingers. It's a shame when there are shows with great characters and great stories that aren't allowed to come to fruition. Keen Eddie was a witty, entertaining, British infused cop show. Part of what made it unique and cool was the fact that it was set in England. That's something you never see on American network television, which is why I turn to BBC America regularly. Keen Eddie is full of colorful and interesting characters played by perfectly cast actors. Mark Valley as the title character is completely comfortable in the role and has great chemistry with the entire supporting cast. And I will always be indebted to this show for introducing me to the lovely and talented Sienna Miller (whom I'm now obsessed with) playing Eddie's roommate, Fiona. The budding love story between Eddie and Fiona was the glue the held the entire episode run together. Which is why I am irate that this got cancelled before that story could be properly fleshed out (and why this set only gets 4 stars...it's incomplete). Keen Eddie was a show that had everything, a great blend of drama and comedy. Thankfully we have this DVD set to remind us of why we hate FOX.

Fantastic cop serial that got cancelled way too early.
I'm not normally one for procedural cop shows, but Keen Eddie will always hold a special place in my heart. Fox canceled it way too early, but such is the fate of a show that premieres in the summer and then jumps television time slots... I honestly don't think the premise was all too realistic, but that does kind of add to the charm as we get a New York detective fumbling his way around London and British culture. They did a good job developing a cast of supporting characters with a wide variety of personalities and gimmicky traits that still stayed fresh throughout each episode. Add in well choreographed and properly soundtracked action scenes and you've got a rather engaging, humorous run of a show. If you want a decent, old fashioned "buddy cop" show, give this one a try.

A découvrir absolument !

unfortunately only a one-season show. Sienna Miller is smokin' hot and Mark Valley is stone-cold excellent. the episodes are very entertaining

Neither of my headline issues are the fault of anyone in particular, and I expected them both. The show is too old to be widescreen, and it's only slightly annoying to watch like that. The episodes have been added to the discs in the order they aired on TV, which is not their production order. On TV, they aired 1 > 2 > 9 > 12 > 6 > 10 > 7 > 11 > 8 > 4 > 5 > 3 > 13 so to watch them on the DVDs without continuity errors, you have to know the correct order. You can find it on Wikipedia. But even then it's annoying to watch two episodes from disc 1, then one episode from disc 3, then one from disc 4, then one from disc 2, etc. Also, the discs didn't look great on the bottom. They looked wet. Not sure how else to describe it. Like water had spilled across them and dried. Still work fine, so that's not a big deal as of yet. All that aside, it's still the show I remember, and it's enjoyable.
