Sweet natural sound - Best value for money
I may not be a sound engineer but trust me I know how I like my music to sound. I have multiple sound systems ranging from the likes of high end discrete Onkyo and Yamaha Aventage Dolby Atmos Home Theatre systems to Bose LifeStyle to Vacuum Tube Stereo Setups paired with some of the best speakers like Focal Chorus 836W, Paradigm, KEF, JBL, Definite Technology , Jamo, Pure Acoustics and Bose 901 that one can lay his hands on. All these setups have been solution-ed with the sole objective of hearing the best possible sound for the occasion. Of course these setups cannot be compared to a pair of measly computer speakers in this case the Edifier R1700BT Bluetooth Bookshelf Speakers - Active Near-field Studio Monitors - Powered Speakers 2.0 Given the time that one spends on the machine of choice, one cannot be wrapped in some BT or wired headphones all the time. Hence the use case for a suitable set of sound drivers to fill up the time in the hot seat - be it the office or home - laptop, desktop or your a DIY beast of a gaming rig sitting pretty with all those synced up RGBs. I am sure that there would be a whole lot of fancy names one could pick from and I too had my fair share trying out Bose, Harman Kardon, Logitech, Creative, etc. desktop decoratives besides BT jumping from Google Home Max, Apple Home Pod and Amazon Echo Plus. However, my frustration kept growing as I was not able to get that right fit for my daily driver rig. A few days back I came across reviews of various Edifier options ranging from the fancy looking Luna E e235 to some others around 5K. To cut a long story short, after reading up some reviews, comparisons and YouTube content, I settled for the Edifier R1700BT Bluetooth Bookshelf Speakers - Active Near-field Studio Monitors - Powered Speakers 2.0 Something just told me to go for them and they did check off all my boxes for being compact, having BT and 3.5 mm / RCA inputs and sufficiently powered for a 2.0 setup. Basic necessities for survival :-) The order was delivered in less than 12 hours. Many thanks to Amazon for that. :-) :-) :-) Unboxing (nicely seal packed in the original factory box) done, I was able to breeze through the setup of the simplistic contraption in 5 minutes flat. Powered on and hit the play button on my favourite VLC playlist. The 1700BT redeemed itself with flying colors as I sequenced from one track to the next. First of all I was really satisfied with the sound that filled the room - rich and sweet across the range and different genres. Some may say that the bass is a little boomy - I may agree a tad but it certainly wasn't muddy or cloudy. Mids and highs were great.... crystal clear and the best part was the realistic sound stage created. Enabling the equalizer and fine tuning the frequency controls produced just the sound I was looking for. Crank up the volume and the benign and laid back looking boxes (maybe due to their practical 10 degree backward slope design) start flexing their muscles without breaking a sweat. Boy! they do really get loud - not that ear shattering cracked up sound but a powerful harmonious wave punching it's way across the house like a heavyweight boxer. The remote is a huge boon - tiny but extremely functional. The build quality of the speakers is classy and subtle. I strongly recommend this set of speakers for your desktop, laptop or that gaming beast with a very definitive statement - Sweet natural sound - Best value for money that delivers for any occasion that your computing session may challenge it with.

Do yourself a favor, quit looking & just buy R1700BT, you won't believe anything looking this good & could sound so wonderful!!
Delivery: ------------ Considering Amazon's reputation, delivery was slow as I guess Amazon is catering only to its Prime member these days (disappointing). I got the text saying "Delivery guy is out for delivery" early morning at 7:30 but nobody showed up until noon. The mobile number provided was continuously switched off. After several failed attempts I had to call Amazon customer car thrice before they could help and during my third call, they provided another number. I called and asked the delivery guy his location, which was just 3 km from my place. He said the van was getting loaded and would take further 2 hours. I decided to visit and collect it myself as I had to leave for work and there would be no one to collect the order in my absence as I live alone. I visited the delivery guy shop and he took out my speakers from the bottom of the other stuff loaded in the van. I asked them to open the Amazon box right there & checked if the Edifier box was squeezed or raptured, everything seemed fine so I collected and left. Seller Feedback, Product Packaging & Unboxing: (Giving 4 stars for my love for the product, would have given 3 to the seller if I had the option) ----------------------- Seller was pretty slow in responding and increased the price a few days back. He didn't respond to my messages asking him if he can reverse the increase but no reply ever received. Tried to approach through Amazon but they said we have no control over prices. I didn't ask them if they had control or not, it was a normal question asking if they can ask the seller to respond to my messages. Anyways, the Amazon box packaging was okay and the Edifier box packaging was good, not great considering they were speakers. I generally love Amazon's packaging but it was a bit disappointing here. The first thing which you will notice is the build quality which is incredible considering the price (overly priced in India though). The attention to detail is excellent. I just love the colour combination which looks so good. They do weigh decently, not at all light, but won't call heavy either (many do in their reviews). I do not like the grille as it's not see through and completely blocks the beautifully designed twitter and woofer, so decided to use these speakers without the grille. The tiny remote control works flawlessly. Its so small it can easily be lost under your books or other stuff that are always lying around. All the necessary cables required are provided within the box, however, I didn't like the quality of RCAs. They look cheap as if the seller has replaced with local RCA's as I do not expect Edifier to provide such quality cables. The cable which connects left side speaker is very high quality and pretty long. SHOCK: One of the twitter (left one) was squeezed when I opened the box. Other than that I found nothing else in terms of faults. Packaging done by Edifier is pretty decent and no complaints here. The left speaker and the twitter is working fine, but don't know what to do with the squeezed twitter as I don't expect the seller to respond in time and don't wanna return these wonderful studio speakers. Product Review: ---------------------- I rarely leave reviews, mostly feedbacks on delivery and quality but these speakers do deserve feedback and a detailed one! I have been using Yamaha's YST-MS30 (apart from Sony HiFi and Sony pro amplifier years back) for a very long time. Spent a lot of time reading reviews of various speakers and finally asked my friend to try Edifier R1700BT during his visit to China. He loved these speakers so much that he ended up buying for himself and later refused to sell to me. He got a great deal of US$90 (₹6000) which is crazy considering the quality, looks and output. Amazon USA is selling these speakers at US$149.99 (₹10,000) which is still a decent deal (cheapest worldwide). This seller 'e9accessories' on Amazon India was selling at ₹12,000 and later increased to ₹13,300 (US$199), maybe because he got to know that someone is looking for these speakers as I did add these speakers to my cart (thanks Amazon). My long research finally paid off when I got to hear these at my friend's house and finally ordered on 1st May 2018. I have heard many speakers, Yamaha's HS-5, JBL LSR305 and many other class-D amplified speakers but these speakers are mind blowing at this price and looking at the size. They are so small they fit perfectly on my computer table. R1700BT sounds exceptional, the high's, mid's or low's, and the clarity which you get out of these, you can't get it anywhere in this price range. I have a pretty big room, can easily accommodate 2 king size beds, 3 big cupboards, 2-bedside tables, a computer table and still plenty of space to walk around and these speakers get loud enough to fill my room with amazing sound, the frequency response in the lower end dug deep enough even at low volume which is incredible considering the size of the woofer is just 3". They sound undistorted even at maximum volume when connected to a laptop (with extra output). So far I couldn't find any cons worth mentioning here. Outstanding quality and sound, Bluetooth works flawlessly and petty fast for being an older generation (2.0 if I'm correct). Would have preferred Bluetooth 4.0 in these speakers for completely lag free sound and faster connectivity as these are still selling strong all over the world. One can easily find many sound quality comparison videos with HiFi's like JBL LSR305 and many others on YouTube. Must have speakers for all clarity lovers and audiophiles. I'm incredibly impressed and have become Edifier's fan. Do yourself a favour, quit looking and just buy them, you won't believe anything looking this good and small could sound so clear, loud and wonderful. Edifier please provide better after sales services in India! Attached photos: Delivery, Unboxing, Squeezed Twitter and beautiful speakers laying on my desk! This is where my love for Hi-Fi audio starts from
Okay let me begin with how I ended up buying this pair: --------------------------------------- At first, I was planning to purchase some cheap Chinese 5.1 or 2.1 sound bars with huge outputs (like 200watts plus). I already have a sound bar at my hometown(Marq 180watt sound bar). I then explored some forums on hifivision and came to a decision to give these edifier ones a try(Even though they are 66 watts as compared to 200+). --------------------------------------- These 66watts RMS vs 200 RMS Chinese speakers: This is like trading quality with quantity. Sure, the Chinese speakers will give you louder sounds, and might be much better in parties, but trust me once you hear the quality Hi-Fi speakers, You will appreciate how much quality music and nodes you were missing all these time. Parties last for few hours, the loudness matters. But for daily purpose, I would highly suggest to go with these speakers as you can listen for them for very long without any ear-sore. Your ear drums will thank you when you will hear each instrument clearly and separately in the music. PS. These speakers gets sufficiently loud in medium to small sized rooms(200-250 sq.feet) with almost no distortion(Very slight distortion is noticeable at very high volumes, but negligible at that loudness). ----------------------------------------- Do I need an external sub? The answer for this question depends on the user. If you are someone who likes to only hear classic music(Indian and western) since they were not much bass oriented, then there is no need for a sub and the bass produced by these speakers is very fulfilling. If you listen to pop and modern music then i can say the lack of bass is pretty noticeable, the clarity is still there but I find the need of external sub exists there. -To do so you can opt for external active sub with 2 RCA input and use a pre-amp. -or maybe simply use a 3.5 mm splitter and split the audio(But this way you will miss the Bluetooth connectivity) -Go for the costly model (R1855DB which has a sub out port). I didn't went for that because the price difference at the time of purchase was too wide and it made up for the price of my pre-amp. --------------------------------------- My setup to use with subwoofer: I am using a Aiyima pre-amp with these speakers since it was the only pre-amp with 2 channels of output. One channel(2RCA-2RCA connects my Edifier speakers) and other channel (Also 2-2RCA) connects my sub. I am using the crossover frequency knob on my sub and keep the bass on speaker on -4. My subwoofer is Yamaha NS-SW300. Its very overkill, but I purchased it for future proofing(I only use the sub on 4/10 volume and it shakes my apartment badly). ---------------------------------------- These are very very amazing piece of equipment with amazing sound quality and design, They look very pretty and premium on the table. The route to quality Hi-Fi home audio is a long journey and I suggest all to go for quality equipment one by one and slowly. These pair of bookshelf are a very very good place to start. Thanks :)

Edifier R1700BT - Budget speakers for Music lovers.
I'm writing this review after almost 3 months of using the product. My earlier setup was Logitech Z623 (2.1 setup, with an incredible subwoofer). I have had the logitech for almost 6 years and more than the speakers the packed in electronics gave up and I started looking around for budget speaker setups other than logitech Z623, they were super nice for movies, games but sound quality just wasn't there when it came to music. So, this time around I decided I'll go for a stereo setup and my search hunt brought me to edifier as a brand producing great sounding speaker setups. I read a lot of reviews (that is why I'm leaving this one, so it may help someone looking for good sounding speakers) watched a lot of YouTube reviews as well (mostly seemed edifier gave them speakers for reviews, new product launch etc). I had made up my mind that I will buy edifier speakers to check them out and see what everyone is raving about online is true or not. I bought the edifier R1700 BT (from Amazon) after evaluating my budget, my need and a long drawn process of eliminating speakers after speakers from my list. When they arrived I expected them to be a little bigger, but what can one do those YouTube videos I tell you! (place the camera in such a way that they look bigger) these are not tiny either and they are heavy and speaker construction look sturdy as well. Setting them up was easy, I connected to them via Bluetooth and the sound which came out from these 4inch speakers was indeed fantastic. Amazing stereo speration, amazing highs, amazing mids and decent bass, overall reproduction of sound was warm. With the box came a long connecting speaker wire, keep them at least 4-6 feet apart for better stereo sound or place them as per your room requirements. The right side speaker comes with adjustable bass/treble and volume nob etc. You can increase the bass if you want, one thing though the overall sound reproduction get muddled at higher volumes due the inbuilt DSP, if you increase the bass too much. Music you will love listening on this - Classical, Jazz, Rock, Alternative Rock, Pop, Indie rock/pop, Hip-hop, EDM(don't increase the bass so much that the sound goes for a toss) etc etc, overall you will enjoy everything on this and to my surprise even movies, the vocals were really good, the action sequences are decent/good, as I have been spoilt by my earlier logitech setup (miss the subwoofer and low thundering sound). For the purpose I bought them (listening to music), they do justice and go beyond. Love them. Should you buy them? My Answer - Hell yeah! Date : 10th November 2019 I have been listening them for more than 1.5 years. The sound quality is still fantastic and no problem at all. Most people who come home, and if I like them enough, I give them a demo of these incredible set of speakers and all I get in return is mesmerised faces! Thank you Edifier for making this possible. I'll keep updating this review.

edifier r 1700bt is a wonderful speaker and my experice of 10 days is exceptional i am a music listener who lisens music atleast for 2 to 3 hours a day if possible now if you are planning to buy this then i can tell you go for it but still ifeel my responsibility to tell who should buy them and who should not . pros. 1.its very compatible and fits on your bookshelf easly it can be easly put on a computer table. 2.this looks great ,i mean the design is great and the wooden touch add gems to the overall look, just watching them you will love them.hatts off edifier. 3.all the cables and the blue tooth works flawless iconnect it to my tv and sounds dam good for my hd channel one i noted there is a small ticle sound in some channels but thats ok as to get great output you need great input ,but the sound goes after some time and for some channels its not even there overall i enjoy watching movies itt just enhancces the sound try watching ice age 4 it just gave me chills at some points,i play ericclapton songs from the bluetooth and sounds crisp clear i just dont have words to express the awsm sound it produces. 4.i m not a sound director but i definetly know what good sound and marshall at some sections they sound far better as i have heard them at my friends house,my friends feel jealous when they listen to my edifiers and i dont mind. now the cons 1.actually there are no cons if you ask me but if i have to say then it would be in some songs i have heard extra bass or trebble but i am good with that as there are to knobs one for bass and one for treeble which is great again. verdict.these speakers are not for out site use yes you can use for small get togather at your garden as i do and 62rms will blast off things but if you dont have much to do with the quality of music (i know you do)and just want boom and shake the doors and windows of your neighbour the you are looking at the wrong place ,these speakers are made with one aim and that is quality sound so turn off the light and relax on your bed with your partner enjoy your favourite song and dont focus on blasting others ear drum just buy them dont give asecond thought....thanku edifiers for making such alovely speaker ,i am from india have a wonderful day.

Worth every penny.
I am so amazed at the sound quality these speakers deliver. I played audiophiles and bhajans both sounded equally sweet to my ears. Tweeters for high range, mid range and base all together make a great soundstage. Keep the two speaker separated by at least 8 feet and notice the sound depth and wide. 10/10 from my side.

Superb pair of speakers, well worth the money
Clear, powerful sound. Well suited to playing just about all kinds of music. More than adequate bass (you'll have to turn it down in most cases). Excellent build quality, the wood finish looks very nice. The cables supplied with the speakers are of adequately good (though not exceptional) quality. Overall, an excellent choice if you're looking for a reasonably compact pair of speakers that sound fabulous, and cost less than Rs 20,000.
