Yes. It is a standard MIDI keyboard. I use it with Finale and Garage Band.

do you need an external speakers for sound output?

Of course. This is a USB keyboard, which generally works with laptops/desktops. If you're going to be writing digital music, it is expected that you have headphones or speakers to work with already for your laptop/desktop.

Is this compatible with fl studios?

I need a small keyboard for travel. I love Korg but my concern is the key size. Are the keys on the micro 25 close to real size?
