First Alert 10 Year Back Up Hard-Wired w/Battery Back-Up Ionization Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detect

We've had this brand since day one of home ownership. After 25 years, we replaced the whole house worth (7 units). Since we had these previously, it was easy to pull the old down and put the new up. It's a pain when the batteries start to weaken and the chirping begins in fire detection units, so these were a great option for us when it was time to renew.

They provide 2 different power cables with adapters and one of them plugged into my existing power connection making installation very easy.

Surprised it didn't come with some screws for installation but otherwise very good units and easy to put up.

Best check with electrician/handyman before purchasing. It may or may not be compatible. I had to return mine for incompatibility. It was easy & quick to return and obtain a refund.

Needed to replace all smoke detectors in the house including combination smoke and Co2 detectors. First Alert hard wired detectors with 10 year batteries. So far so good!

We had an older version of a lesser model from the same brand that hit their 10 year expiration date so we already had the built in wiring, and it used the same harness. All I had to do was pop the old base plate off, install the new one, plug in the existing wires, and twist it into place. Not having to deal with batteries for 10 years will be amazing. No more random chirping when we miss a battery replacement in one of the alarms.

Impossible to attach to base without modifications. The "turn to install" does not work unless you file away the plastic stops in grooved base.

Installed easily (but requires removal of old ceiling ring). Love that it doesn't need to be replaced for years.
