Using with Visual Studio Code + PlatformIO, easy config, easy programming. Documentation a little tricky. All three boards are working.

Using for building a clock, ticker, scoreboard
I am currently using one of these to build a clock, ticker, sports scrolling board for my garage. Using my mac air and arduino. Plugged it in and and programmed and working well so far. Only in programming stage so have not breadboarded yet, but so far so good.

Reliable and Easy to Use
I've purchased two sets of these now, as well as other brands that quite frankly I found disappointing for various reasons. All of the boards have worked flawlessly, some despite literally dozens of code downloads while debugging and expanding designs. The biggest advantage of these boards over some of the other variants I've purchased is that I've never had to hold the boot button when downloading code from an Arduino IDE. This has not been the case for some other manufacturers' versions, and given that some of my larger programs can take several minutes to compile before downloading, it's quite inconvenient having to pay attention to be able to press and hold the boot button at the proper time. (That said, there is the trick where you can jumper data pin 0 to ground until after downloading is complete, but depending on whether you are prototyping or have it installed in a way that the pins are no longer easily accessible, this is not always a convenient solution.) So while these do cost a bit more than some alternatives, the fact that they reliably program without having to hold the boot button is, at least to me, worth the small increase in cost. And Elegoo has great documentation (which is more relevant to some of their other products, but I mention because it just goes to the time and quality they put into their products).

Awesome USBC alternative for original DEV KIT 1
I've been buying these instead of the original Dev Kit 1 boards with Micro USB. USB-C is widely preferred. No issues connecting to or uploading sketches in Arduino. I'll continue to buy these boards from now on.

Try it.
Fun board. No issue when using Arduino IDE, all examples and online guidance work. Easy to learn the basics. Advance? I'm not there yet. Nevertheless, if, like me, you are using platform IO (VS Code), it's a tad trickier. Some libraries are specific to ESP32 and you'll have to identify them. There are very few examples and guidance for Platform IO, especially if you want to use the Wi-Fi and/or Bluetooth. Most of the examples stop short of giving you a full application to be able to fully understand how to communicate. They show how to set-up but nothing about how to build, interact and use... Took me few hours of combining Arduino examples, tweak them and then tries and errors to get it right... But I'm a beginner so... I Really need documentation. The lack of Documentation for beginner seems to be a general rule. There's not lack for advanced users tough. Just one feature that I really wish the board had better, DAC higher than 8bit. At least 10bit would be welcome... I'm still using external DAC 12bit for accuracy on some applications. When you get it right, it's fun to play with this board. Love the speed.... Worse every $ and time you put to learn it and seamless transition from Arduino if not using Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.

nefty little device
pretty handy controller. we are making a seismograph (the ESP32 and a 5060 accelerometer) that can be placed in any place and transmits the data witlessly to a computer for graphing and data collection.

No documentation to be found (initially)
NOTE: EDITED!! Original review text left intact below, but read to the end for update/ additional details. This product arrived very nicely packaged/protected for shipping, but otherwise (in my humble experience) not a good choice for your first steps into the realm of ESP32. There was absolutely no documentation included (except for the pinout image that you can find in the product description here on Amazon.) My bad I guess for not checking into support prior to purchase. About a year ago I had purchased an Arduino "Mega" starter kit from Elegoo, as my first experience with microcontrollers. I was quite satisfied with the support/documentation included with that kit, and since that initial kit purchase I have gone on to successfully complete a number of projects utilizing various flavours of Arduino boards, interfacing with a variety of integrated circuits, sensors, screens, etc. So while I'm new to ESP32 I'm not a totally clueless noob when it comes to programming microcontrollers. Unfortunately that previous Elegoo Arduino kit experience was a major factor in my choosing these particular ESP32 boards. When they arrived I was dismayed to find no documentation, no support of any kind, not even a whiff of the existence of this product on Elegoo's website. I have installed ESP32 support in my Arduino IDE and it seems like the IDE is able to connect to the board. I have one of the boards mounted in a breadboard right now and powered up via USB - but have yet to get any kind of meaningful response from any of the test sketches I've uploaded so far, such as a basic LED blink. And before you ask, yes the LED works fine and I can light it up directly from the 5.0v and 3.3v pins on the ESP32 board. EDIT: Update!! โ A representative from Elegoo reached out to me within hours after I had posted this review, offering assistance. They provided some additional resources that got me going immediately. I am very impressed with their speedy support โ but only wish they could have simply provided a link to those resources right up front. (like a slip of paper (in the package along with the boards) that included the link to the resources ?!? I have upgraded my rating from 3 to 5 based on their super quick support response, and since all three of the boards are now tested and working flawlessly. Highly recommended with the caveat that if you're new to ESP32 (as I was) don't hesitate to visit the support page on Elegoo's website and request assistance / resources. Based on my experience they should get back to you promptly!
