Beautiful Stockman Folder
Beautiful knife, materials feel very quality. I can see this being my EDC for a long time. It needed some help from my end to sharpen it up to where I like my blades. But I enjoy the process of sharpening a new knife, makes it your own.

W.R. Case and Sons #7049 Stockman
These days, there are a lot of good quality choices out there when it comes to buying a new knife. As a knife collector, I love a lot of them and also have good things to say about some of the other brands out there. There are a lot of knife steels out there with some great properties to make blades with, but here are a few of the differences I have observed with my Case products: ♣Case knives are still 100% made in USA by real expert craftsmen. ♣EXACT fit and finish on all mating pieces, smooth opening, and beautiful to look at. They still take obvious PRIDE in their work. ♣Real dyed bone handles. ♣They hold an edge like no other knife I have ever owned- they stay sharper longer than my Shrades, Gerbers, Bucks, or Kershaws. ♣Lifetime guarantee. ♣Tough! The handles have never loosened or come off on any of my Case knives. ♣These are not just good quality knives- they are among the BEST knives made. Period. When my grandpa passed away in 1994, I received his Case pocket knife. It was the only knife he ever carried with him and he had probably used it for 25 or 30 years before I got it. It is still a great knife to this day and holds a fine edge for a long time. I have since bought a couple other Case knives and I expect they will become heirlooms to my own grandchildren someday.

Top Notch for Everyday Use
Case pocket knives are always going to be top notch. Not inexpensive, but a great value nonetheless. I've owned many Case Stockman (and other) knives and would not be caught without one. Case is top notch.

May have been just a fluke in production inspection line!
Poor quality control, when 1st unwrapped from paper in the box the medallion fell out on the floor, I could probably have super glued it back and may have been none the wiser but upon opening 2 if the 3 blades I found swatches of buffing compound on them. Did not try to wipe it off as was leery of this being a reject and getting sent by mistake. This is highly unlikely as the packaging contained the medallion. Someone would have noticed that so I surmised that it was poor quality control. I've ordered an exact replacement in lieu of a refund, It'll be here tomorrow, Wish me luck! If the replacement is what I believe I ordered initially, I will modify this review.

Case Cutlery 7049 Medium Stockman Pocket Knife with Stainless Steel Blades.
I ordered the Case 7049 pocket knife for my 11-year old great-grandson. He is into knives and firearms now and I teach him all I know about guns and knives. With the first lessons in both guns and knives being safety in handling knives and guns regarding property, animals and persons. The next phase is the proper use in target practicing with firearms as well as the use of knives in working and fun. I buy him only the best choices (In my opinion) of knives and firearms. This method creates heirlooms that he can pass along after he has taught his descendants how to use and appreciate them. Why I buy him quality, name brand knives and firearms, is because he appreciates quality and CASE knives are quality products that I enjoy having, using and just plain looking at. This CASE 7049 pocket knife with its BLUE bone handles is pretty to look at, feel and use. I RATE IT IN THE TOP 5 BRANDS THAT I BUY FOR MY GREAT-GRANDSON AND HE DOES ALSO. AMAZON'S price value is tops too. ALFRED E. NEUMAN.

WONDERFUL KNIFE, BUT, BEWARE THE COLORING!!!
I love the knife, well made, so smooth at the handle/bolster transition, nice snap (firm spring), polished for great fit and finish. As in other reviews two of the blades do rub together when opening and closing. Case should address this as there are numerous complaints about this. Now to my only real issue. BEWARE the shading colors you are seeing in the advertisements. I looked at this knife on various web sites trying (as most of us do) to get a good look at the knife all around and get a good feel for what it was prior to my order. I found that most of the sites showed this beautiful blue handled knife showing light hues of blue near the bolsters to a darker navy blue near the center and around the red case emblem. This is what caught my eye in the first place. It appeared to be a really pretty knife. Different sites show different shades of blue (different cameras/different photographers/different lighting) but the theme of light blue near the edges to darker navy blue near the center remained the same. I watched reviews on youtube and still for the most part the look was the same. When my knife arrived I was very disappointed as the handles were both super dark blue with little to no shadings or hues ("smoky mountain knife works" videos did show them a little darker). As a matter of fact, the handles on my knife appeared nearly completely black indoors. It was as though Case dyed the handles too dark but sent them out anyway. I walked outside in the sun and looked at the handles and could then see that they were blue but wow, so so dark, not navy, darker than that! I expected my knife to be different somewhat as Case will tell you that no two knives are exactly the same. However, I wanted my knife to be similar to the advertisement photographs, hey, that's why I ordered it in the first place. The handles were so dark with hardly any shading and honestly, the handles had no character. Could have gotten a black boned knife without much difference. Now to the good part! I contacted Amazon and they immediately sent out a replacement for exchange. This second knife had the shading and hues of blue closer to the advertising, and the same wonderful fit and finish of the bolsters and blades but in a much more beautiful handle. Amazon made me happy with a quick fix and as always excellent service! This is great knife, but beware the coloring, what you get may not be true to the brilliant blues seen in the photo's across the web!

What a lovely knife. It's the right combination of small and weighty in the pocket. The two smaller blades were extremely sharp right out of the box. The clip point was sharp enough to slice paper, but not quite as smoothly as the two smaller blades, which glided through it as cleanly as you could ask for. Seems like great build quality overall so far, however the blades do touch slightly marking one of them, but that seems to be a common trait of the Case Stockman. The other common complaint is the emblem falling out. Mine came attached quite firmly, but it's too early to say if it will need to be glued back in at some point down the road. Neither of those two gripes will detract from my everyday use of the knife, so I give it full marks.

So I received my knife, came in a nice small box with care instructions. After opening my knife the blades had scratches over them. The blades aren't lined up well. After a week or so of owning it, it slipped from my pocket on the sofa, as I stood up, it fell on the floor and the logo badge fell off. I emailed CaseXX and got a standard reply email saying someone would be in touch in a couple of days... Its been a couple of weeks and no answer from them, even after sending a chase email to see they got my message, I have heard nothing... This will be the last knife I buy from casexx, which is a shame, as the knife is ok apart from those faults
