Generally speaking
I don't have any comment about this volume of the series as such, since I've actually only made my way through the first 5 volumes so far. I guess I could say that I don't care for manga in general and almost never read it, but the fact that I've worked my way through 5 700-page volumes (out of 12 total) should tell you something. I didn't know originally that these volumes are followed by additional volumes with only the cub, and no lone wolf, and I'll likely eventually pick those up as well. I would like to make a brief comment about getting what you ordered. This particular volume happens to have an identical cover illustration to a (much shorter) single issue of the Lone Wolf and Cub comics. Now, apparently, to make things easier for 3rd-party book-sellers, Amazon provides an app which the 3rd-party seller uses to snap an image of the cover, which Amazon then matches against a database, and then automatically fills in all or the information for the Amazon website. What this means is that if two different books have the same cover, you may end up ordering the one but getting the other, and the seller will be none the wiser until you start complaining. This worked out well for me, since it means I ended up getting one of them for free, but it's kind of frustrating when it happens to you. Another point of interest about the cover illustrations is that even though these are manga, the cover illustrations are not by the manga artist. I think that's rather curious, although I have to admit that the rather sketch-like style of the actual Lone Wolf and Cub illustrations is probably not too conducive to being colorized, so I can understand the motivation.

These are great stuff readers
A lot of content, you'll get your money's worth. One of the creators is now passed, there won't be any more of these other than the ones now in the series. And if you like things Japanese , check out the movies made in the '70s based on these books.

Great manga
Amazing book, but packaging could have been better. There's now a crease on the back of the book.

SURRENDER THE YAGYU LETTER, ITTO!
Do you like slow, contemplative plots? Tender romance? A family-friendly story line? Then go buy something else, because this is a huge brick of unbridled violence, all wrapped up in glorious depictions of feudal Japan and twisting plots. If you've already made it to number 7 then you should know what to expect.
