I'm continually impressed with the ideas this company has for innovative products. If you are building a 10" rack setup and everything you are installing in the rack uses barrel plugs for power, then you need this. 7 "channels" of power, each with it's own on/off toggle switch and LED, please each channel is internally protected from overcurrent. Each channel has a barrel jack on both the front and rear of the PDU so you have your choice of where to connect the cables (or you can use both, but be aware of your power draw per channel). The connectors are all 5.5x2.1mm connectors, and you get 6 cables (3 short, 3 longer) plus some 2.1mm to 2.5mm adapters for plugging into items that have a 2.5mm innter diameter plug. How it works: You provide your own power supply at whatever voltage you need (up to 24V), for example 12V or 5V, and plug it into this PDU. This unit will distribute that power to all 7 channels. Note that if you have a mix of 5V, 12V, and/or 24V devices, you'll need to power them individually or use multiple PDU's, each for one voltage level (Be careful with this approach so you don't plug something into the wrong PDU!). This is quite small. 10" rack amount, half-height. You can mount it on the front of your rack if you like to have access to the switches and/or status LED's, or mount it on the back where it makes it easier to feed power cables to your devices and to save space. PROS: Small, 10" 1/2 height form factor makes it easy to find a spot for it in your 10" rack Power in/out connectors both on front and back for flexible setup options Each of the 7 channels has a power switch, status LED, and overcurrent protection (that resets after 4 seconds) CONS: Would be nice to have a bit more current handling capability 6 cables included but there are 7 channels, of course you can use your own cables I would think this device would be essential for almost any 10" rack project using devices powered by low voltage.

There aren't many options on the market for 10" rack setups, so I'm grateful that they're making this. I think it's a little pricy for what it is and its power limitations, but a nice addition to my home-built 80/20 10" server rack. Love the physical switches.

Only worth it if you only need the exact barrel jacks it comes with. I have HP elitedesk G5 mini PCs with the 7.4mm barrel jacks and I have ordered about 30 adapters and cables so far and none of them will carry enough current from this thing to boot the computer, same goes for my DAS box with a different connector and adapter size. And even if they were working, the wiring saving is not that much. I am just going with a 1U shelf for the adapters.

Day 1 - opened box to only realize it didn’t include a power supply or diagrams of internals so had to carefully calculate power requirements before getting right power supply Day 5 - power supply arrived. Got my 6 Pi 5s into the mini-rack + pdu. Looks good everything works Day 45 - wake-up to my mini-rack ups screaming in the middle of the night. Run into the room to find a strange smell and the mini-rack ups screaming a warning. My other racks and ups units are quiet as a mouse. So, this was not a power surge. On closer inspection the smell was coming from the pdu… something shorted. All 6 pi were fine but this was due to my ups cutting power to the rack on fault detection. On further testing and disassembly found that some pdu components fused and switches no longer worked. Overall: great idea and fits great into a 10in rack. Considering the failure mode and severity I will never buy another one again. Didn’t bother returning due to low cost and this being a harsh feedback. GeekPi, please use the money to improve your product.

This has been great! It Runs most of my devices in my 10" server rack! Each of the 7 connections can be plugged into the front or the rear making this very flexible. Im using a 12v LRS350w switching power supply and have 4 or 5amps per channel inline fuses. Haven't had any issues with connected devices and never tripped a fuse. Love it!
