Having had this for a couple of weeks now I feel I can give a good review of this device. Having been looking at digital notepads for a while, it was the Prime Day deal that finally pushed me towards the Kindle. I already have both a paperwhite and colour kindles, so this was never about the reading of books, but for me this was purely brought to use as a notepad. The device works extremely well, as you would expect from Amazon. The writing looks and feels natural and I can create as many notebooks, in as many folders as I like. Perfect for writing notes as I bounce from meeting to meeting, managing multiple workstreams and projects during the course of my day. The AI functions have, so far, proven to be accurate about 90% of the time, which is good enough for me. It can tidy up my scribbles into summaries that read back well and reinforce my understanding and knowledge, helping my achieve my goals. Battery life is good, I have the device on at least 9 hrs a day, 5 days a week, and so far, I'm charging it once a week.....while I'm still working and using it at my desk! Overall I am very happy with my purchase.

This review was written on the new Kindle Scribe, and the handwriting was converted to digital text. It has not been edited except for paragraph space 'g. The Scribe was bought to replace a tired early Paperwhite, and as a notebook. It is larger but no more difficult to handhold than the Papucolite The larger screen improves the reading experience as it presents text that is more like the page of a physical paperback. Writing on it is straightforward, as is the conversion to digital text; just send it to an email address and download from the link provided. I would prefer a little more friction for the pen as I feel it would give more control and allow me to better form my handwriting. Nevertheless it recognised my scrawl from the outset. I just need to refine it to improve the recognition. I have many of my best ideas at night and I needed a way capture them with out disturbing my wife. A normal tablet did not work so when I needed to replace my kindle reader the Scribe seemed to be the way to go-especially with the 20%+ £5 trade in discount for my old kindle. Still a bit pricey though but I think it will be worth it. So, a couple of weeks in I am very satisfied. It serves both needs very well. As an aside; I did not go for the colour version as I am only using it to capture thoughts; Any serious writing or content creation will be produced on a keyboard.

Absolutely love it! I have have moved from a Paper white to an Oasis over the last 10 years and was never quite satisfied with the screen size - I personally love a bigger screen for reading. I decided to take the plunge after the scribe 2 went on sale - and I am glad I did. Tbh I ordered it mostly to read - which is great as it's a bigger screen, I can read books both for pleasure and work (academic papers), but also now can view recipe books and other guide books with ease. I really love the warm screen adaptability kindle offers - I have quite sensitive eyes and it is so much easier to read this way. What I didn't think I would ever like or use were the notebooks - it's something I ever realised I needed and how much easier it has made my life now - I have taken notes at work meetings and asked it to summarise it and it was great and very accurate. The AI also seemed to understand the very trash handwriting my husband has - which goes to say something about the good accuracy of getting things right. Plus, I finally can write my journal in bed on the kindle - with my ADHD, I often struggle to keep pen and notebook next to me and lost it most time - this has been great to track my mental health and write out my emotions every night ! Value for money is still debatable as it depends on your personal circumstances too - i would say at the lower price with the trade in gift card and discount, it is still worth it for me personally as it has solved a lot of issues for me and made my ADHD ridden chaotic life a bit more manageable. Plus the ease of use and lighting calms my overstimulated senses and autistic brain! It is also super fast and snappy! Great upgrade from my 6 year old Oasis.

I have had this for more than 3 months and use it as a notebook (mostly for work) and also to read kindle books from the Kindle store. I absolutely love it. For work I have used note pads forever. I have lots of clients and lots of mini projects, some big some very small and most of these repeat in some way every year. Rather than keeping old notebooks and spending ages looking for the old notes I am now able to have all the notes in one place. This is thanks to the filing system (you can create file names and put them in folders and sub folder just like a Windows file system). This makes life so much easier. The pen is great and there are lots of ink styles to suit your preference. I find the eraser and the select tool (bit like cut and paste) very useful so that i can amend and update notes or to do lists day after day after day. There are plenty of other features like AI text recognition, exporting files, various paper templates, but i basically use one page style 99% of the time and nothing else. Then its a really big, clear and bright display (with backlight for night reading) so you can read your notes whenever and wherever. Then the actual Kindle books thing is also superb. Some might think its a bit big,but for me, not the case at all. I read books on this several hours a week whilst riding the train to and from work. I have a kindle folio case. That holds the kindle really well and offers enough protection for me to not worry about this being in my bag or on a table. It shows no signs of wear after 3 months constant use. One thing I would like to see if a “tag” system to help locate files in a different way (have seen this on the main alternative to this) but i think I probably only want this because I haven’t actually got it!

I have had the scribe for some time now and can honestly say I love it. This gets used every day for notes for work and work documents for reading and also for listening to audiobooks. So why do I use this over my IPad?(which I also love) well ther are few reasons 1. Writing- It feels really good to write on, it gives a pleasant scratchy feel so it isn’t like writing on ice but feels very paper like & I can rest my hand on the pad while writing without it going balmy. 2. Files - I can separate my notebooks, so I have a work day book a scrap pad for making notes while on calls or mapping ideas or presentations, my grandson has his own folder where he can draw and doodle and when I go conferences or specific events I have a note book for these so it dosnt get lost in my work day book, and all this in one device so no more scraps of paper cluttering my desk or car, no loosing notes and most important not carrying different notebooks 3.Kindle & Audible- I use both of these services in my everyday life, it is how I switch off, relax and reset and these gives the use of both, I love the big screen for comics and I am still fascinated by whisper sync the best feature Amazon has ever released, reading of standard books is good the screen is very adaptable so you adjust so you can read without wearing glasses something as a new glasses user appreciates (I can’t get use to wearing them) 4. Documents - this is more for the wider kindle infrastructure but uploading docs is so easy, using the document upload feature is so easy and again this feature means I have access to all my work related docs in one location without carrying 15 brochures in my bag when seeing customers and I never forget the one I need!!! All in all I can’t recommend this product enough and I look forward to the coloursoft version because that will make comic books pop and will be better for my work related brochures.

Definitely not worth the money Stuck on the same page for over 19hours now I bought this device hoping it would be a reliable tool for reading and taking handwritten notes for my studies. Unfortunately, my experience has been extremely frustrating. The device freezes at times and recently became stuck on the restart screen and would not turn on properly, even after charging it for hours and attempting the recommended resets. Because of this, I cannot access any of the study materials and notes that were saved on it. What makes the situation even worse is that I am currently travelling and cannot receive a replacement in time. This means I have lost access to important information I needed while preparing for my exams. I purchased this specifically to organise and rely on my study notes, so it is very disappointing to discover that it is not dependable. For a device that is promoted as a digital notebook, it is concerning that it can freeze or suddenly stop working, leaving you unable to access your own notes. Based on my experience, this is not something I would recommend relying on for important study or work. I expected much better reliability.

Let me tell you what I like about the KS (1) Screen clarity and contrast (2) Screen clarity and contrast (3) Screen clarity and contrast (and front light) (4) Writing note experience - pen is nice in weight, lag imperceptible, Smart Button and erasers work well. I don’t ever find myself pressing the smart button accidentally and I have big hands - perfectly placed with just the right pressure sensitivity (5) Having my Kindle library for study / serious books. I think when I read for leisure the Paperwhite is best (6) The pen menu in note taking is minimalist and fits with the distraction free ethos those of us who have epaper devices are after. I have had 3 others now, all returned and all disappointed. I can’t tell you their makes but one from the most famous in this space (liked; minimalism and file management, didn’t like no front light and 227DPI a bit scratchy - you can’t unsee the pixels - yes, my OCD and your MMV) and the others poor screen contrast too black or colour on grey. KS is really easy on the eyes. These devices are not a bundle of Pros and Cons of which screen quality is one alongside software, eco system, etc. Screen is all that matters first. If it passes that, go to step 2. If not the rest doesn’t matter! (7) I really like the design. slim and good weight. Understated and elegant. (8) Kindles own sleeve (I got the fabric effect one) is really nice to hold and the choice of a top rather than side hinge works great and well done Amazon for the pen loop. Magnet is great but in a bag it would fall off. (9) How they manage screen refresh - whole screen or around the eraser … they’ve got this right where avery other one I’ve tried has ghosting problems What is not so good? (1) Switching between reading library and notebooks - too many steps. Off screen swipe up or two finger swipe to a switcher could be used? (2) When deleting an active canvas (or anything) delete? Yes. Are you sure you want to delete? Yes. Don’t put in the second step. I told the screen I wanted to delete. Done. (3) It froze after one active canvas and needed a re-boot which isn’t fast (about a minute?) (4) a split screen option to write notes beside studying book in library (in landscape) (5) When you highlight text in a book on an iOS device kindle app one option is ‘copy’ the quote. Can’t do that here. Why not? Be supper cool to be able to do that and paste into a note you’re working on…. Notice something? Every limitation I’ve got is software and every ‘compliment’ is hardware. If the former can be changed with updates, and of course it could - can’t wait for the promised big margin thing for notes which I would prefer to active canvas (a rival has this and its a good fix) - the balance shifts even further to Pros over Cons. But if you but something with a dull screen, or no front light if you need it, no software update will sort that. Which brings me to Amazon’s marketing / PR failure, and a plea to think carefully, dear would be purchaser. If you look at the reviews of the KS 2022 almost all 5 stars. And of the KS 2024 almost all low stars, and many one. Why? everyone loved the first because it never claimed to offer AI. In the second better hardware and software, failed only because it didn’t offer the AI in non USA markets. Over promise, under deliver. If you can see past this, you will love the KS 2024. If AI comes to the UK great!! But for me without it, it is perfect for what I want it to be and do. I honestly can’t believe any AI could manage my handwriting anyway. I’m really impressed. ———————————- Just another thought (Amazon!?) the orientation self sorts for portrait either way after inverting the device. But to set to landscape takes 5 steps/taps. I switch between them a lot for different tasks. Couldn’t this be automatic with an orientation lock to prevent of reading lying down?? Thanks Amazon!

The Kindle Scribe itself is a good device. I enjoyed reading on it and the note-taking features were very useful. My disappointment is not with the product itself, but with Amazon's customer service, which was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. After only 4 months, my Kindle developed a fault and had to be returned. What followed was weeks of confusion, stress, and completely inconsistent customer service. Every time I contacted Amazon, I received a different answer. One representative would tell me one thing, and the next would tell me something completely different. Nobody seemed to know what was happening with my case. The situation became even more frustrating when I was eventually told that Amazon had not received my returned Kindle. I was informed that I would not receive a refund because they claimed they did not have my device. This was extremely upsetting, especially as I had already sent it back. After weeks of waiting, worrying, and repeatedly contacting customer service, I finally received a replacement. However, despite being told that I would receive a new Kindle, I was sent a refurbished device instead. The entire process was a complete mess from start to finish. Poor communication, contradictory information, long delays, and the stress of being told that my returned device had supposedly not been received made this an incredibly frustrating experience. I expected much better from Amazon. The Kindle Scribe may be a good product, but the customer service experience was so disappointing that it seriously damaged my trust in the company.

Nunca he tenido la sensación de sostener un libro de verdad y, al final, siempre he tenido que volver al formato físico para solventarlo. Hasta ahora. El Kindle Scribe es un gran ebook de 10 pulgadas que no deja de ser la versión mayor del Kindle Paperwhite, con muchos añadidos y acabados premium. De entrada, notaremos su incremento de peso respecto a sus hermanos pequeños —aunque para mí no supone un problema— y su parte trasera de aluminio, muy suave y delicada al tacto. Su tamaño es lo más parecido a un libro de bolsillo que podemos tener entre las manos. Se acabó eso de pasar páginas cada 40 segundos; aquí podemos orientar la imagen en horizontal y partirla en dos para que la sensación de estar leyendo un libro de verdad sea total. Las opciones de configuración de letras, espaciados y párrafos son absolutas y, con el formato KFX, al incluir guiones en palabras largas, el justificado del párrafo es mucho más homogéneo. No solo se disfruta con libros: el manga es otro gran beneficiado del gran formato, pudiéndose leer sin ningún problema en cualquiera de las dos orientaciones. El Kindle Scribe es más que un ebook de lectura. Como su nombre indica, una de sus mayores virtudes es la posibilidad de escritura. Quizás no sea una cualidad que vaya a ser aprovechada por todos los usuarios, pero es, sin duda, una característica que sorprende cuando se usa. Gracias a la rugosidad de su pantalla y al estilo del lápiz, da una sensación real de estar escribiendo sobre papel. Hasta que no se prueba, no se puede imaginar lo bien que está conseguida. La única pega es que las puntas del lápiz se agotan como las de verdad y toca tirar de recambios cada cierto tiempo. Quizás se podrían mejorar las opciones de software, pues estoy convencido de que tiene muchas posibilidades aún no explotadas. Pese a todo lo positivo del Kindle Scribe, hay algo que sigo sin entender de Amazon: esa cabezonería por cerrar el formato. Es absurdo, y más cuando muchos de nosotros tiramos de servicios como eBiblio para leer. Es incomprensible seguir aferrándose solo a su formato y va siendo hora de abrir el ecosistema del dispositivo, especialmente cuando existen programas como Calibre. No me cabe duda de que sus ventas subirían exponencialmente. Con todo lo bueno, que es mucho, y lo malo, que podría solucionarse si Amazon quisiera, el Scribe es posiblemente el mejor ebook del mercado. Ahora que está próxima su versión en color, habría que valorar cuál sería mejor para uno mismo, aunque la diferencia de precio seguramente no me merecería la pena si lo que buscas es una buena lectura y hacer anotaciones sobre PDF y otros documentos.

Ho aspettato un po' prima di prenderlo perché ero scettico, ma mi sono dovuto ricredere: questo Scribe è un game-changer. Il punto di forza assoluto è lo schermo: scrivere con la Penna Premium (quella con la gomma dietro, comodissima) non dà quella sensazione scivolosa da "vetro" tipica dei tablet. C'è un attrito leggero che sembra davvero carta. Per me che prendo appunti continuamente (per studio o lavoro) è fantastico, ho eliminato decine di fogli volanti. Leggere su un 10.2 pollici è tutta un'altra storia rispetto al Kindle classico: i PDF e i manuali tecnici si leggono benissimo senza dover zoomare impazzendo. La luce calda regolabile è una salvezza per gli occhi la sera. La batteria è infinita, dura settimane e non giorni. Certo, non è un tablet multimediale, ma fa una cosa sola e la fa alla perfezione: ti fa concentrare su lettura e scrittura senza distrazioni (niente notifiche!). Costoso, ma per un professionista o uno studente è un investimento che si ripaga da solo.
