Pricey but excellent microphone. Properly set up, you will look like and sound like a professional. But if cost is your main priority, there are much cheaper options.

Very satisfied with the quality of the microphone itself. The boom arm I received is a Samson MBA38, rather than the auray model shown in the picture. I noticed this same arm in the picture of another recent review, so they may have changed the included arm without updating the listing. This boom arm does not include an integrated XLR cable, not an issue in my case, as other reviews claim it was low quality anyways, but definitely worth noting that despite the description stating "Two-Section Broadcast Arm with Internal Springs and Integrated XLR Cable" You may still need to purchase a separate XLR cable.

I'm a full-time recording artist and singer/songwriter. I have used many microphones over the years and recently switched to the RE20 after I did a blind, side-by-side quality test on more than twenty different mics. The RE20 came out on top against a whole bunch of high-quality mics. If you want really great quality vocals, give it a try. Highly recommended.

Oh, yes, I know there's much love out there for the SM7B. Some people even prefer the MD421. But if you're looking for a broadcast-style mic with plenty of side and rear rejection, which still allows you room to move around, and has as close to a flat response curve as you will ever find on a dynamic microphone, the RE20 is what you want. Easy to EQ to your liking, and great SPL handling. Tough to pop plosives into when you position it properly, as well. There's a reason you'll find it in radio stations the world over. It can take anything and everything you throw at it. The included boom and mount are fantastic as well. The boom is a little stiff out of the box, but don't try to loosen it up, just let it loosen itself and it'll be just fine. The tension in the springs is just right for the mount and the mic. The boom I used to have in its place never would have held them. The mount itself is pretty much just a knock-off of EV's own mount, and works just as well. There's nothing weak or poorly-made about it. I expect to get years of use out of this setup. If you want an RE20 and you've got $500 ready to go, stop reading and just buy this package already. You won't regret it.
