Great clothing rack
This is a great clothing rack and is very sturdy. I bought it those things that you don't want to dry but also use it to dry our hats and mittens. It folds up nicely and is thin enough to fit between the washer and dryer. Definitely a must have.

Updated: DO NOT BUY THIS!
UPDATED/READ BELOW!!! I ordered this specifically because I needed a drying rack option that we can actually put away. Folded up and collapsed down, it takes up less space than a standard box fan and its narrow enough to tuck under or behind any furniture. Expanded all the way, its even bigger than a Walmart one we were borrowing. I love the coating on the metal as I have used lousy racks before that rusted with exposure to wet clothes and caused staining. This came with an allen wrench (genius) to tighten up the nuts should they become loose with regular use. There is very minimal effort to expanding and collapsing this. My only hang up is that locking it in and out is a little hard and I'm worried I'll get pinched one of these days but since it does lock in so securely, this thing is much sturdier than most racks. Update: Its like this rack knew I wrote a good review after a few months and it started to fall apart on me. I cannot count the times I have had to use the allen wrench or pop little pieces back on. At any given point, this thing is in 2-3 pieces. It started collapsing under the normal weight of clothes and all of the bolts started to come undone every time I folded it away (once a week at the most). I can't wait to just buy a regular rack and throw this piece(s) of junk in the trash!

Sturdy and well made and it came assembled!
Perfect substitute for our original flimsy plastic one. And it folds very slim to be put away. The top is difficult to clip on and take off.

It's easy and light but sturdy
I love this! It's so lightweight and easy for me, an elderly person to use. It's lightweight, but very sturdy when set up. I set it inside my shower floor so any moisture can drip from the rack to the shower drain. When I put it away, it is thin enough that it fits right behind my bathroom door (out of sight from anyone). I was able to fit a lot of clothing items on it so it has a larger capacity than expected.

Arrived damaged, but I love the product
When I removed the drying rack from the box, I noticed some of the plastic end-caps were cracked and disintegrated when I removed the shrink-wrap. This does not affect the drying rack usable, though I do have to be careful not to snag any delicates where the end-cap should be. I suppose if I really wanted to I could use some plasti-coating paint to cover that piece. In regards to the product itself, I'm able to fit three loads of wash (whites, brights, and darks) onto 2 of these Whitmor drying racks and 1 of my 3 tiered mesh drying racks. Since my HE washer takes anywhere from 45min to 2hrs per load, I'm able to dry one load on the racks while the other load is being washed. After each load gets a good hour of sun, I throw all three loads of washed clothes into my dryer. By drying in the sun, I'm prolonging the integrity of the clothes and cutting the electricity demand of my dryer by 66%. In energy savings alone, it'll take one year for these racks to pay themselves off.

Design Flaw!
After checking out many different drying racks, I recently purchased this one - and was happy to try it out. However, after only one use, I discovered a fairly significant design flaw. The rack has two free-moving pieces at the top that allow it to fold-up when not in use. The two short bars hook onto the opposite bar on the top of the rack to lock it open while in use. The problem is that after ONE time of unlatching the top so that it could be folded back up and stored, I noticed the black coating chipped off from the act of unhooking them. This was the case despite the fact that I tried to be as gentle as I possibly could while unhooking them. Two things probably contribute to this problem. The first is that it takes a bit of pressure to latch/unlatch the bars. The second being the quality/thickness of the black vinyl coating. I like the idea of the vinyl, but the execution is not up to par. It is disappointing, because up until that point, I was very satisfied with the rack. It seemed a little bit unstable at first, but after adding items of clothing, the rack became very stable. I was able to hang a fair amount of laundry on it as well - and it dried pretty quickly with a small fan blowing on it from across the room. It's a shame because it could have been a pretty good rack if not for the flimsy coating. Only time will tell how it's going to hold-up, but I cant say that I'm very optimistic considering this happened after only one use!

Best Drying Rack I Have Ever Owned
I bought the Whitmor Folding Clothes Drying Rack, Chrome to replace two other racks: a metal one from a retail outlet that was falling apart because of a defective design, and a rickety wooden one that had seen better days. I had lost faith in metal racks, but I reluctantly gave this one a try. After a few weeks of owning our previous metal one, the poles were breaking off, and I tried to avoid moving it around so that I wouldn't aggravate the problem. I was expecting a similar experience with this one. I am glad to say that even though this one cost less money than the one it was replacing, it remains just as sturdy now as the day I took it out of the box. It locks securely in place and like the black, rubbery surface on the poles as well. Thank goodness I didn't have to go back to wooden racks! Although it has less drying space, I would definitely recommend this over racks like the Moerman 88345 Laundry Solutions 3-Tier Airer Indoor/Outdoor Folding Clothes Drying Rack 49 Feet of Drying Space . The Whitmor appears to be a much higher quality product, and my only regret is not buying one or two more of them instead of the Moerman!
