Well made and works!
Powerful little sander, had one just like it years ago. A little workhorse and great for small areas.

works as advertised
Good bargain. Easy to use. Does exactly what it's supposed to do. I was surprised that I have use the included template to punch holes in the sandpaper; without the holes, the vacuum function isn't effective.

Pretty Good Sander
My previous palm grip sanders were Makita and DeWalt, several of them. I got this Skil to use until I get around to repairing the power cord on my old DeWalt. This sander compares well. It has almost as much power as the DeWalt although can't really press down as hard on the corners of the pad to work on that stubborn little spot that doesn't want to come out. But I am pleased with it. It has a better dust collector than the DeWalt. One con is that the top is curved which means you have to prop it against something when you turn it upside down to change the paper.

Good value.
This sander is much quieter than my old Craftsman sander, which finally quit after years of use; the latter's switch quit working well before its demise. This one performs very well indeed, and while loading the sandpaper is a bit cumbersome, it stays on until the paper loses grit or tears due to nail heads or other irregular features on the item being sanded. The dust collector is a plus; I have yet to employ the vacuum hose attachment feature. If the latter works well, it's a coup. I've used it for several months ; it's working well so far. It appears to be a good acquisition for not much money.

Overall great...don't sand with the edges
So I recently received this Skil 7292 palm sander. It came with a few sheets of sandpaper so I decided to test it by sanding some 2'X2' plywood squares I recently cut for a project. Just normal 3/4" plywood so the surface was pretty rough. Overall, the sander worked wonderfully. It is very strong and sands surprisingly fast...at least it surprised me at first. So, I would suggest using this on a scrap piece of lumber first to get the "feel" of it prior to using on something that matters. Also, the paper that comes with the sander is fairly coarse. You will definitely have to get some finer paper prior to doing any real delicate work or work that matters. Word of caution. During my plywood sanding, I routinely leaned the sander over on the front edge in order to do more detailed sanding in certain areas. A big mistake if done over time because after only this first use, the sandpaper wore through on the front edge and the rubberized pad under it shows signs of wear where I wore through the sandpaper. So, the moral is not that this machine is flawed hence my 5 star rating but instead that you should not try to sand with the edges. Only use the flat bottom surface of the sandpaper and routinely look to see if you are wearing through the sandpaper. I have yet to use the dust collection feature so I can't really speak to that but I'm willing to bet it doesn't work all that great. Dust collection features never seem to work well imo so I no longer consider that a plus or minus for a power tool. They are all equally bad at dust collection. :)
