I Am Impressed!
I desperately needed a tracker that worked in the Georgia woods. I fully expected to have to send this back but, after two days of testing, the performance has impressed me far better than I had expected. A month ago, my Husky broke her lead in the front yard and disappeared into the woods, trailing 30 feet of line. As expected, she got tied up trailing her line but, after three days of searching, I could not find her. This tracker would have taken me right to her. I have tested the tracker and it tracks us on the map really well in the trees with occasional peeks at the sky. No loss of GPS signal indicated thus far. We have pretty marginal cell coverage up here but I have never seen it lose cell lock. Another brilliant thing is, when you get to within 75 feet or so, you can turn on "Radar Mode" and it will use the bluetooth signal for range and bearing to the collar. The collar is very small and fits inside a loop on my Husky's collar. She wears a harness for walks. The subscription will be well worth it next time she makes a getaway. We can just let her run around our property and keep track of her via the phone app. Battery use has been very good thus far, going from 95% the first day to 87% the second day. I can see a need to charge this collar every ten days or so. Another great feature is, whenever the collar is in the Safe Zone (a radius around your house you determine) the collar goes into battery saving mode and shuts down all the cell and GPS tracking. One last feature is a Walk Map feature that shows your distance covered. I always wondered what our total walking distance has been and she is getting 2 miles next to my bike and another 2 miles walking trails each day on our property. I am getting that exercise too!

Love the beeper to recall my already e-collar trained dogs.
I got these trackers for my two dogs, and they’ve been a game-changer. They come with a 6-month subscription, with the option to upgrade to a year for just $10 when you activate the tracker — which I did. Living on 5 acres, I recently had a new neighbor who brought in 5 Texas longhorns on his property. I definitely don’t want my dogs slipping through the fence and getting into trouble, or the cattle getting stressed out. So, I set up a “no-go” zone halfway down my property near the cattle, giving me plenty of time to recall the dogs thanks to the alerts. These trackers have a beeper that I can activate through the app — it’s not super loud, but it’s pitched just right for my dogs to hear and come back. Since my dogs are already trained with e-collars, this system works seamlessly. When I let them outside the fenced backyard to patrol the main property, I switch to live tracking for instant notifications if they enter the no-go zones. I plan to reinforce the fencing near the cattle to prevent any slips, but having these trackers on gives me peace of mind that both my dogs and the cattle are safe and stress-free. After researching many options, I found that the Tractive trackers stand out for their reliable signal, feature-rich app, and solid build. They might seem pricey at first with the subscription, but when I break down the value, they’re actually among the best out there. I use them for my two Dobermans — a 65lb female and a 95lb male — and they fit perfectly on their wider collars. I didn’t feel the need for the XL or adventure XL models; these suits them perfectly.

SCAM! SCAM! SCAM! DO NOT BUY!!!
June 2026 Update: I wrote to the company to share my feedback and how they can do better. Their response was disappointing to say the least. There was no acknowledgement of the issue. No mention that they will try to incorporate my feedback or do better/different. No suggestion/advice how I can do different to make the best use of the device. They got my money. They are moving on to the next target. This is VERY BAD COMPANY! Do not listen to the celebrity endorsements or social influencers. This is a terrible and useless gadget. May 2026 Update: I cannot emphasize enough how much I hate this product. Half the time, it is telling me the device is not connected to the network. Update is only through Bluetooth, yet it is never in range. My dog is just across the street in the neighbor's yard. We are in an average size residential, open area, not obstructed by trees or buildings. Regardless if it's cloudy or sunny, day or night, the device always has a hard time connecting to the network. Terrible company with an even more terrible device. ----- This a terribly designed product. The device itself is bound to collar through elastics/rubber bands. I can imagine that will last a couple years. Not the worst part. It's fairly and low profile. Deceptively, you cannot use the device out of the box. You have to pay a minimum of 1 year subscription fee. The product images indicate $9 a month for a 1-year subscription but it's actually $10. After the cost of the device, subscription fee, and taxes, you are essentially paying a minimum of $200 just to use a device, where it advertised at $50. The software is frustrating. The entire focus of the app is to conserve battery. A batter saving zone can be created around your house. That zone is defined by how far your WIFI network. It doesn't actually connect to the network itself but as long as it sees it, it believes your dog is in the area, which could be inside your house or a few doors down, depending on the strength of your signal. My dog likes to roam around the neighborhood. There's a good and safe part, and another where I rather she doesn't explore. You can also define safe zone, which I have set as the area around my house, where I have line of sight. You can also set no-safe zones, which I set as the areas around the safe zone. Frustratingly, the device does not check for the network frequently. Often, I would let my dog out the house when I get home from work. Sometimes she plays around the house and sometimes she disappears to visit her favorite spot, the next block over. More than 15 minutes later, the app is still showing her as inside the safe zone, or inside my house. I'd click on the "Live" button to track her location, and the app would tell me it is unavailable because the dog is inside the safe zone and the feature will be available once she leaves the safe zone, even though she's many blocks away, beyond my WIFI network and the safe zone. Once you are able to start Live tracking, it is supposed to update every two seconds are so. Also, untrue. Closer to 10 seconds. This is extremely incompetent design. It should ping the network more frequently. It should allow me to access Live tracking, even if it drains the battery. Give me a warning but do not inhibit me. There's also a feature where it will "ring" the device when you are within Bluetooth range. The sound is quiet, like a fly buzzing. Unless you're few feet away or know what to listen for, you won't hear it. The range is also weak. I can walk 50 feet away from my phone and I can still take a call through my Bluetooth headset, but the app will tell me that the signal is too weak to turn on ring when the dog is 15 feet away, right in front of your, in your line of sight. Overall, I hate this device. The subscription requirement is deceptive and a scam. The app is horrible. The features are lacking and incompetently executed. For pet parents who want to know where your pet is, this device is not what you're looking for. It will anger you. I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND this device.

Beat all expectations
Honestly, I didn't have high hopes for this tracker. I have six Beagles and 15 acres in a rural area. Any Beagle lover will tell you that fences are no match these avid hunters as their ears seem to turn off when their sniffers go into overdrive. Air tags did not work for us and I was tired of chasing these adorable garbage disposals through the woods. I started with one tracker out of desperation and, to my surprise, it worked better than I would have hoped. Please note that this is technology and is at the mercy of the GPS signal it receives. I receive a message within a minute or two of the dogs leaving the "safe" area. Live tracking works like a dream - even in our rural area. The tracker "jingle" is not very loud. You cannot use it to track your dog. However, our dogs can hear it and every one of them will turn around and come home as soon as they hear it. That was an unexpected and crazy awesome benefit. I've even sent a jingle while I was halfway across the country and it worked flawlessly. All the dogs now have a tracker. It fits on their collars well, light weight, and charges quickly. For us, this tracker is worth every penny.

Very good, 1 week battery, delayed notifications
Overall, I enjoy this product and would buy again. I have three dogs that like to leave my property and visit the neighbor's farm. I bought 3 trackers with 5 year subscriptions. The sound feature is nice to alert the dogs that they've been snagged by Mommy, but it's not very loud for me to hear where they are unless they're very very close. The notifications that they left the safe zone are somewhat delayed by about 3-6 mins which is somewhat disappointing. But my dogs have learned their boundaries in just the last 2 months of using these and they rarely ever stray from the property anymore. Live track feature is nice to have a second by second update if I need to head one of them off. Battery life isn't terrible. I usually get just about a week between charges. Sunday night is usually charging night for everyone, but each tracker depletes at a different rate I've found and not entirely sure why.

Great product. The app is pretty fun too
This is my second tracker and it will be my last. We have a German Shepherd and a Golden Retreiver on an electric fence. We want to be able to find them should they ever escape. I see Lost Dog signs often and never want that to be my nightmare. The app is very nice. It tracks activity/ health. Fast updates, long battery life, and acurate. I trust if my dogs every get lost I can find them. Which is most important to me

Could be SO much better!
This Tractive device is a GREAT idea, and we're much less stressed about the whereabouts of our dog, for the most part. Here are the pros and cons: PROS: - Being able to trigger "Live" mode and track exactly where our dog is on our acreage is fantastic. - It recharges with USB-C connections, which makes it trivial to charge since we're all USB-C in our house. - The "Health" tracking is fun, including Leaderboards for groups like nearest 50 dogs with Tractives, ranking within breed, and ranking across all Tractive dogs for things like sleep and activity. CONS: - The Tractive offers a power-saving mode based on if it senses your home wifi signal. This is an interesting idea, however the issue is twofold for us: first, we went to great pains to ensure our wifi covers our entire property, and second, when the Tractive senses your home wifi and goes into power-saving mode you cannot enable live tracking unless you wait up to 20 minutes for it to do it's scheduled check-in. - If you don't use the low-power mode described in the above bullet (we don't) then battery life is not great. Ours consumes between 35%-45% every 24 hours, so we have added "charging the Tractive" to our daily device charging routine. - The stretchy strap that holds the Tractive to the collar tore within the first 3 months and we had to replace it with aftermarket straps. Note we have one dog and no kids so the Tractive wasn't being pulled/tugged by another creature, just our dog out running around by herself. - The Live Tracking fails to engage about 30%-40% of the time and we have to retry it. So far we haven't urgently needed tracking but if/when we do we're not confident in it kicking in quickly or reliably. Overall we'd rather have this device than not have it, but, man, it could be SO much better with just a few tweaks. For example, if they'd make the Live Tracking activation delay something shorter than 20 minutes when in power-saving mode that would be great - like, add middle option that extends battery life just not as much. That being said, for people with minimal wifi range the power-saving feature might work great, but for us with acreage and outdoor wifi access points it would mean that if we used power-saving mode and wanted to find our dog on our property we have to do it the old fashioned way, walking around and looking (she's deaf so we can't call her). The issues we have with the Tractive seem like things they could fix with future firmware updates, so we'll see. Bottom line is we're not sorry we bought it but we're frustrated with its limitations and cheap/shoddy straps.

Love Tractive
I love tractive. This is my second one in 3 years. Love that it tells you any health issues. Big game changer when my dog got sick and we didn't realize it. It gave me a health alert that his resting heart rate was high. I did return this for a newer model that's comparable to my dogs weight. This one said 8 lbs and over on box. Didn't know that. I went on line and they do have a newer one for over 40 lbs. My GSP is 90 lbs. Look for tractive 6XL. Newer one has a 6 week battery life too, as This one is only 14 days. I'm only replacing the old one because battery life isn't lasting. I guess after 3 years on a GSP. Time for a new one. And for $60. a year it's worth every $$.

Excellent!!!!!
When our dog ran off during a walk, it was one of those moments that makes your heart stop. She had an Apple AirTag on her collar, but once she darted into the thick brush, the AirTag was basically useless without a nearby phone to ping off. That experience made it clear we needed something with real GPS tracking. Enter the Tractive Smart GPS Tracker, and honestly, it’s been a game changer. The device gives you live tracking that’s accurate down to a few metres, even in wooded areas. You can follow your dog’s movements in real time through the app, and it updates constantly without the lag we had with other devices. The virtual fence feature is another standout. You can set a safe zone around your home or favourite walking area, and the moment your dog crosses that invisible boundary, you get an alert. It’s quick, reliable, and gives huge peace of mind. Beyond tracking, the health and activity reports are surprisingly useful. It logs your dog’s daily movement, rest, and overall activity level, almost like a fitness tracker for pets. It’s a nice bonus to see patterns that help you understand their habits better. The device itself is lightweight, waterproof, and easy to attach to a collar. Battery life is solid, and the subscription plan for GPS service feels worth every cent for the reliability it brings. After trying both an AirTag and the Tractive, I can say there’s no comparison. The Tractive Smart GPS Tracker is designed for pets, and it shows in every feature. I 100% recommend it for anyone with a dog who loves to explore—or one that’s just a little too fast when they see a squirrel.
