How does this compare to the really expensive cases namely Kipling?

I dont know about the Kipling, but i can tell you this. I put my prismacolor pncils in it rather thn keep them in the box. It holds 72 penclis, has a zipper case and two little slots the size of index cards. Its really handy and sturdy than thecplastic one i had before where the lid gradually breaks off. Will the slots fit a thin expo pen?

I carry my glasses, glasses and my cell phone without any trouble. It depends the length of you pen. If it's longer than 5/5 1/2 inches long you may have troiuble

Are the loops large enough for fountain pens?

Yes, slots are plenty big enough for a fountain pen. This is a 72 slot, there are also 100 slots.

Will it fit 80 kuretake zig watercolor brush pens?

I'm not familiar with 80 kuretake zig watercolor brushes, but what I've done in order to fit two Pentel watercolor brushes side by side was to cut the stitching that sews the elastic loops onto the divider. Cutting the stitching in one place effectively opened up two small loops into one larger loop, into which I put two Pentel watercolor brush pens.
