I love rice and have it daily as part of a ...
I love rice and have it daily as part of a balanced diet. Unfortunately as I've gotten older I haven't been able to enjoy carbs as freely as I once did. I've tried substitutions like cauliflower rice, quinoa and the other Konjac rice products (the ones packed in liquid). None of them have been very satisfying in terms of taste and texture which is a big factor for me. Cauliflower rice gives everything a cauliflower like taste no matter what you pair it with and the wet Konjac rice has a weird slippery texture and takes awhile to dry pan frying it for regular use (sometimes gives off an odd smell too). I guess it really boils down to texture, if I'm going to eat rice I'd prefer a close rice like mouth feel as possible. With this dry Mannanhikari rice it was a total game changer- I can still eat rice but not all the calories! At first I was skeptical, I was worried the rice wouldn't 'cook' like regular rice. I was pleasantly surprised when I tried it, it didn't have any weird taste or texture. In fact, it was so well incorporated into the regular rice I had a hard time telling the grains apart. I even served it to my picky husband, didn't tell him it had diet rice in it and he couldn't even tell the difference either! All the instructions are in Japanese but I was able to find a source online that translated it. I rinsed one cup of Jasmine rice and then added one packet of Mannanhikari rice unrinsed and added 1.5 cups of water. It came out perfectly! The serving size after cooking was a little over 4 cups of cooked rice. I served it with a Japanese curry and it was amazing! I wish it wasn't so expensive, but at least I know I have better options now.

Super delicious and identical to regular rice
Super yummy rice especially when mixed with jasmine rice. I love to do 1 cup jasmine rice with 1 package of this with 3 cups water in the rice cooker. So delicious. Especially when you add mixed grain rice for extra nutrition which gives so much flavor to the mix. This rice takes the guilt out of eating rice for me and the texture and taste is identical to any other rice you're eating. If you want it more firm then add less water but the flavor is super delicious.

The taste is awesome..
The taste is awesome ... just like rice. Was happy about that!!! But I thought all the while since its SHIRATAKI it was low carb or zero carb like the wet ones I've tried. I am on a Keto diet hoping to get out of insulin. After having this rice, I was wondering why my blood sugar was up when I've gotten it consistently below 130 for the last 2 weeks. So i searched to see what the nutritional fact is on this and just found an answer from the seller right here about Nutritional Info. It has 44.4 g carb !!! Not sure what the serving portion was cause it didn't say .... but that is a LOT!!! I felt like I just ate reg rice. :-( and i thought i found a good low carb alternative....

I enjoy this product!
I'm impressed with the ease of cooking and the great taste, Lo Carbs and fiber. There is no english on the packaging so follow these instructions: Rinse several times in cold water and boil like pasta for a few minutes. Strain through a fine sieve, give it a quick heating in a hot dry pan to dry it a bit and serve. Good with salt and butter or olive oil.

Not bad - too expensive
The description is not clear enough because it’s 99% in Japanese. It IS about half the calories and half the carbs of regular rice, and the taste is fine, while the texture falls somewhere between rice and white wheat pasta. I *would* buy this regularly if it weren’t so freaking expensive. At nearly 2 dollars for a small serving, it just seems a little ridiculous. A 1 cup serving with Curry costs $3.56 just for the ”rice.” I’ll go back to forbidden rice and just eat less.

Texture like risotto pasta, but without any scent or taste
It's the best almost no-calorie pasta/rice substitute I've ever run into. Texture is perfect (imo), but it has no taste or flavor. I microwave a 1:2.5 (pasta:water) mix for 3 min, wait 2min minutes, microwave 2 min, and wait 10min. If you're a foodie or gourmet you'll hate it, otherwise it's the best substitute so far invented. However, it is way too expensive to eat on a regular basis. Thus, I buy it and store it for those times when I run out of sirataki noodles making dinner.

Taste like Rice!
I was skeptical at first but when I cooked it and tried, oh wow, it taste like real rice. I’ve been eating the konjac shiratake rice and it’s not the same. This rice is way way different from the taste and texture. I will definitely buy again this product. The only request I have is to have an English equivalent of the nutrients and instructions. And maybe to lower the price.

Not what we were looking for. Confusing
The best I can tell, this stuff is not meant to be cooked alone and is not low carb, just reduced carb. Even with a 50-50 mix with white rice you still get 17.5g of carbohydrates. Because it is all in Japanese, I cannot tell the true carb (carb-fiber) count. With a 20g daily carb diet restriction even up to 50% reduction to white rice is not sufficient. Especially at this price. We wanted a dry version of Miracle rice. As far as I can tell, this is not that.

Good product for carbohydrate and calorie reduced cooking
I liked this. Actually you’re supposed to mix it with regular rice but I found it also ok without mixing and instead covered in curry sauce etc. Obviously it does not taste the same as actual rice however if you eat it on its own.
