Osmo Action 4 Essential Combo, 4K/120fps Action Camera

I bought my DJI Action 4 just after the Action 5 had gone on sale, so it was a bargain price- pretty much the same as you can bag it for now! I got it specifically to shoot short video clips and a few stills pics when I was taking part in the Surfers Against Sewage charity’s ‘Dip A Day In October 2025’ daily swimming challenge which it did flawlessly. I bought a couple of spare batteries (which it never really got close to needing as my longest day’s-worth of clips only totalled about an hour).I’ve only ever owned early incarnations of GoPro action cameras (with no inbuilt screens!!) and cheap other brands to take a beating on my mountain bikes. I have to say this little DJI has a very premium, solid feel, it looks great and front and rear screens make life so much easier. The camera has a nice non-slip finish and whilst it has a certain heft which helps impart an impression of solidity, it’s not over heavy. The camera’s inherent waterproofing is good for 10m depth but I still bought the DJI underwater housing- more for the added protection than its 60m depth rating (which I will probably never need). Also the floating grip which makes it easier to hold the camera steady and means that you stand a chance of retrieving it should you drop it in the water. This accessory also has an orange base to help you see it as it floats away!The camera is very intuitive to use with simple menus. I thought the voice control was a bit of a gimmick but actually found it easier to use than trying to push buttons with cold-numbed fingers! The picture quality is great, really far in excess of what’s needed for whatsapp and facebook posts but good to know it’s there if you need to use a bigger screen than your phone or tablet. The exposures are spot-on and there are some nice toys like slow motion.The camera connected easily to my phone and the videos were quick and easy to upload. I had great fun editing them on imovie and the results seemed to be well received- what’s not to like about a slightly overweight middle-aged man shrieking like a banshee on exposure to freezing cold water?

This is an awesome bit of kitDo not be fooled by the cheaper competition it's worth every penny more than what others claim their knock offs can achieveThe stabilise feature alone makes this worth the extra costDji have in my opinion the best hardware aroundYou will need a high speed micro sd to be able to record 4k another big cost but also proof that these cheaper alternatives lie about shooting capabilitiesAnd the difference between 1080p is incredible clearly seeing the differenceAnd.the 1080p looks better than 4k recorded on the cheaper onesThe included software (from play store) is actually very good so if you don't want to spend on expensive software to edit your images then this app can make professional looking content very easily in fact at the touch of the screenIt has many featuresSlowmo, hyperlapse, timelapse, as well as photo and video with many aspect ratios and resolution settings to record direct content for chosen platforms and even has a live stream functionVoice control, waterproof to 16m out of the box (tested)It is very well made feels solid the dual screens are good and the menu system is Intuitivethe magnetic mount system is the only thing that is brilliant but a bit annoying, for it to work conveniently you require a magnetic mount for each accessory. these can be picked up a bit cheaper if you don't mind 3rd party solutions. if like me you shoot multiple scenes from different views you would benefit from 1 for each I needed 4 to be comfortable 6 to be happyAccessories are readily available and 3rd party stuff I have bought has fitted well so far just research it will fit carefully cause there are alot of dji cameras and go pros that 3rd party sellers mislead sometimesAll in all it's def worth the extra money and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a good dedicated content camera

This action camera is a major step up on anything else I own in the video camera area. The rock steady setting is excellent and better than anything I have used.The finish is very good and the surface of the camera seems to be designed to give a very good grip. I like the fact that you easily unscrew the lens and fit a new one if damaged. That said I have bought a lens cap for the camera.I had to download the full user manual from the DJI website as they only give you a paper quick start guide. Also, they recommend that you use a 30W charger which I purchased with the camera.Photos are good and good enough to just use this camera when out and about.I feel that it will take some time to work out what else I can do and how to do it. I switched off the front screen to save battery but it's easy to switch back on if needed.So read the full user guide and experiment if you buy one. The video and photo quality are worth a bit of effort finding out about the camera.

Small, but functional

Had to buy twice as I didn’t close the USB flap properly so be very careful and check everything is shut, same as with all waterproof cameras.However I bought another, the footage is amazing, I see no fault in the photos despite reviews (probably to sell a later model)Easy to use, was fine in 36 degree heat with high humidity and plunging into 17 degree water.Built to last, feels good, easy to use and a good price for what you getLOVE IT

A really solid useful action cam. Although some may feel this action cam is a bit outdated now I would suggest that unless money is no object - you have a close look at the reviews for this camera. It was being used by 'high profile' YouTubers etc. up until about a year to eighteen months ago. And although the action 5 or 6 may be better - this camera still produces perfectly useable footage at about half the price of its newer rivals. I mainly use it to give some visual context to my 'outdoor' ambisonic or binaural audio recordings. The picture quality at 4k is really perfectly ok and for its price it does a great job. If mine went wrong I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one rather than a much more e expensive action 6. Yes the action 6 is better - but only by degrees, it's not a 'night and day' difference and the video from this camera is going to be absolutely fine for the majority of hobby or semi serious users. The only situation where this may seem a little disappointing is shooting in very low light - as the resulting video will be a little noisy compared to the action 6.

To my Frustration this Camera only works when you install a Chinees software on your phone and register your email with their app..Above all the Camera comes with a USB-C to USB-C cable and since I have a Iphone with a lightning wire I have to get a wire specifically.. The aquired wire however dos not seem to connect to the device and the app say's -you cannot connect to the device..So Now I am stuck with a useless camera...And also besides that; If the camera dos not work without app's? Then they better keep their ******! and I don't want it...
