It definitely gets your fiber connection to the full 5 gig speeds advertised and it does a great job at connecting to a dock as well

Purchased this ethernet adapter when it first came out and it didn't go anywhere near 5Gbs So I returned it. A year later I tried it again and now it works great. Maybe the drivers are better. Now I get very close to 5Gbs reliably and although the device gets very warm, it's not hot which is another plus. I am very satisified now.

Runs at a perfect 5gbps on macOS. No drivers and it’s easy to setup. There isn’t a better deal in my opinion so I consider this the best value for the money. Compatible on macOS, Linux, and windows 11 from my tests with no drivers. Does get a little warm to the touch but nothing more.

It's better than 2.5 gigabit ethernet adapter, but it's not a full 5 gigabit ethernet adapter. My UGreen 2.5 G ethernet can get 2.3 gigabit downstream, and 2.2 gigabit upstream, which is reasonable given the typical network overhead. This Plugable 5 gigabit ethernet adapter got around 4.3 gigabit downstream and 3.2 gigabit upstream. So it wasn't a doubling of speed when switching to this faster adapter. A different desktop computer with an integrated 10 gigabit adapter on the same switch could get 9.2 gigabit downstream, and 6 gigabit upstream, which means that the speed difference is likely due to this adapter and not my network connection. For optimal results, plug it into your laptop directly instead of to your external display. The USB wire may be a little sensitive to bending, and it would probably be better if it were a little stiffer to avoid it bending too much. You get a little more performance by not bending it too much. While my network connection is solid, with this adapter, there was definitely some ramp up time when testing the speed. Sometimes it would be slow, and then the connection speed would get faster. In one test, this adapter dipped down to 340 Mbps when uploading for a while. I didn't notice this behavior as much with my UGreen adapter. It's also worth noting that my Plugable adapter was likely a return. The packaging was previously opened when it arrived. Unfortunately, I don't feel like I got a "new" product. It does feel hot to the touch when connected for a while. It is convenient and portable. You just have to plug it in, and it works. While I do recommend it, there are definitely some areas where it can be improved.

Plugable company states this does not work on Android phones, but I had no problems using it to access/install files on several android phones. Very happy with this and other Plugable brand products.

Works on Apple Silicon with MacOS26 (miracle, with Apple's mediocre network stack and bug filled OS). HOWEVER: Does not work with Verizon's CE1000A extender, which has a 2500BASE-T upstream-direction PHY/MAC bug. Throttles to 500Mbps. Only option for 1Gbps is to use the 1gbps port only, sacrificing 2.5gbps LAN, or use an unmanaged switched in between Verizon's junk and the RTL8157 chipset.

When my router provides the speed this sucks it up. Make sure you connect it to an appropriate USB port that can handle 5 gig. One thing To understand is you probably won’t get the full 5 because now your laptop our desktop is doing the work that a network card normally does but you should get a solid 4gig

Not a very efficient NIC, but okay for the price. Does not reach anywhere near its full negotiated wire speed. I tested bandwidth performance of this NIC adapter for quite some time with a very capable switch and transceiver modules. It's nowhere near it's 5gb/s mark at the negotiated speed, but it will be better than 2.5gb/s, just don't expect it to perform as advertised on the negotiated speeds above 1gb/s.

Jala muy bien el chip es Realtek. 2.5 Gb pero alcanza 5 Gb. En cuanto tenga puertos 10Gb probare el máximo.

Another cheap no-name adapter melted under heavy use, this one was flawless and faster!

Works Well, getting just over 400mb/sec on a QNAP Switch. Overall good product. I found that when testing different 10Gbe switches it can be the switch more then this product the issue with getting good speeds above 2.5Gbe
