Samsung Galaxy Note 3 USB 3.0 Data Cable - Non-Retail Packaging - White

This is the original-style Samsung cable, and it works exactly as expected. I’m using it with a Galaxy S5 that’s been repurposed into a universal remote and retro gaming device, and it’s been flawless. Charging and data transfer both work without issues. If you’re keeping older Samsung devices alive, this is the right cable to have.

This is the basic charger/data cable that comes with the newer Samsung phones. It allows for fast recharging of your phone, and has additional data paths. Also, the double funky width of the connector prevents friends/spouses/kids from using your charger since it only fits newer Samsung phones! I bought two of these to keep, one in my glove box, one in my computer bag, as spares. Read below for my rant on Samsung's god-aweful customer service and ridiculous warranty policy. In case you didn't know this, using any NON SAMSUNG cord on your phone will void the warranty. I didn't fine this out until my original charge/data cable failed, Verizon was out of them, and Samsung required I first send them my defective cable before they would replace it. Since I couldn't go that long without a phone (and yes - I have the expensive insurance but that doesn't cover in-warranty Samsung stuff) I used a new high capacity charger while my replacement was processed. When I called Samsung to find out how much longer it would be, and mentioned I was using one from Verizon that wasn't for Samsung but had the same power output, I was told I'd voided my warranty. WHAT???? Yes. Even the cord Verizon used at the store to set up my phone wasn't Samsung brand - so my ubber expensive phone had a voided warranty literally moments after being removed from the package. We aren't talking about warranty coverage for DAMAGE caused by non Samsung parts - we're talking about ever letting a non Samsung item connect to your phone. A car charger, an AC charger, a data cable that you use to transfer some tunes - if ANYTHING that isn't Samsung connects to your phone it voids the warranty. It's like using a Motorola cord is WORSE than getting your phone wet. A wet phone isn't covered by the warranty for any damage that could have been caused by water, but if the cellular provider sets up your address book with a Motorola branded data cable - nope -no warranty.

As of August 2016 when I purchased my cable for $4.99: This is either NOT an OEM product, or it is a sub-par and poorly made OEM product. The connections are perfectly fine and the cable works well *enough* for a $5 cable. Transfer speeds and voltage is within acceptable limits. I just dont know how long this cable will hold up. You can tell it is poorly constructed as the thickness of the cable varies along the length of the line. ---IN FACT, if you look carefully at the photo of this item, on the USB side near the bottom you can see how the cable is all crimped up and much thinner than on the micro-USB side!!!--- Not only that but the embossing of the cable with its specifications along the length of the cable are NOT uniform what-so-ever and appear to actually damage the cable in some areas as they go in far too deeply. Similarly, in other areas the specs are un-readable as they are not stamped in far enough. (It should be noted that most cables either emboss them by 'stamping-on' the specs or by simply having them lettered, essentially painted on) I have never seen an OEM Samsung cable that had these problems... and I have had over 25 of them. However, despite all this, the cable DOES work. It's just not the quality I expected. Looks like the connectionors (USB3 to Micro-USB3) are OEM Samsung, but the cable between them is NOT!

I bought this cable to replace the one that came with my Samsung Galaxy Note 3. It works perfectly, unlike the OEM cable that came with my phone. The original cable was too loose - in order for it to charge, or maintain a connection when transferring files to/from my PC, I could NOT move my phone, even slightly. This cable replacement is nice and tight, and is very reliable. It's about 4 feet long, so I have no trouble connecting my power charger to a distant electrical outlet. Will buy again, if I ever need a new cable.

Purchased three of these. I love my Note 3. And I will continue using it as long as I possibly can. So as the years roll by I order spare parts. As I go from room to room, or vehicle. I like having charging capability wherever I am. These cables have given me that ability. When I leave one area and go into the other I can plug up. Likewise my auto's. These data sync cables are identical to the cables that came with my Note 3. And of the three I have ordered and received ALL of them have performed flawlessly. The reason I remembered to do this review was because I came back to order a couple more of these outstanding cables.
