This is a very well made lighter, feels very meaty in the hand.

It's a solid lighter. The prior version was the "5-in-1" lighter which was much more rounded-off. This is functionally the same. What's improved: The best part of it is it's very squared-off, making it quite stable when you set it down. The built-in pipe stand is improved, but not by a lot. It's MUCH easier to open than the prior version. It lends itself to smaller-stemmed pipes - it can't handle a churchwarden. It will hold my rustcated Savinelli 606KS ok, but if you look at it wrong it could slide off. My apple pipes don't fit on it at all. The 5-in-1s pipe holder was worse and the pipes would just slide off, usually which could be mitigaed with double-sided tape or something or maybe a piece of rubber. But I really don't use a pipe holder often, so this isn't a big deal for me. One thing that's nice is they added a magnet to hold it in when closed so it really shouldn't open on its own. The only thing that's not as good is the lighter mechanism. It doesn't seem to want to light on the first try. You have to ease into it and even then it only lights every other time. So if they could improve the lighter mechanism and make the stand bigger and less steep this lighter might be perfect.
