MOVA Self Rotating Globe, Earth at Night Classic (4.5")

it works

A fantastic globe and well worth it. I’m playing on get the moon globe next! This is a quality piece of work.

Love it

My boyfriend doesn't get it but I f*****g love it.

Out of the box did not work. Was able to return, thankfully.

Nighttime revolving view of earth. Gold shows amount of density of populace at nighttime. Very eye catching. Loving the view. No wires to keep it in motion. Just source of daytime and nighttime illumination. Perfect!

The good news: the thing is beautiful. The oceans are in two, maybe three shades of deep blue, the continental shelves being lighter. The continents are black except where illuminated by human-made light, which of course is the whole point of this globe. Greenland maybe is a slightly lighter shade of gray-black, which it would be in moonlight since it's covered with snow. I did learn things looking at this globe. Like, there are a bunch of cities in inland western Australia. I thought it was all desert. Now the bad news: my globe sometimes rotates backwards! This seems to happen more often when it's getting started with the first light of the day. It goes forward a bit, then backwards a bit. It's disconcerting. I contacted Mova about this and they responded quickly with a list of trouble-shooting ideas. Apparently these globes are picky about where they sit. I have another Mova globe and I've never had any problem with it. Finally, yesterday I relented and followed the advice to place it at a distance from anything electronic. So I had to take it off my desk which is where I want it, and instead place it on a shelf in the bookcase, where it gets less light. So far, altho it is turning very slowly there, it is not going backwards. The website says that the darker globes need more light. Earth at Night of course is a darker globe. Even tho I'm disappointed I can't have it where I want it, I don't regret buying it and I never really wanted to return it. (Speaking of which, what you have to go thru to return it is a pain in the you-know-what. You pay for return shipping, and they will "consider" whether to refund it. Harrumph!) So, 5 stars for beauty, 1 star for function, average out to a 3-star rating.

We were on vacation when we saw a similar version of this globe at the gift shop. My son has been begging for a globe for his desk and this very expensive gift was well received. At first glance, this glove is beautiful. What I found particularly impressive was the coloration of the oceans where darker blue reflects deeper parts of the ocean. This small attention to detail really adds to the quality of the globe. The globe is solar powered and will rotate on its own during the day with sunlight. It rotates slowly so you can truly appreciate it. The stand is very nice and holds the globe well. The outside is glass so the earth inside can rotate freely and is not affected by the stand or fingers touching it.

Notevole! Articolo molto carino.

Lovely!I am very pleased with this purchase. Delivered sooner than stated. Globe is well packed. Thanks Mova for an amazing creation.
