Enjoy a Colourful Cup of Coffee
This was my first proper go at owning and using my own perculator. I love the colour, and the build quality seems fine. I have seen some comments in his sturdy the hinge for the to lid is (some say not very). I feel it's pretty good, though it will certainly fail if you tried. Basically it's not flimsy, but it's not a tank either... I clean after every use simply by rinsing with hot water. I read somewhere that using washing up liquid can affect the aluminium and/or the oils left from the coffee itself. Not sure how much I believe, but so far so good (i.e. problem free). Colour is vivid and the build quality feels very good. I expect to have this for a while! Beware it is capable of spurting coffee across the stove top if you don't pay attention with the lid open! Would certainly buy a bigger one if I was making coffee for more people.

Made in....?
So far, I’m really pleased with my Rainbow light blue Bialetti. It’s eye-catching and looks good! After reading reviews that the paint discolours when exposed to a naked gas flame, I make sure I place it on the smallest gas ring and ensure the flames don’t go above the base. I like the fact there is a water line inside and it has a quality feel. I wondered where it’s made and I think it’s Romania - see photo of base.

Lives up to the reputation
Bialetti is basically a sacred among my Italian friends and now I know why. I'd been disappointed by a lot of moka coffee but after making sure to watch a tutorial so I know how to use it properly I'm having lovely round, fruity coffee every day and I have stopped buying it from coffee shops. Somehow it's also stopped making me paranoid- not sure of that's a difference in percolation or because it's so nice to use!

Poor quality.
We have bought two two of these in one day. Both have arrived in terrible packaging that has been taped together and both of them have stretches on the actual item.

Beautiful and easy to clean
I love it. Still, FYI, it's only big for 1 large cup of coffee.

I got the 6-cup green Rainbow Moka Pot. Bialleti rate their pots in espresso servings. My wife and I use the Moka when we want to make milk drinks. A 6-cup machine is about right for brewing 2 American-style coffees with milk. So this pot can brew anything from 2-6 servings depending on your usage. The green 6-cup Rainbow has a design that's a blend of retro and contemporary. It looks gorgeous alongside a classic KitchenAid blender if you like a slightly retro kitchen. It's an absolute piece of art, and it makes good coffee. Moka coffee historically was quite bitter due to boiling pre-ground dark Italian coffee quite hard. This lead people to call it "espresso". Moka is not brewed under much pressure, so it's not true espresso. What you get is a very concentrated small serving of coffee which draws strong flavors from the bean. If I brew the same coffee back to back in the Moka versus an Aeropress, the Aeropress is smoother and more balanced, but the Moka explodes with flavor like an espresso shot. They're very different experiences. My recipe for light roast: Grind coffee medium-coarse as for Aeropress. Put freshly boiled water in the base, use a towel to close. Heat pot over medium-low heat with lid open. Watch until pot sputters. Closw lid and run cold tap water down the side to arrest boiling. Pour into 2 mugs. For black coffee, dilute with water to taste. For milk drinks, do the same, and top with milk. Frother optional but recommended. I love the Moka Pot. They're very beautiful so you want to display it on your shelf. They're a little finicky if you want to get the best coffee from them, especially from lighter roasts. The Moka was designed for pre-ground dark roasts, which brew much more easily but produce an offensively bitter coffee to my tastes. If you instead use a good fresh ground specialty coffee and manage your heat, you can get an "espresso-like" cup for a fraction of the cost. Great for small shots or milk drinks. Highly recommended.
