With encouragement from Rodin, Francois Pompon created sculptures of Polar Bear and other animal statues displayed in 1922 at Salon D'Tonne. One of the most famous works of Pom Pom at the entrance area of the Museum of Orsay in Paris. The lumbering strength of the bear's movement conveys its form, mass, and dimensionality, in a unique way but still suggestive of Rodin's earlier training.
