I have never, in 70 years of movie watching, seen any movie as well made as these nine movies. Every detail, every aspect, is - quite literally - perfect. It's a pleasure to watch them just for that reason, but the stories themselves are also excellently done. Tom Selleck is the star and executive producer (which explains the excellence) and - of course - is great in the title role. The supporting cast is also top notch (Mr. Selleck left nothing to chance), although many are not "star" names, they all give star quality performances. I had seen all nine of these made-for-tv movies when first aired and bought all when released. Unfortunately, my copies were all stolen, so I immediately bought the boxed set. I will say, the sound level varies between the individual DVDs, but not on each disc itself. One other thing I think worth mentioning; I honestly believe these movies should be required watching for any film student - that's how good they are. I personally have watched at least 10 times.

I first watched two Jesse Stone movies on Prime, I believe. Two were free with subscription but there were a couple more but at additional cost. ( Charging for products on a service one is already paying subscription fees is maddening, in my opinion.). So I found some more for free on another source, but there were still two I could not access anywhere. So I looked on Amazon and lo and behold there they were on DVD. Some sets had two movies on a disk but there were complaints that the movies were clipped to fit broadcast TV to allow for commercials and to fit in a two hour time slot. This set was 9 separate disks fitted into a unique case that held all in a single case. They were even in correct order other than number one and two. Enjoyed all 9 movies which all had IMDB ratings over 7. I have a huge number of DVDs in my garage and watching these encouraged me to dig them out. Quality is excellent and the extra features were a fun addition. A good $40 worth of entertainment.

This is a great series. Tom Selleck is amazing. I recommend this Jesse Stone series and set the resolution is great and no issue when playing the dvd. This set has 9 separate dvds which is nice because you can watch the films in release order, compared to another set I bought which had 2 movies per dvd and not in filming (i.e. 1st movie with 5th, 2nd with 4th, etc.) and it makes a difference with the characters. Spend the extra $10.00 and order this set, get some popcorn, sit down and enjoy.

The Jesse Stone stories are extremely well done. The acting, especially by Tom Selleck, is excellent and the writing is very good, keeping the dialogue believable and never revealing the culprit until near the end of each episode. The camera work and locations are also very good. All in all, this is an excellent series and worth viewing more than once. The only improvement I could ask is that the disks be packaged together in some way, such as several in each cover or all the covers in a sleeve, to make them more easily managed. I would buy the series again and would recommend it to a friend.

This series is a different kind of crime drama. There is so much detail, including typical Selleck's wry humor, that it makes owning the set worthwhile so you can go back and watch them again to pick up all the nuances. The series is a window into the life of a troubled cop, played perfectly by Selleck. It is dark but thought provoking.

Well the Jesse Stone movies are interesting without a lot of craziness. Tom Selleck does an outstanding job playing Jesse Stone. I love the setting, the drama and the coastal scenery. I know there are more Parker books so I am hoping to find more of these books turned into movies. I have watched these movies multiple times in just a short period of time. Buy them...you’ll be glad you did!

9 movie series great for binge watching

This series, filmed here in the Maritimes, was one of the best things he’s ever starred in. He also uses the same phrases in Blue Bloods

I am seduced by this series. I bought the collection of all 9 films in october 2018 but I had been watching them for a long time before that on television. But these are better as they have not been edited down to fit the time slots. The name attracted me. Jesse Stone. And the colours the beautiful house and surroundings where Jesse lived. My favorite shots are those of Tom Selleck and the dog Reggie walking across the footbridge to the house. The series spans many years - 3 dogs - the first one old and dying and then in the next episode the main dog Reggie. He belonged to a murder victim and Jessie took him home with him. He lived a long life, died of old age and then in the last episode a new dog arrives. The colours and textures all seem to compliment the rich light chestnut colour of Reggie's coat. Jessie drinks neat whiskey and wears mostly beige and brown clothes. The stories are all very different from each other and there are also stories running through several episodes. So it is complex. The television scripts are developed from novels written by Robert. B. Parker who sadly died while one of the films was being made. A hugely talented and prolific writer. I consider this to be Tom Selleck's masterpiece as an actor. Yes Blue Bloods is a much longer series and he is excellent in that. But here there is much more depth. At times a lot of meaning without much being said. I have watched these films many times and even now when they come up on television dip in and enjoy just parts of the stories which I know so well. All 9 episodes are in my top 100 must have films. Oh and Viola Davis is there too acting perfectly. So life has been so grim during this awful pandemic - the television a very bad friend piling on more and doom and disaster. What to do? Go to the films which have given pleasure. And this has been just the right choice - the lovely music - the personalities yes some of the stories are very grim but we know they are fantasy. Still the same phrases 'the information is out there all you have to do is let it in' 'I'm very fond of you Jesse' 'Mr. Fish is in' The dogs - Boomer - Reggie - Steve. And a sense of calmness. Yes - still a great favorite still and always will be.
