How long is the retainer cord?

I threw it out but my recollection is that the cord was short.

will these fit XL frames? the chart on amazon suggest maybe not, but the croakies chart suggest yes, but maybe these on amazon are an older model ?

A hard question to answer. I was able to use them with sunglasses which had moderately wide frames. They would not fit on glasses designed to fit over your regular glasses. I don’t know how wide the customer’s glasses are. My answer can only we a guess is this case.

Will this fit on ray bans thick frame and thick on the ends?

Yes, it will. The plastic part at the end can be moved to make the hole bigger or smaller, depending on the diameter of the frame. However, please take into account that it is an extremely short cord (the glasses are too close to your neck) and it is very uncomfortable, I guess even more so with a thick frame.
